Two legendary companies, one bright future.
In 2018, we changed the course of history by merging together two of the area’s largest and
most respected real estate companies - Northwood Realty Services and Berkshire Hathaway
HomeServices The Preferred Realty.
Together under the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Northwood Realty Services name,
we are the area’s largest residential real estate brokerage.
While our future is looking very bright, it is our humble past that made us who we are today.

1956- Retail store heir, Hal Authenreith, founded Northwood Realty Services - a one office, six desk
operation located in Pittsburgh’s North Hills.

1991 -Pittsburgh native, Ron Croushore purchased Merrill Lynch Realty (which was founded in 1962 as
Hammill-Quinlan Realtors) and became Prudential Preferred Realty.

2014 - Prudential Preferred Realty became Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices The Preferred Realty.

2018 - Northwood acquired and merged with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices The Preferred Realty.
