A Brief History of Chi Hwa School

1912 年，甲必丹林文澄、侨领廖玉魁等筹办，借“谭公祖

庙”隔壁兴建木屋宿舍。收生三十多人，由一位塾师以客

语教学，授课四书、五经等。数年后中华商会筹办七年制

教学，易名为“中华学校第二分所”。1927 年，甲必丹林

文澄等先贤接办并改名为“启华学校”。1975 年获得蔡茸

龙先生捐献 S51 Westland 直升机，成为本校地标。1995

年，拿汀斯里邦里玛郭林美梅综合大礼堂落成。2002 年获

山打根区教育局评选为“四星级学校”。2012 年举办启华

一百周年庆典，同年本校荣获沙巴州“环境之友”最高荣

誉“环境之友导师奖”，及资源中心荣获沙巴州际资源中

心管理五星级奖。

The school was established in 1912 by Kapitan Lim Weng
Cheng, Chinese Leader Liau Yu Kui and others. It was
built next to Tam Kung Temple and used Hakka dialect
in teaching Chinese literature. In 1927, it was officially
named as Chi Hwa School. In 1975, a S51 Westland
helicopter was given to school and it becomes the
scenic landmark of the school. In 1995, the multipurpose
hall was completed and named after Datin Seri
Panglima Quek Lam Mei Moi. In 2002, school was
awarded ‘4-Star School Award’ by Sandakan District
Education Office. In 2012, school celebrated 100th
anniversary. In the same year, school was awarded
‘Eco School Mentor Award’ and ‘School Resource
Centre 5-Star Management Award’.
