SUGGESTED ANSWERS:

 Q1 – The two pictures represent examples of extreme sports activities. The
picture on the left shows that activity of mountain climbing while the next
picture features paragliding activity. Both activities involve great courage
and strong stamina as they are very dangerous in nature. Apart from that,
you need to be well-trained before you attempt them on your own.

 Q2 – I think I am only brave enough to try out the paragliding activity. I’m
actually afraid of heights however the thought of flying is rather interesting
as compared to mountain climbing. Paragliding allows you to have control
over the heights by maneuvering the glider aircraft. Should I feel that I can’t
tolerate the heights, I will then prepare for landing. Whatever it is, before
trying the activity, I must first make sure I learn the techniques to do so.

SUGGESTED ANSWERS:

 Q3 – I personally think both activities are popular among adults as they
both generate the adrenaline rush some people love. Both activities
require strong stamina and courage. You will need to be skillful as well
thus if you are an amateur, make sure you have a professional to assist
and guide you.

What advice would you give someone about managing their personal finances?

SUGGESTED ANSWERS:

 It is important to save money regularly for these reasons. First, as the saying
goes, always save for the rainy season. You never know when the extra cash
will come useful in your daily expenses or in times of emergencies. Second,
when you do this regularly, it becomes a habit. When it becomes a habit, you
do not find it a burden to put aside an amount of money for savings.
Furthermore, it can become a part of your investment for the future,
especially for those who decides for an early retirement.

 In managing your personal finances, it is wise to itemise your spending based
on your income. This way, you will be able to know how much you need on the
basic necessities and the extras would be something that you can divide for
leisure and savings. When this is pre-planned, then you will not spend above
your means.

SUGGESTED ANSWERS:

 Many assume that wealth brings happiness. To some extent, there is
some truth to this. When you have money, you are able to spend on
not only your basic needs but also on things that you like. To some,
being able to spend on things of your liking does bring happiness.
However, wealth alone I believe cannot bring happiness. I would pair
it with health as if you have both, then life is worth living.

SUGGESTED ANSWERS:

 The option for early retirement has been favourable among many. This option however has its pros
and cons. Among the advantages for early retirement are you get to spend time doing what you
want and live a less stressful life. When you retire early, you get to do things you wish you could
when you were serving. For example, for those who love gardening, retirement allows them to
channel their focus on their plant on a daily basis. Apart from that, retirement allows you to lift the
burden of unfinished work or deadlines to meet on your shoulders. This is turn gives you a stress-
free life.

 On the contrary, those who choose to retire early will give an impact to the working community.
The profession will loss its pool of experienced workers in the field. It will take several years to
generate the batch of experienced workers. Furthermore, it is also a loss of income for the retiree.
For those in the government service, their income will be cut by half when the retiree. That is if
they choose the pension scheme. This will then impact on their daily expenses. In conclusion, early
retirement can be both a gain and a loss depending on how each individual and community
perceives it.

MORE PEOPLE ARE OPTING FOR
EARLY RETIREMENT NOWADAYS.

SUGGESTED ANSWERS:

 I believe many people are now opting for early retirement. This is basically
due to the stress level and work demands involved in the profession. For an
example, many English teachers are considering this option seriously. Data
has shown that the percentage of optional retirement among English
teachers has grown concerns among the policymakers. Among the reasons
for this option are the undue workload put upon the teachers that they now
no longer able to tolerate the stress and burden. Furthermore, many have
experienced health problem as a result to the stress and choose to leave the
profession earlier than their retirement age. Thus, I strongly feel that many
people especially teachers are opting for early retirement.
