The Techni-turn 90 degree Rotary Elbow is manufactured from 316 stainless steel and
combined with the right seals and shaft support can be used for a very wide variety of fluid

TECHNI-TURN NICKEL PLATED MILD STEEL
90° SWIVEL ELBOW
PRODUCT SPECIFICATION
The Techni-turn 90 degree Swivel Elbow is manufactured from mild steel and is then nickel
plated. While not as corrosion resistant as the stainless steel Rotary Elbow it offers a cost
competitive alternative and is ideal for hydraulic applications.
The standard unit comes with nitrile rubber main seals, dust seals and teflon back up
washers. Sizes are from 1/4” to 3/4” and standard threads are BSPP Female & BSPT Male.
Flow rates are the same as for Stainless Steel Rotary Elbows.
WARNING : THESE ARE DESIGNED TO SWIVEL ONLY. DO NOT USE FOR CONSTANT
ROTATION OR SIDEWAYS LOAD APPLICATIONS AS THE SHAFT IS SUPPORTED BY
‘O’RINGS ONLY AND THE SWIVEL MAY FAIL PREMATURELY.

The Techni-turn Hot Bitumen Straight Swivel is manufactured from mild steel with a plated
finish.
It has a very simple yet rugged design with no flow restrictions.
These are designed for any bitumen or low pressure application to stop twisting of the hose.

90° ROTARY ELBOW
SEAL TYPES
The standard unit comes with nitrile rubber seals , teflon back up washers and PETP bushes
to align the shaft. This combination is mainly suitable for cold water or hydraulic oil. If the
application involves chemicals or excessive temperatures then please see the basic application
seal material resistance chart listed below. If you are still unsure of correct seal type then
please contact our sales staff for advice. All units supplied with Viton or Ethylenepropylene
(EPR) seals are also supplied with Teflon bushes instead of the standard PETP bushes.

For constant rotation applications i.e. cooling rollers, hydraulic clutches etc, roller bearings
should be used in place of the bushes.
Size : 1/4” – 3/4” Up to 20 RPM use Bushes – Over 20 RPM use Bearings.
Size : 1” – 1.1/2” Up to 10 RPM use Bushes – Over 10 RPM use Bearings.
Note : The above is indicative only. The bushes will not handle high revolutions as they wear
out very quickly which can cause the shaft to pick up on the inside of the body & then makes
the unit unrepairable. With the bearing unit the seals wear out but the shaft stays aligned by
the bearings and the seals can then be replaced at a much lower cost than replacing the whole
unit.
