The Ocean Penthouses of EXPLORA I offer a sumptuous retreat with ocean- front floor-to-ceiling windows and expansive terraces to unwind and relax. Each of the four penthouse types offers a distinctive private dining area for four and a large seating area that provides an inviting space for guests to entertain in their suite, as well as a calm, comfortable place to spend time and relax.

Silversea Cruises has introduced new direct private charter flights for 28 Arctic and Greenland sailings in 2023 and 2024.

A-ROSA TO OFFER CHILDREN’S
SWIMMING LESSONS
This August, A-ROSA River Cruises will become the first river cruise line to offer swimming lessons onboard one of its ships. Working in partnership with the Wasserlust Swimming School, swimming lessons will take place on A-ROSA SENA, which launched last year.
Beginner and intermediate courses will be available for children aged between four and a half and seven years of age on two summer holiday departures – 5th and 12th August. The course will include six lessons all taught by a qualified swimming instructor, with a maximum of six participants per lesson of 45 minutes. Each six lesson course will cost €100 per child.
VIKING OPENS BOOKINGS FOR ALL 2025 EUROPEAN RIVER VOYAGES
Viking has now opened dates for all 2025 European river voyages in response to an unprecedented level of demand from UK travellers.

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has unveiled a brand new cruise programme for 2024/25, featuring a range of specially-timed sailings to coincide with natural wonders and destination events.
Guests will have the opportunity to follow natural bird migrations, witness meteor showers, experience the world’s second largest carnival and spot wild polar bears with a specially-planned scenic diversion away from the well- sailed route.

CLIA HOSTS ANNUAL RIVER
CRUISE CONFERENCE
Cruise Lines International Association UK & Ireland recently hosted its largest ever annual river conference, RiverView, with almost 400 delegates in attendance.
The event was held in Vienna for the first time and included conference sessions, a trade fair, local excursions and
visit or overnight stay on a selection of river cruise ships including AmaViola, Riverside Mozart and Scenic Jasper.
As part of the conference, a number of cruise lines have agreed to fund a selection of the best ideas from agents who are attending the event, to help grow their sales.
CLIA has also announced a specialist in-person learning day will be held on 5th October 2023, for agents looking
to enhance their knowledge of river, expedition and luxury cruising. Everyone passing will receive formal certification.
CLIA will additionally launch a new, interactive RiverView learning module which covers the journey from Amsterdam to Bucharest. A new, online interactive resource is
also available, demonstrating how the cruise industry
is advancing its sustainability agenda. The toolkit
is accessible to all agents and contains river cruise information as part of its wider content.

How would you introduce Riverside Luxury Cruises to agents who are unfamiliar with the product?
Born out of the luxury hotel group, Seaside Collection, we aim to elevate the river cruise market, bringing some of the additional luxuries, service, elegance and cuisine we deliver in our hotels, onto the river, going one step further and being in a class of our own for a very discerning clientele.
What aspects of the cruise or ship can you point to as an example of going that ‘one step further’?
Firstly, space. For example, Riverside Mozart, our flagship, is the largest ship on the river. Even at double width, she offers more space per guest than any other ship, whilst only carrying 160 guests. Typically other operators will carry 20-40 more. This immediately creates space on board not just for the guests but for the crew too.
Secondly, our crew. With one crew member for every suite on board (and we are all suite ships), we offer a service that is a cut above and we are delighted to offer butler service to all of our guests in all our suites. As ex-Crystal ships, we have maintained over 50% of their officers and crew. They know the ships and the exceptionally high standards that are demanded.
Thirdly, cuisine. We know we spend more on food and produce than any other operator, delivering fresher and higher quality cuisine. Luxury means having choice and our guests will be able to choose from no fewer than four dining venues on board.
Tell us a little about the itineraries and excursions.
We have developed a new modular programme of itineraries ranging from 3 - 14 nights. We want to offer as much choice as possible so clients can, for example, combine a 3-night and 4-night cruise to make a 7-night and combine cruises to experience two rivers on one holiday.
For our inaugural season starting on 4th April, we are sailing on the Danube and the Rhone offering mouth- watering itineraries.
For passengers new to a destination, there will always
be the regular excursions at each port and for those who want something different, there is always a selection from which to choose. Our Signature Excursions include private concerts and helicopter tours. Our excursions will generally be focussed towards culture, culinary or active.
Is Riverside fully inclusive?
At Riverside, we cater to the very high-end clientele who demand choice. So, whilst we will promote Riverside as a wholly inclusive product, underneath the headline pricing, we will offer the option to buy full board (accommodations and meals only), full board with drinks and no excursions, full board with excursions but no drinks right through to a headline package of ALL-inclusive. Our view is why should we ask guests to pay for something they might not want.
Is the trade important to you?
They couldn’t be more important and are our total focus for distribution of this product. We want to offer agents the chance to earn substantial commission - 21% in fact in our inaugural season!
We will be coming to this part of the UK soon, organising a road show with the support of Travel Matters, to introduce Riverside Luxury Cruises and meet people face to face.

THE SCENIC GROUP ENHANCES SALES TEAM
The Scenic Group has enhanced its UK sales team in preparation for increased trade activity.
Sales manager for the North, Jonathan Davies has been promoted to take on
a new role as national key accounts manager for the region. Wendi Hardy moves across to oversee national key accounts in the South.
William Young (current sales manager Scotland, Northern Ireland and North East England), now takes on additional responsibility for increasing agent awareness of the group’s touring product, as well as strengthening ties with the SPAA north of the border.
New to the team is Emerald Cruises marketing executive Lewis Quigley, who takes up the new position of sales manager for the North and Central.

AMERICAN CRUISE LINES ANNOUNCES FOURTH NEW SHIP
American Cruise Lines has announced that construction has begun on American Legend, the fourth new Coastal Cat in the company’s Project Blue series.
First announced in January 2022, the series is a set of 12 small ships designed to sail almost any US cruise itinerary. The 100-guest American Legend is built for coastal operation and features the innovative new hull design that is a hallmark of the series.
The first three ships in the series, American Eagle, American Glory and American Liberty, are scheduled to begin sailing in the next twelve months and American Legend will begin cruising the US in late 2024.
Like its sister ships, American Legend will feature 56 staterooms and suites, each with a furnished private balcony, inside and outside lounges, an open-air top deck and multiple dining venues. The ship’s unique hull form also allows for a wide activity platform at the stern equipped with kayaks and a large tender.
CELEBRITY CHEF BEN ROBINSON PARTNERS WITH EMERALD CRUISES
Celebrity chef Ben Robinson will be joining Emerald Cruises for two culinary-themed sailings on its 100-guest luxury yachts, Emerald Azzurra and Emerald Sakara in 2023 and 2024.
Chef Robinson, best known as the executive private yacht chef on the TV show Below Deck, will join two, eight-
day sailings - the Coastal Gems of Italy and Croatia tour, departing Venice on 28th October 2023 and the Hidden Charms of the Caribbean itinerary, departing San Juan, Puerto Rico, on 2nd March 2024.
Chef Robinson has worked under Italian master chefs in Florence and gained an apprenticeship at the three-Michelin Star restaurant, The Fat Duck in Berkshire. Ben was a head chef on yachts for more than ten years and has made appearances on Below Deck and Below Deck Mediterranean, both hits on Bravo TV, followed by Netflix UK.
Guests on board will be able to sample Chef Robinson’s cuisine, share cooking tips during an interactive Q&A session and join cooking demonstrations. At the evening welcome reception that kicks off each sailing, guests will meet the chef himself and enjoy a signature cocktail.
He will also lead guests on onshore excursions and design three customised dinner menus, which will be served in the yachts’ exclusive onboard dining room, La Cucina.
Highlights of the eight-day Coastal Gems of Italy and Croatia include a visit to a falconry centre in Šibenik, a private concert in the old city theatre in Dubrovnik and a guided tour of Pompeii. The sailing departs from Venice, and visits two ports in Croatia - Šibenik and Dubrovnik - before making its way back across the Adriatic to the southern Italian ports of Brindisi and Gallipoli.
From here, the yacht rounds the foot of Italy to Messina in Sicily, before heading north to Naples and Rome.

And Freddie Mercury! One of my biggest regrets was never seeing Queen and Freddie live. Would love a chance to

IS THERE ANYTHING PEOPLE WOULD BE SURPRISED TO KNOW ABOUT YOU?
I’m a qualified canine massage therapist!
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE DESTINATION?
Thailand is my utmost favourite. I’ve travelled there eight times now and just love exploring this unique country. The beaches, the islands with limestone cliffs, the frenetic cities with the endless traffic, gritty streets and cooking smells on every corner. But most of all the gentle, friendly people just keep me going back time after time.
I love the sea so my favourite hotel has to be steps from the shore where I can tumble out of bed and be swimming in azure seas in seconds and where the sound of the sea lulls me to sleep at the end of the day.
My only trip to the Maldives was a beach bungalow at Kuredu which gave me all that plus coral reef diving with dolphins. Absolute bliss!
KARAOKE SONG?
I love belting out ‘Enough is Enough’ by Barbara Streisand and Donna Summer. My friend and I have sung this duet many times on karaoke and we haven’t cleared the room yet! I’m normally Babs!
WHAT ABOUT A FAVOURITE FILM?
My favourite movie is ‘A Christmas Carol’ - an annual watch to get into the Christmas spirit.
WHAT WAS THE LAST GIG YOU ATTENDED?
I’m a huge Foo Fighters fan and was devastated at the
death of their drummer, Taylor Hawkins. I was lucky enough to get tickets for his tribute concert at Wembley. It was
an emotional event that brought together many artists including Queen, AC/DC, Christie Hynde and a host of others. It was a fantastic day.
WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO SOMEONE
JUST JOINING THE INDUSTRY?
My advice would be to expect to learn something new every day and always remember we are arranging dreams for our clients. PLUS take every opportunity the industry gives you to travel and explore yourself and experience as much first hand as you can.

No phone signal! Waking to the sounds of lapping waves at a Maldives water villa with breakfast on the deck, following a swim with curious dolphins. Then off to Botswana for a safari in the Chobe National Park. Onwards to Victoria Falls and a champagne sunset cruise. Lastly flying off to Cape Town for a nightcap on the V&A waterfront.
