Remember the reason behind this joyous occasion as we celebrate throughout the night. Our story began in 2014 with a young girl saying, "no one from Baltimore ever makes it." Since then, it's been our mission to have all Baltimore youth feel worthy of achieving their wildest dreams. The Be. Org annually provides after-school enrichment programs in social-emotional learning, STEM, and college and career readiness for over 200 Baltimore region students. I created and currently direct G.I.V.E. (Grantwriting In Valued Environments), a BTU-supported project that advances students' professional writing goals by connecting their coursework to the writing needs of small non-profit organizations in the Baltimore/Washington region. I also am a co-creator of the Diversity Faculty Fellows Program in the Provost's Office and an active member of the Intergroup Dialogue community. Talib Horne leads the Foundation’s efforts to improve the health and well-being of young people and families throughout the city. Horne is a leader with more than 20 years of economic development and nonprofit experience. He most recently served as executive director of Bon Secours Community Works, leading a strategy to expand economic, educational, and health opportunities in several West Baltimore neighborhoods. He also previously served as vice president of community and economic development at the Living Classrooms Foundation and executive director of the East Harbor Development Corporation. Horne is a member of the Baltimore City Planning Commission. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from St. Mary’s College of Maryland, and a master’s in community economic development from Southern New Hampshire University’s School of Business.
