1. Definition

Descriptive text is a kind of text in the form of spoken or written, which
gives the detail description of things, place, person, or animal.
2. Social Function
a. To give information about a particular entity by describing its features,

history, and special characteristics.
b. To give information about things by describing physical attributes,

behaviors, uses, etc.

Borobudur Temple

Borobudur temple is one of the most beautiful tourist resorts in
Indonesia. It is situated in central Java. Borobudur temple is one of the
seven wonders of the world which needs to be preserved its circumstances.
The people all over the world know that Borobudur is one of the greatest
art works that ever known since long time ago.

Borobudur temple was built by Syailendra Dynasty during the eighth
century. It needed more than two million river stones. It is the biggest
temple in the world.

After going into some restorations, Borobudur is visited by more and
more tourists, both domestic and foreign tourists. Most of them admire
Borobudur temple because of its beauty, its elegance and the story of the
relief on its walls.

Domestic tourists usually go there by bus or private cars, while
foreign tourists like to join travel bureau because they don’t need to think
of the transportation, accommodation, and itinerary. There are some
money changers around the location. It makes them easier to change their
money. But some of them like to bring credit cards and checks.

TASK 4: DISTINGUISHING THE TEXTS

Text 1
The Kudus Tower Mosque is also called Al Manar Mosque (“Tower Mosque”) is
the ancient mosque built by Sunan Kudus since 1549 AD (956 Hijri). The current
location is in Kauman Village, Kudus District, Central Java. There is uniqueness of
this mosque because it has a similar tower temple building and architectural
patterns that combine the concept of Islamic culture with Hindu-Buddhist culture
that shows the process of acculturation in Islamic jurisprudence.
The mosque was founded in 956 AH or 1549 AD. It is based on Arabic inscription
written on stone tablet that has 30 cm wide and 46 cm long located in mosque’s

mihrab. Also the first stone to build this mosque is using stone from Baitul
Maqdis in Palestine, therefore the mosque is then called Al Aqsa Mosque.

Way Kambas National Park is a national park for elephant sanctuary located in
Lampung precisely in the Labuhan Ratu sub district, East Lampung, Indonesia.
Way Kambas National Park, established in 1985, is the first school for elephant in
Indonesia. In the beginning of its establishment, Way Kambas National Park was
named the Elephant Training Center / Pusat Latihan Gajah (PLG), but the last few
years this name was changed into Elephant Conservation Center / Pusat
Konservasi Gajah (PKG), which is expected to become a center for elephant
conservation in taming, training, breeding and conserving elephants. Until now,
this PKG has trained for about 300 elephants which have been deployed to all
over the country.

In Way Kambas National Park, there are some endangered animals such as
Sumatran Rhinos, Sumatran elephant, Sumatran tiger, Mentok Rimba, and Buaya
sepit. There are also so some plants which are mostly found there such as Api-
api, Pidada, Nipah, and Pandan. On the marshy coasts of Way Kambas National
Park is often found various species of birds, such as, Lesser Adjutant, Pheasant
Blue, Kuau Raja, Pependang Timur, and some other birds.

Baiturrahman Great Mosque is a mosque of Sultanate of Aceh built by Sultan
Iskandar Muda Mahkota Alam in 1022 H / 1612. During the Sultanate of Aceh
Darussalam, In addition to the Holy Mosque in Makkah holy city, Baiturrahman
Great Mosque is also one of the Islamic learning center visited by people who
want to learn about Islam from all over the world.
For your information, when the Kingdom of the Netherlands attacked the
Sultanate of Aceh on the second Dutch aggression on the Shafar Month 1290
Hijriah or 10 April 1873 AD, Masjid Raya Baiturrahman burnt. Then, in 1877 the
Dutch rebuilt the Baiturrahman Great Mosque to attract the attention and
reduce the anger of the Acehnese.

Malioboro is the most famous street in Yogyakarta. Located in the heart of
Yogyakarta, this is the city’s main street.
Malioboro is the biggest shopping centre in Yogyakarta. There are many
interesting place in Malioboro,like distro,hotel,mall,restaurant and many more. It
is a good place for spending a lot of money. There are many facilities there like
mosque,toilet and etc. It’s free to use. In Malioboro the tourist can choose what
they want because there so many variety store.
If you want to buy clothes you can to distro or mall, or if you want to buy some
special snack from Yogya like "Bakpia Patok" you can buy it in special snack store
that can found along in Malioboro Street. If you are after some batik to take
home as a souvenir, then Malioboro is the right place for you. From house
dresses to formal batik wear, this street has them all. Batik can also be made into
bags, table cloths, bed sheets, pillow covers and a whole lot more. Kota Gede is
the silver workshop center.

TEXT:

The Great Wall Of China

The Great Wall of China is not just a long wall, it is a series of fortifications
consist of man-made separated walls, trenches, and natural defensive barriers
such as hills and rivers. The first construction of the wall during Qin Dynasty use
stone, brick, wood and other material to built the wall. After the first
construction, The Great Wall has been rebuilt, maintained and enhanced for
several times by several dynasty. The best-known and best preserved section
was built during the Ming Dynasty.
If you travel to China to see The Great Wall, what you will be visited might be the
remain of the wall built by the Ming Dynasty. The length of the wall built by the
Ming Dynasty was 8.851,8 kilometers, stretched from Hushan in Liaoning to
Jiayuguan Pass in Gansu. The average height of the wall is 23 to 26 feets. We will
also see some communication towers along the wall. There are three type of this
communication tower, the first was the one built on top of the wall, the second
type was built inside the wall, and the third was built separated from the wall to
scout the enemy. The wall is becoming shorter day by day because of natural
erosion and human activity.
