The LYP Camp experience can be, and is, life-changing for many of our campers

and staff. One of our young adults, during an evening reflection, explained

how attending camp had changed his life, and that he returns to camp every

year to serve our youth in the hope that it will also be life-changing for others.

Camp is more than just the activities. There are life skills, leadership skills

and teamwork, social, personal and spiritual development, as well as building

God provides many tools for those whom He calls to develop and grow to become
like Him, in preparation for His coming Kingdom. Being called and chosen to be
part of God’s elect comes with great responsibility to work hard and use what
God provides. The LYP camp for teens is one of these tools.

Our smartphones help us to be connected to people all the time, but they
unfortunately disconnect many of us from the very people around us. At camp,
we have a “no phone” policy for campers to allow them to switch their minds
off from the constant influences of the world and rather be connected to their
fellow campers and staff around them. The positive impact and encouragement
from fellow campers and staff play a huge role at camp. The proverb from wise
King Solomon very much applies at camp, “As iron sharpens iron, so a man
sharpens the countenance of his friend” (Prov 27:17).

A lot of thought and planning by the staff go into our camp schedule and
programme. The activities are carefully chosen to help our young people
develop trust, self-confidence, determination, the courage to face their fears,
develop leadership skills, become better team players, gain social skills, learn
basic rules of etiquette, and to form Godly bonds. We are thankful to the camp
staff who put in a lot of planning, resources and preparation to serve our young
people. God is truly calling, training and working with an awesome team of
future servant leaders whom He is preparing to rule the world (Luke 19:17).

The words of our camp anthem reflect the attitude and way of life that are so
evident at camp. All attendees set remarkable examples of love and service to
others and of enthusiasm in learning God’s way of life. Keep up the good work,
remember the lessons learned at camp and work on growing your personal
relationship with God during the year ahead. We look forward to another exciting
