Gratitude refers to the feeling of thankfulness for the good which we receive in our life. Expressing gratitude is giving appreciation to the person who has helped you and has been kind in return. Moreover, it’s a beautiful way of enriching our lives. People who practice gratitude are known to have reduced levels of stress. It has been proven that expressing gratefulness results in high release of Dopamine and Serotonin. Every organization has a class of employees who are at the top of the organization and take all the glory. In hospitals it’s the doctors. At the University it’s the faculty, at the Bank it’s the Manager. But what about those who do the back-end jobs like the clerks, janitors, plumbers, technicians, front line workers and the nursing staff? Thanking those who do thankless work is crucial because it is an acknowledgement of the valuable work, they all do in our society. In the workplace expressing gratitude is a crucial element for infusing positivity and good will in the work environment. Practicing gratitude in the workplace has many benefits. It makes people feel valued and appreciated, which is a fundamental human need. Moreover, it also makes employees feel more satisfied with their jobs, increases their loyalty towards the organization and makes them more productive at work. EXPRESSING GRATITUDE AT WORKPLACE Shashank Kumar, XII-B
Who says God doesn’t exist? God exists in the form of our teachers. The Pandemic proved this very well. The world witnessed a dramatic transition. Instead of traditional classroom teaching, it was our laptops and smartphones which took over. There was almost no scope for schools to be opened and life was full of uncertainties. GRATITUDE TOWARDS OUR ‘TECHNICAL GURUS’ Aditya Pandey, XII-B During this time, it was our teachers who went out of their way to teach us, taking out time to learn technology. We all had our own set of problems. We stumbled, fell down and struggled to get back on our feet but amidst all this what did not stop was the dedication of the teachers. Despite the difficulties, they were always there with us as a guide. They were the ones who did not let the flame of knowledge and learning die out. They stood by the students like a strong pillar and helped in resuming the process of teaching and learning. They switched their way to online teaching and became our ‘Technical Gurus'. Apart from being our academic guide, they also served as a psychological guide helping us to cope up with emotional problems. I express my heartfelt gratitude to these ‘Technical Gurus’ for always being with us. Now that the physical school has resumed, I reminisce about those days and it fills me with a feeling of gratitude for all my teachers who stood by us in the tough times.
When the epicentre of our thoughts Is hemmed in by the self, our heart gets parched with ingratitude. There bloom only thorny complaints, budding by the minute. A trickle of gratitude won’t be remiss, for it’ll bring freshness to the attitude. PARCHED Sneha Katiyar, XII-D
The mind awakens from grief and melancholy through a flicker of hope, The lonely wanderer paving his way through unbearable cold. The magnificent architecture that rose from devastation The cracks in soil are patiently waiting for rain to happen. Travel through dust till the hourglass turns The time gets paralyzed and you won't return. Some long nights before the dawn Some rejections before the final call The everlasting struggle before a halt Brightens the gradient of victory. The beauty lies in the journey of circumstances And state of mind With gratitude carefully sewn into the fabric of life Spilling the glass half full on your way through dead end And thanking the fences that kept you alive Celebrating yourself is the appreciation of life. Glass half full Manavi Sarkar, XII-A
Be thankful to God, who sent you on Earth, No matter if it is big or small, There is always a purpose behind your birth. Be thankful to your parents. Give them respect and love. If you don’t, Have you imagined being an orphan? Be thankful to your true friends, they are rare to find. Be thankful for all the love and care The power of gratitude leaves everything behind. Be thankful for what you have, when the time is still there. Do not wait for it to disappear to realise its worth. Being thankful, brings the feeling of bliss, Makes life brighter than the ‘Northern star’. Learn to be thankful for everything. The drops of joy will bloom a garden of happiness in your heart. BE THANKFUL Rakshita Sarpal, X-B
Learn from those who came before Be thankful for the pains they bore It is they who sacrificed To see you succeed, to see you rise. We are born into this world, But our path is ours to find We look like our ancestors But we are of our own mind. So learn from those who came before Be thankful for the pains they bore It is they who sacrificed To see you succeed, to see you rise. So remember them And never fail to respect Without them Your life would never have the same prospect. HOMAGE TO OUR ANCESTORS Sarthak Bagai, XII-C
According to ‘Psychology Today', gratitude is an expression of appreciation for what one has as opposed to what one wants. Although the words ‘grateful’ and ‘thankful’ are often used interchangeably, they are distinct. Being grateful is appreciation and being thankful is acknowledgement. Gratefulness is an emotional response. It is a response to an occurrence or series of occurrences that have made a difference in our lives. Gratitude is the best reply to generosity. We must express gratitude to our friends, family and even to strangers. Only saying ‘thanks’ is not gratitude. Gratitude can be expressed through actions or kind gestures. Being respectful, kind and showing generosity are some of the ways to express gratitude towards others. One should not take the kindness of others for granted. Practicing gratitude can fill all the social gaps and it can help us to build meaningful connections. IT’S ALL IN THE EXPRESSION EKANSHI, VIII-A
IN THE LAP OF ‘MOTHER EARTH’ Kaustubh Sharma, VI-B The vibrant voices of my friends reached my ears, I could hear them playing in the park. The smiles of the elderly breathing heavily after a refreshing walk felt very warm. The scene was very soothing and refreshing. I dreamt of the evening, after getting back home. This little gift from Nature made my day! I am grateful towards ‘Mother Earth’ for blessing us with such bounties. May God bless us with strength and wisdom to save our environment. My eyes caught the colour of marigolds, roses and sunflowers as I paddled down the street under the pink sky. Peacocks hummed the song of the rain while the birds chirped from branch to branch.
On a lighter note, I was also grateful for not being scolded by teachers during the pandemic as our classes were held online. The fact that my notebook no longer contained red pen corrections and question marks was comforting. However, I missed the smiley faces and twinkling stars in the notebook and of course the physical presence of my peers and teachers. Gratitude is feeling thankful for all the things you have and counting your blessings. You'd be surprised how much expressing gratitude transforms your life for the better. It makes life meaningful. Gratitude works wonders! Gratitude and Thankfulness Aryameher A Bakhtiary, VII - D love you 3000!! Always be thankful it's okay not to be okay Being thankful or showing kindness to someone is gratitude. It was a ‘testing time’ for everyone during the lockdown. During the Covid times, my family was my greatest source of happiness and strength. It is known that if you are surrounded by the people you care about, it makes you feel calm, happy and relaxed. I indeed feel a deep sense of gratitude towards my family for being there for me.

Greetings to all! "Gratitude is the fairest blossom that springs from the soul". – Henry Ward Beecher. So true! This year we have a lot to be thankful for. Small mercies; be it in the form of good health, family bonding or the companionship of friends. We have faced tough times with the last two years being quite a roller coaster ride. Some high moments, some low filled with doubts and uncertainty. Despite it all, one thing is clear. We are grateful for what we have achieved and have emerged stronger with a positive outlook. Positivity helps us to be hopeful and optimistic. We look forward to a better tomorrow. Let us be kind and compassionate towards others who may not be as fortunate and be thankful to those who have stood with us during strenuous times. Being a better human is what matters. Let us together make the world a better place. Appreciate the small things in Nature - the blooming of flowers, the chirping of birds and the flowing of rivers. See the beauty, count your blessings and spread a ray of sunshine. Today and tomorrow are yours, to hold and create. Be motivated and excited for all that is yet to come and do your best. We should welcome growth, challenges, highs and lows with a grateful heart. God Bless! Ruchi Agarwal Headmistress (Primary Wing) Headmistress's Message
WE ARE THANKFUL Heartily, we are thankful, To those, who worked selflessly in the nastiest situation, And those who clapped and lighted lamps in appreciation. Warmly, we are thankful, To those, who realised, how it feels to live in a cage, And those who helped others, leaving the rage. Sincerely, we are thankful, To those, who maintained relations with the distance and break, And those, who accepted NAMASTE leaving the hug and shake. Genuinely, we are thankful, To those, who accepted life’s new pace, And those who rise to start life, after the space. Yes, we are thankful. Addvik Srivastava, IV-D All nurses and doctors are our heroes! Despite the hardships and health risks due to COVID -19, millions of frontline workers continue to do their job. These hard working heroes are keeping Indians safe, picking up trash, providing life-saving medicines, delivering groceries and packages, preparing food, cleaning hospitals, caring for those who are the most vulnerable and keeping us safe despite all odds. Niviya, 1-A A word like thank you for me falls short of expressing the hard work done by the frontline workers who have put their lives at risk for the common folks. They have been a source of inspiration and like them, I want to give something back to the society too. Samaira, V-A

Thank You You are PROFESSIONALS You are HELPERS You are WARRIORS You are HEROES Grace, IV-C Everybody was taken by surprise when COVID-19 started spreading. Many lost their lives and livelihood. But many rose up to the occasion and became real life heroes. I would like to express my gratitude to those who stood by me during the tough times : my father and my mother, who despite the lockdown and contracting COVID, maintained order in my life and my teachers who worked tirelessly and did not allow my studies to suffer. I would also like to thank the doctors, front line workers, policemen, essential goods suppliers, farmers, scientists and above all our government. Satvik Attri, III-A
THE UNAWARE GIRL Once there was a little girl, Who was unaware, Of the dangerous monster That had dared invade! She was surprised to see The number of people on the streets. Now there was no one, To give her treats! Now she had passed two years Through this situation, Now she was thinking of a solution! She then thought of the good things, Like the classes, like the relations. Like the new hobbies, such as Meditation! Now she thought this virus As a monster in disguise. Now it is normal, No one needs to hide! Daksh Dhankhar, IV-B Gratitude is a gesture that expresses gratefulness towards others. It involves appreciation and thankfulness towards others for their deeds. I am thankful to the doctors, nurses, janitors, our friends and all the people who followed the corona protocols. We are thankful to the corona warriors who have proved to be our real heroes. Ratash Goswami, V-A I am first of all thankful to God that today I am safe, healthy and happy even in these COVID times. I thank all the front-line workers who helped us so much during the pandemic. I also want to express my gratitude to my teachers who helped us to continue studying in the trying times. During COVID-19, everybody’s life got disrupted. Everything like offices, schools, shops were closed and everyone started stocking up on essentials like rice, vegetables, fruits, flour etc. When the first lockdown was announced, I felt sad because I couldn’t go to school to meet my friends. But during COVID-19, my studies continued through virtual classes. Teachers did their best to teach & engage us and motivated us to do better. Despite the bad times, many got a chance to spend quality time with their friends and family. Kashvi Arya, IV- A COVID-19 pandemic started in the year 2020. Concepts such as lockdown, mask mandates and social distancing were unknown to most of us. Today they are part of our everyday lives as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact us. The pandemic taught me to build genuine relationships. I stayed connected with my friends and spent valuable time with my family. Education became digitised, lifestyle changed and everyone learnt to survive during the bad times. Ranjanya Das, III- A
COVID-19 was a hard time for all of us. It impacted the poor very much and many people lost their jobs. Schools became online, which affected our eyes severely. Though schools are open now, COVID hasn't ended. We need to be cautious as it could peak again. So stay safe! Satyam Pandey, V-B The coronavirus pandemic hit us hard. Across the world everybody suffered in some way or the other. While most of us stayed safe in our houses, the front line workers worked tirelessly. A big thank you to them for saving the world. From the HEADMASTER’S DESK Dear Readers The uncountable long dark nights seem to be over now; the dark shadows that overcast our lives is slowly disappearing. The onset of the 75th year of Independence has given its gift - freedom from the pain, the agony, the fear of losing, freedom to breathe, freedom from isolation. The two years of the pandemic were very painful. The schools were closed in the last week of March 2020 and reopened on 1st April 2022. The scenario was completely new to all of us. It was something we had never heard of, never thought of or experienced before. Each day, the human race was learning new things during the lockdown and we were looking for the best options to lead a better life and find our way out of that darkness. Those two years were the darkest phase of our lives, as many of us experienced death at close quarters. People even lost their loved ones, yet life continued. We kept celebrating life in different forms and motivating ourselves to bring positivity in our lives by different actions. Every member of the society played a vital role in making life easy during the pandemic, whether it was the government, service class, businessmen, children or old people. It made us see life as a celebration of being alive! Similarly, the schools also played an important role in keeping the education system functional by keeping the children engaged, giving personal attention and motivating students. The parents also got involved in this process and it helped them to understand their children better and recognise their children's potential. It would not have been possible without the help of every member of the family. Let me take this opportunity to sincerely thank all our students and their parents. I extend my heartiest gratitude for the kind understanding, timely support and extraordinary faith shown in us. Thank you once again and wish that you and your family enjoy good health, happiness and prosperity. Wishing you all the best. Jai Hind!

An Encouraging Story Mrs Simmi Sharma (Counselling Psychologist) Mother of Vivaan Sharma I feel it is important to share the encouraging stories of recovery from our own experiences. To start with, I would like to share the story of my son Vivaan. He is 8+ and was diagnosed with mild autism non verbal borderline at 3+. During that time his vocabulary was limited to two to three words and he was also hyperactive. He did not respond to names and neither did he make any eye contact. All that he could engage in was lining up his toys or playing the same games repeatedly. After diagnosis we put him on OT, Speech Therapy as well as CBT as per the doctor’s advice. Till six years of age, we could see no visible differences in his development. He became calmer (now I realise that was his receptive period of understanding things) but slowly his cognitive skills started improving. In the last two and a half years, I have seen drastic changes in his vocabulary and communication skills.
All thanks to the efforts of his teachers and therapists who kept him engaged in online classes and activities during the pandemic. Now he has started going to school with a support teacher. He is still on OT and Speech therapy and by God’s grace, he is improving day by day. The road to recovery is not easy and there is no such thing called a ‘Miracle cure’. Every intervention has its own challenges. So my advice to all the parents will be - Keep trying until you have no more chances left. Don’t give up easily, take one small step at a time and never lose hope. Remember that every second, every minute that you invest in your child's recovery process will be fruitful. As Emily Dickinson aptly said, “Hope is the thing with feathers." So always keep your faith and hope flying high! Things will eventually turn out fine.
