Expressions of Gratitude
Perhaps you sung a lovely song, or sat quietly in a chair. Perhaps you
sent a floral piece, if so we saw it there. Perhaps you said the kindest
words as any friend could say. Perhaps you were not there at all, just
thought of us that day. Whatever you did to console our hearts, we
will always be grateful for whatever part.

Joseph Jones I was born August 18, 1930, in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Ada Daddy
and John Jones. He was affectionately known as “Joe Jones”, “Deedy”, “Uncle
Joe”, “Cap”,“Daddy”, “Poppadops”, and “Granddaddy”. When I think of my dad, I think of unconditional

Organizations (AFL-CIO). After retiring, Joe’s passion for teaching and general Love Gwen
contracting led him to start his own company, UMRATE, where he provided training
for contractors and taught men and women carpentry skills. He also served as HOA
President of the Greater Westhills Community for many years.
In 1949, Joe met and married Phyllis Rogers. From this union, three beautiful Dear Daddy
daughters (Yvonne, Gwen, and Debbie) were born. Joe took great pride in raising
“his three girls” as a single father. He enjoyed praying and singing with them, Daddy for 66+ years you have loved me,
