FROM THE POLEMARCH

2017 has been a year of transformation for RAC. It’s been five months since we
began our new journey as your board, and I am humbled by the commitment
you NUPEs have shown to each other and our community.  While our journey to
"ACHIEVEMENT in every field of human endeavor" isn’t always easy, I’m
confident that we will meet our goals and close out the second half of the
fraternal year strong. As I reflect back on the first half of the fraternal year, I’m
pleased with the progress we’ve made, including:

Honoring our brother Province Polemarch Michael F. Brown with an appointment dinner
Donating 77 Stuffed Backpacks to kick off the school year with a goal of 70
As a chapter pledging $2,875 to support iKare
Assisted Kappa Xi in hosting a successful CRWLC
The Greater Raleigh Kappa League successfully hosted the inaugural William E. Hooker
Kappa League Summit and worked with the MEP to host the Sheldon "Jackpot" McAlpin
Town Hall with NOBLE.
We supported 16 families for Thanksgiving and stocked over 140 Christmas Stockings with
toys for kids for Christmas.
After a 5-year hiatus, we were back in the spotlight with WRAL Coats for the Children
Telethon with 13 brothers answering the phones and accepting donations.
We launched a successful "My Brother's Closet" initiative to support the less fortunate in
conjunction with the Raleigh Rescue Mission.
We had a successful RAC Ugly Christmas Sweater Potluck with Family.
We have a total of 83 Financial brothers

We are a dedicated, passionate group of brothers who stop at nothing to deliver
the best possible results for our chapter, and more importantly, our community.
As we enter the second half of the fraternal year lets close
strong and get ready to win some awards at Province Council.

Yours in the Bond,

FROM THE VICE POLEMARCH

Kappa men around the world celebrated the founding of our great fraternity 107
years ago. In sports and sales we are often reminded to return to the basics or
fundamentals.  When shooting free throws line up square, have your shooting
elbow facing the target,  bend your knees, focus on the front of the rim and so
on.  Of the five fundamental purposes of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. the
primary one is, "Achievement in every field of human endeavor".

In the Raleigh Alumni Chapter we are executing the basics and have many
achievements to be proud of.  Our Guide Right Program finished in the top 10 in
each category for the medium size chapter category. For the second straight
year (RAC) and KCTF sent kids to the Kappa Kamp.  We continue to give our time
and money to support Bugg Elementary School providing back packs filled with
school supplies, donating funds for books and monthly reading sessions with the
kindergarten class.   During Thanksgiving we donated food to needy families, we
provided Christmas stockings filled with gifts to children through the Salvation
Army, we raised an estimated $40,000 dollars while on air at the WRAL Coats 4
Kids Telethon, our Beautillion Militaire Leadership Training Program has been
hugely successful and our Kappa League is growing in numbers and impact.

Brothers, our Founders would be proud of what our chapter is doing in our
community. Yet, I believe we can and should do more.  What are  you doing, as a
brother in this fraternity to contribute to the legacy our founders envisioned.
Each generation of Kappa men has a responsibility to add to the contributions
of by gone generations.  Let each of us accept the challenge of doing the basic
work of our great fraternity, showing brotherly love, leading and  inspiring
young men and women by our examples of achievement and dedication to
making our community and world a better place.

Humbly submitted and Yours in the Bond,

CLEM LACY

Kappa Xi - Fall 2015

Name: Sean Calloway
From: Rochester, NY
Initiation Date: November 20th, 2015
School: NC State University
Major: B.S. in Agricultural & Environmental
Technology with a Minor in Science
Technology & Society.
Graduation Date: December ?, 2017
Why NC State?  I wanted to go to a larger
University that was well versed in the sciences.
I felt that black youth were very apprehensive
to involve themselves in agricultural sciences
do to historical oppression and I wanted to
help jump start the movement back into the
field. I like being outdoors and helping the
environment so I felt this would be a good
place to do so.
Why did you join Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity,
Inc.? I had friends that had decided to join
Kappa who I knew before hand. I saw how
Kappa had helped them transform themselves
into better forms of themselves and decided to
start my own research. After more research
and realizing some of my peers also wanted to
be Kappa Men I decided to enter the journey
with with.
How has Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
influenced you?  Kappa has had even more of
an influenced than I imagined. I learned even
more leadership skills in interpersonal and
cross cultural communication as well as just
basic knowledge of what others view as formal
and informal dress. Kappa really is a
brotherhood and I thought it was cliche before
I actually joined. I learned more about myself in
a short period of time than I feel could have
been learned anywhere else and I am thankful
for that.
