AndyBears From the AGM [email protected] Hello members of the golf club, I want to sincerely thank every member that has come out this summer. I appreciate every single one of you, and I can’t thank you enough for the support of the club, our new member events, and the Steakhouse. With summer ending, there is still a lot of great golf weather to come. Some say, and I agree, that September is the best month to golf in Wyoming. We have some exciting news! New Golf Carts!!!! They have arrived and are up and running. They are EZGO carts and have a 7-inch front-facing GPS screen. I ask that you be patient with us as we start using this system. There will be restricted areas where you are not allowed to drive your golf carts. There will be messages that pop up when you are in a restricted area. The PACE system that is on these beautiful carts is capable of many things to help the golf course operator monitor where cart traffic is, it will help us monitor the pace of play, it will help us keep track of every cart on the property and where it was driven in a round of golf. Getting new carts is like Christmas for golf course operators. I hope to see you out here enjoying the beautiful fall weather in Hulett. It does not get any better than this. Have a great day,
Brett From the HEAD PRO Hello from the First Tee! Thank you to everyone who has been so welcoming to me and my wife Deann since joining The Golf Club at Devils Tower as the Head Golf Professional. I am very excited to be here. My wife and I have truly been treated as if we have been here for years. As many of you know, I have many years of experience as a golf professional in the Southeast. I look forward to providing you all with a truly exceptional experience. Moving forward I hope that you all notice a special attention to detail to provide all members and their guests with the best experience that should be afforded to each and every one. I want to make each trip to the golf course a fun, memorable, and rewarding experience. Thank you to everyone that played in our Member events this year! The Wyoming Blade, the Club Championship, and the 867 Member Guest were all huge successes. I truly cannot begin to express my gratitude for all that played. I look forward to seeing you all and more play these events in 2024! LAST DAY TO GOLF IS OCTOBER 31ST! Course closes November 1st. Thank you again and I look forward to seeing each one of you on the golf course soon.
Shawn From the maintenance Dept. Hard to believe that Labor Day weekend is fast approaching. August was a good month here on the course. Lots of events and outings, which culminated with the Member-Guest. I am proud of my staff for the effort they put in and the condition of the golf course. Greens were rolling fast and true. All areas of the golf club put in long hours to make the Member-Guest a success. If you didn’t play this year, plan on it for next year, you will not be disappointed. For the month of September, it is aeration month. Actually, tee aeration was August 28th. Some of you may ask why do they aerate all the time? Answer, lots of reasons. From the USGA website, “Aeration is an essential program to keep playing surfaces healthy and in good condition. Aeration primarily is performed to control organic matter – i.e., decaying roots and grass stems – relieve soil compaction, stimulate root growth and improve drainage. If organic matter becomes too thick, it acts like a sponge and holds water at the surface after rain or irrigation. Excessive organic matter also inhibits root growth, reduces oxygen levels in the soil, encourages disease and eventually can lead to turf failure. Furthermore, excessive organic matter creates soft surfaces prone to ball marks, foot printing and inconsistent playing conditions”. Long answer but one that shows the effects long term and short. September 18th and 19th will be our aeration dates. Please keep this in mind if you’re planning on coming then. Fall is a great time to golf, so I hope to see many of you out here soon.

OUT WITH THE OLD Our new EZ-GO Golf carts are equipped with PACE GPS systems. PACE will have the option to Geofence the golf course. With this, we will be able to control where the carts go, for example, keeping carts on the cart path on par 3 holes, keeping carts on the path around tee boxes, greens and of course keeping the carts out of native grass areas. The carts will make a sound when you are in a restricted area and will make that sound until you get out of the area. After a certain amount of time in a restricted area, the cart will shut off and the only thing you will be able to do is reverse back to where you came from. This technology will allow us to see where every cart drives during a round of golf. This will assist our maintenance crew to see hot areas where carts are driven so we can get ahead of trouble areas before they become an eyesore. This technology will give us insights into our golf course that we have not had in the past. It is exciting for golf course operators like us.

From the Restaurant Shotgun Coffee Daily 8 AM - 12 PM 77 Menu August was a beautifully busy month, and we loved every minute of it! Jonah Bank, Black Hills Couples, High School Tournament, True companies 75th, 867 Member Guest and so many more made this month full of fun and hard work. I want to send out a huge thank you to all of the staff here at the 77 for working so hard and laughing with each other through all of it. Our staff has found time to enjoy their off time by utilizing the golf course, camp fires, and touring the surrounding country. We have had guests celebrate climbing Devils Tower, hole in one's, birthdays and even our lead servers Ken and Lisa celebrated their anniversary with us! Open 11 AM - 8 PM Daily Friday & Saturday Nights are Prime Rib Night! Brandi Get Social With 77 Steakhouse & Saloon! The travelers from all of the country that made us their stopping place, locals who show their support every day and the owners who visit with their guests and loved ones, is what makes what we do worth it.
