Grace and Peace to you, Sisters and Brothers!

My heart is full of gratitude for the generosity I have witnessed in this congregation in the month of October.

As you know, we launched our annual stewardship campaign in the first week of October, defining
stewardship as how we use and share what we have — recognizing that everything we have comes from God.
We did not limit our discussion to the stewardship of our financial resources, but we did dare to talk about
money, as well, because Jesus talked about money.

In fact, Jesus talked about money more than Jesus talked about anything else because he saw money as the
biggest competitor with God for the allegiance of our souls. Truly, this understanding of money invites us into
a spirit of generosity that can change our lives!

That is why my heart is so full of gratitude because as a congregation and as individual followers of Jesus, we
took some time to pray about and to grow in our spirit of generosity. We took a look at our patterns of giving
and considered the challenge of giving at least $4 more a month each than we gave last year.

I am delighted to say that a review of the submitted estimate of giving cards revealed an increase in the
number of individuals and families who made pledges this year, and half of the cards received project an
increase in giving.

In other words, looking at the pledges and past giving records, it is reasonable to expect an increase in our
revenue from individual and family giving in 2020. That means more resources available to support our
mission!

This certainly is an occasion to say thanks be to God and to thank you, as well, for the trust that you are
showing in God’s provision and for the commitment you are making to grow and serve here at St. Paul’s. (If
you intended to submit an estimate of giving card but were unable to do so for whatever reason on Sunday, it
is never too late. You can find blank giving cards at the welcome center in the Narthex.)

On the heels of such an expression of generosity, I want to make sure you know about an additional way to
grow in our giving as we launch a food drive for our food pantry that takes place on the third Saturday of every
month. During the four Sundays in November, you are invited to bring non-perishable food items to the church
for our neighbors who seek assistance at the St. Paul’s food pantry each month.

This act of generosity not only will feed our neighbor’s bodies; it will nourish all of our souls. I, for one,
cannot wait to see how God will use this expression of generosity in this season of Thanksgiving.

Much Love,

Amy
