Apolytikion for the Resurrection Tone 4
Τὸ φαιδρὸν τῆς Ἀναστάσεως κήρυγμα
When the women Disciples of the Lord had learned from the Angel the joyful message
of the Resurrection and had rejected the ancestral decision, they cried aloud to the
Apostles triumphantly: Death has been despoiled, Christ God has risen, granting His
great mercy to the world.
Apolytikion for St. Sophia Tone 3
Χαίρει ἔχουσα ἡ Ἐκκλησία, .
Having you and your three daughters, as a sacred boast the Church rejoices, and with gladness
she praises you, You are to me my pride and joy, as are the most precious relics of your children;
Oh Glorious Martyrs: Sophia, Faith, Hope and Love, intercede to Christ our God to save our
souls.
Kontakion
O Protection of Christians that cannot be put to shame, mediation unto the creator most con-
stant: O despise not the voices of those who have sinned; but be quick, O good one, to come
unto our aid, who in faith cry unto thee: Hasten to intercession and speed thou to make supplica-
tion, O thou who dost ever protect, O Theotokos, them that honor thee

Epistle Reading
The Reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Romans 10:1-10
BRETHREN, my heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be
saved. I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but it is not enlightened. For,
being ignorant of the righteousness that comes from God, and seeking to establish
their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. For Christ is the end of the law,
that every one who has faith may be justified. Moses writes that the man who practices
the righteousness which is based on the law shall live by it. But the righteousness based
on faith says, Do not say in your heart, "Who will ascend into heaven?" (that is, to bring
Christ down) or "Who will descend into the abyss?" (that is, to bring Christ up from the
dead). But what does it say? The word is near you, on your lips and in your heart (that
is, the word of faith which we preach); because, if you confess with your lips that Jesus
is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
For man believes with his heart and so is justified, and he confesses with his lips and so
Gospel Reading:
The Reading is from Matthew 8:28-34; 9:1
At that time, when Jesus came to the country of the Gergesenes, two demoniacs met
him, coming out of the tombs, so fierce that no one would pass that way. And behold,
they cried out, "What have you to do with us, O Son of God? Have you come here to
torment us before the time?" Now a herd of many swine was feeding at some distance
from them. And the demons begged him, "If you cast us out, send us away into the herd of
swine." And he said to them, "Go." So they came out and went into the swine; and be-
hold, the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea, and perished in the waters.
The herdsmen fled, and going into the city they told everything, and what had happened
to the demoniacs. And behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus; and when they saw
him, they begged him to leave their neighborhood. And getting into a boat he crossed
over and came to his own city.
Panagia Chapel
I encourage you all to submit the names of your loved ones, living and departed for
inclusion in the Panagia Chapel’s Holy Table. This is your opportunity to have your
loved one’s remember in perpetuity. With the consecration of the Panagia Chapel the
names submitted will be read and sealed in the Holy Alter along with the relics of
Three Saints. The names will be commemorated at every Divine Liturgy from that
point forth. This is a great joy and it is His Eminence’s prayer is that you will all take
be part of this blessing.
In addition to the submission of names, His Eminence has asked that each family in
our parish sponsor $30 towards the final steps in the construction process, including
the building of the roof. In the event that any of you feel that you cannot contribute
the $30 sponsorship, please let me know so that we can make proper arrangements
for your names to be included,

STEWARDSHIP
We thank the 138 parishioners for their stewardship commitment to the
Cathedral of St. Sophia.
We have yet to hear from 32% of you that pledged last year
As well as those who have not given.
Please prayerfully consider your gift and or your pledge in order to help us to
Maintain our financial responsibilities and grow our ministries
With a Annual Budget of $520,000 and a commitment from just over 192 families (in 2016,) it
takes $2700/ pledging family to finance our Spiritual Home.
$520,000 / 192 stewards.= $2708
As you can see from the chart on page 3 only 11% of the current pledges are at that level or
above.
Presently only 28% of our budget is paid for through stewardship gifts, This begs the question:
where does the rest of the money come from to support our Cathedral?
Answer:
The income comes from our Festival, Rentals & various Fundraisers. All of which makes us
very vulnerable to the weather, volunteer assistance, event participation and
the economy.
With your increased participation in Stewardship we will be able to do more and count less on
the above activities to support our Cathedral.
