CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE EDUCATOR

A Culturally Responsive Educator (CRE) operates under the premise that the opportunity to learn together can be shared by

CHAPTER 5 – PERSONAL HIGHLIGHTS

The BLACK Family

THE GREATEST LOVE
OF MY LIFE!

Presenting she who was conceived in love,
is a gift from God, is brave and will be a
leader of people.

Mary Nela Nicole

Excerpt from

“FOR ALWAYS”

By Veronica Black

The night I fell into love, I didn’t trip…Just stepped to the other
side. No music played, but there was music all around. The lights
were dim but the brightness was profound.
Your face was just a silhouette in his eyes.Yes, it was at that point,
our souls submerged together and emerged as one.
Our souls submerged together and You emerged as One!

LIKE MOTHER, LIKE DAUGHTER!

Mary is the one thing in life that I felt I have done right. She will always be my greatest accomplishment!

’s Philanthropy and ME

Funded a neighborhood food Provided a grant to fund summer food program
pantry at Dignity House – St Louis I created – Central and SE North Carolina

Where I spend most of my time…In my classroom, with my gadgets.

WHAT A YEAR, WHAT A CAREER!

To be appreciated by your students Teacher’s In Space. I love science and love space.
and colleagues is an honor. 2015-16 I was fortunate to be the only African-American teacher
School year, I represented our school To attend Space Camp for teachers. I earned my wings!
as the Teacher of the year!

I love art no matter where it is. Our students
painted the top and right picture. The bottom left
picture was painted for me by a psychiatric in-
patient. We used a cigar box and turned his art
into a purse with a handle!

FINAL THOUGHTS…

“I cannot tell the truth about anything unless I confess being
a student, growing and learning something new every day. The
more I learn, the clearer my view of the world becomes.”
