O B I T U A R Y BISHOP CATHERINE D. WIGGINS was born on August 21, 1940 in Kannapolis, North Carolina. She departed this life on Monday, January 1st, 2024. She was the only daughter of Jeffrow and Alice Peterson and had four brothers, John, Samuel, Woodrow II and Fredwood. She was the apple of Daddy Peterson’s eyes. Her family nicknamed her “Cat”. She always had her way in many things. She was a tomboy by nature and loved to play lots of sports. She always wrestled, played volleyball, football, soccer, climbed trees and she loved to dance. Her early educational years were in Kannapolis, North Carolina. Upon moving to Baltimore, Maryland in 1952, she attended Douglass High School. She later matriculated at Bay College and Coppin State University. Bishop Wiggins loved dogs and cats. She treasured her poodle Lady, her Rottweiler Kojak and her cat Snowball. Bishop Wiggins sang for many years with the gospel group, “True Loves”. Her favorite gospel singer was Shirley Caesar. Her favorite song was “No Charge”. Early on, her love for the Lord was evident in everything she endeavored. Nothing in life shined quite as bright as the work she did for God. It was her delight. In 1966, she was joined in marriage to Joe Wiggins. They met on the road while they were both singing. She was the proud mother of two sons Ronald and Warren. Bishop Wiggins was called to the ministry at a very young age. Initially, she did not believe in women preachers but God is a Persuader! She began working in God’s vineyard as an Evangelist. In 1968, God called her to the Office of a Pastor. God specified that the church would be called, “The Obedience Church of God, Inc.” which was a representation of God’s Will for His people and her devotion to God. Bishop Wiggins was truly a Bishop, Pastor, Leader and Preacher after God’s own heart. She loved and served God’s people diligently and intensely. Her labor and sacrifices were unending; watered by tears. If God said it; she did it. Many souls have been nurtured and brought to the Kingdom during her over-60 years of ministry. Ministries have grown due to her teaching, preaching and training. The fruits of her labor are numerous. For several years, God led her to reach beyond the church through mass media. She had Sunday morning radio broadcasts on stations WWIN and WSID. Bishop Wiggins was known for her strict teaching of the Word. She had an impactful manner of proclaiming the Gospel of Truth. She was fervent in prayer and taught her young people to seek God in prayer and fasting. Her fellow laborer in the Gospel was Assistant Pastor Evelyn Boykin who later became Overseer of the church. As only God can do, the two were both born on August 21st. They labored together for over 55 years. Overseer Boykin preceded Bishop Wiggins in death on January 31, 2019. Bishop Wiggins leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Ronald (Niecy) and Warren; and one daughter, Michelle; two brothers, Woodrow (Elaine) and Fredwood; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her extended family to include her cherished Obedience Church of God family.

Obedience Church of God 2613 Liberty Heights Avenue Baltimore, MD 21215 Church Resolution for Bishop Catherine D. Wiggins Whereas it has pleased the almighty God in His wise providence to remove from this congregation our beloved Pastor, Bishop Catherine D. Wiggins. She obeyed the Lord’s call to plant spiritual roots many years ago at the Obedience Church of God. She became Pastor in 1968 and served in holiness and obedience to the glory and honor of God. The Word of the Lord declares in Psalm 36:7a, “How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God!” Bishop Catherine D. Wiggins was a kind, friendly and caring person who loved God, her family and her church family. She was a great mother, preacher, teacher, counselor and friend. Moreover, GOD, in HIS merciful and infinite Wisdom, on Monday, January 1st, 2024 called Bishop Catherine D. Wiggins to triumph and peaceful rest in HIM. Take comfort in knowing that she was prepared for this journey. Bishop Wiggins was fully persuaded that she served a Savior Who is able to present her faultless before the throne of our GREAT GOD. We now take this opportunity to thank GOD for her victorious life, her witness and testimony, and we thank Him for what she meant to each of you. Be It Resolved, that we bow in humble submission to Him Who never makes a mistake and to remind the family and friends that our prayer for you is that the peace of GOD will sustain you, the love of GOD enfold you, and HIS comfort strengthen you today and in the days ahead. Humbly submitted on this 1st Day of February in the year of our Lord 2024. Done by the order of the Assistant Pastor, Officers and Members of the Obedience Church of God. Elder Michael Spriggs, Assistant Pastor

What a Friend We Have in Jesus What a friend we have in Jesus, All our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry Everything to God in prayer! Oh, what peace we often forfeit, Oh, what needless pain we bear, All because we do not carry Everything to God in prayer! Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged – Take it to the Lord in prayer. Can we find a friend so faithful, Who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness; Take it to the Lord in prayer. Are we weak and heavy-laden, Cumbered with a load of care? Precious Savior, still our refuge – Take it to the Lord in prayer. Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer! In His arms He’ll take and shield thee, Thou wilt find a solace there. f To Reward From labor to reward, the blessed angel came To take you home to heaven, for God had called your name. One of His choicest vessels you were found to be Worthy to be rewarded throughout eternity. With Love, The Obedience Church of God, Inc. Family
