Analyze Learners

Age: 10 years old

Level: There are three different intelligence levels in this class which are advanced, average and slow
learner.

Socio-academy Background: There are 22 pupils including 12 girls and 10 boys in the class and
represent a range of experiences and attainment levels. These students come from various
socio-economic backgrounds where some come from rich families and there are the unprivileged ones.
Not only that, most of them also belong to single-parent families. In this lesson, students' learning
methods range from auditory to visual to kinesthetic. Their learning styles differ from one another but
most of them are kinesthetic styles. During class, kids have difficulties staying focused. To address this
problem, lessons must be adjusted to fit the attention span of the students.

Entry Competencies: Students should be able to describe their daily routines. They also should have
the basic knowledge about the adverbs.

State Objectives

By the end of this lesson, pupils should be able to:
1. List out at least 5 unfamiliar words after reading a simple text precisely.
2. Answer 4 out of 6 do/does questions based on the simple passage given correctly.
3. Fill in the blanks 4 out of 5 simple questions given by using the correct adverbs based
on daily routines activities accurately.

Rational choose : The usage of flash cards is to give the students the overview of what they will
learn on that day. The picture of various activities is to give the pupils hints about activities that
usually happen in daily life. On top of that, flash cards do arouse pupils’ attention.

STEP 1
Media : Digital read alouds
Methods : Reading
Materials : Digital tool ‘Storyline’
Rational choice : This Storyline app enables pupils to record their own reading aloud activity. It
is easier to use the digital tool whereby they can listen back and improve on their weaknesses.
On top of that, the teacher can record the pupil’s progress and provide the comments to
improve their reading. In the end of the lesson, pupils can drop their comment in the app for
teacher’s reference.

STEP 2
Media : Online mini dictionary
Methods : Scrapbooking
Materials : Google Slides
Rational choose : Google Slide is used because it is easy and free to use. Furthermore, it is to
introduce the students about the web-based tool that is famously used worldwide. Google slide

helps the students to communicate with the teacher directly. In the end of the lesson, pupils
can drop their comment on the chat box in the google slides as the feedback.

Methods : Quiz
Materials : Quizlet application
Rational choice : I choose online games because it is a great source to enhance memory,
brain’s speed and concentration of the pupils. Quizlet is one of the easiest way for online
games to practice what they have learned on that day. In the end of the lesson, pupils can drop
their comment in the feedback section their thought about the game.

Methods : Writing
Materials : Google Docs
Rational choice : Online notes are very handy to use as it is more accessible for the long term
and their features are attractive. Google Docs is easy because everything is in there whereby it
is free to use and their speciality makes it easy. Plus, the teacher can track the students
progress and directly comment there. In the end of the lesson, pupils can drop their comment
in the google docs itself.

Utilize methods, media and materials

INDUCTION SET

Materials (Flash card): Flashcards are a fantastic learning tool since they can be used in so
many different ways. In addition, flash cards do help to arouse pupils’ attention and readiness.

How to review/preview : Teacher used colourful and real pictures that ensure the students
engage in active learning.

Environmental preparation : Teacher ensure the class is organized and tidy while making sure
the pupils are in the good mood.

Preparation of learning experiences : This learning activity involves two-way communication
between the students and teachers. Students participate in the activity to tell their opinion
about the pictures on the flash card.

STEP 1

The students will read aloud the passage given.

Materials (Storyline application): Storyline is one of the learning tools that helps them to read,
connect, create and share with the whole class. It lets the students create virtually anything that
meets the purpose of reading aloud.

How to review/preview : After the students have recorded their own recording on Storyline
application, the teacher then will comment on their performance. The best performance will be
published publicly to the whole class to motivate them to be better in reading.

Environmental preparation : The classroom must be equipped with the devices needed and
good network connection must be accessible to all the students to complete this task.

Preparation of learning experiences : Teacher helps the students with the recording to
comprehend their understanding of the passage given. Students will read on their own with the
guidance of the teacher.

STEP 2

Pupils are required to create their own mini dictionary on digital tools.

How to review/preview: Teacher provides the Google Slides template for each of the pupils. The
students will be able to communicate with the teacher in the chat box there.

Environmental preparation : The classroom must be equipped with the devices needed and
good network connection must be accessible to all the students to complete this task.

Preparation of learning experiences : This activity is an interactive learning in both physical
and online. It helps the students to be more creative in exploring and producing the slides.

STEP 3

The pupils will work in groups to play small online games on Quizzlet.

How to review/preview : Quizzlet will be projected on the screen to show the progress of the
quiz. The quiz will be done in groups therefore only one device will be used from each group.
From there, they will learn straight away from the quiz together with the groupmates.

Environmental preparation : Groups the students in five. Only one device will be used per
group.

Preparation of learning experiences : 21st century teaching is applied in this activity as the
technology involves. Plus, some of the 21st century teaching elements are used such as
critical-thinking, collaboration and communication.

CLOSING

Pupils are required to write their mistakes or additional findings in Google Docs.

How to review/preview : The teacher ask the pupils to write their own notes or mistakes to
ensure that they will never repeat it. It is to record their learning progress on how far do they
understand the lesson.

Environmental preparation :The teacher needs to prepare the Google Docs for the pupils and
check from time to time. It is to make sure that they do not repeat the same mistake.

Preparation of learning experiences : This type of online notes is very useful that indicate the
understanding of the pupils. This method is quite useful for remembering information.

SET INDUKSI (5 Minutes)
1. Teacher shows a book, ball, toothbrush and other materials related to daily activities.
2. From there, pupils share their experience on doing those activities.
3. Then, the teacher shows a youtube video about learning daily activities.

STEP 1
1. Pupils are given 6 flashcards that show the daily activities of a girl, Megan and a boy,
Pablo.

2. Pupils are being asked if they know about the content of the picture and their
experiences of doing the activities as well as the daily routines.

STEP 2
ACTIVITY 1

1. Pupils are given a simple passage about the daily routine of a girl, Megan and a boy,
Pablo.

2. The teacher asks the pupils to read aloud the passage using Storyline apps.
3. Teachers ask the pupils whether they understand the passage or not.

ACTIVITY 2:

4. Then, pupils need to list out at least 5 unfamiliar words.
5. Teacher will give them time to find out the unfamiliar words from the Oxford Dictionary

online.
6. Pupils need to come out with their own understanding of the words that they do not

understand.
7. Next, they will do the small activities on the unfamiliar words which is the mini

dictionary on Google Slides.
8. The students can write their feedbacks on the chat box in the Google Slides.
9. To indicate their understanding, they need to answer a worksheet given based on the

passage above.

ACTIVITY 3:

10. Teacher explains the next activity.
11. Introduce four adverbs of frequency: always, usually, sometimes and never
