Discover the Benefits of a Water Taxi
Service
A water taxi service moving between two destinations would generally be
defined as a water vehicle rather than a regular bus or ferry. The word
water taxi is commonly limited to only a water vessel running on occasion,
and water bus for a water vehicle running on a regular schedule. The first
water taxi service was documented as operating from Manchester, England
to the French region of Alsace in France. The first water craft to leave from
Manchester bound for Alsace was a telegraphic water craft, which left from
the Boat Quay at Dacron, on the northern coast of England.
Water taxis operate in much the same way as regular buses except for the
fact that they are not strictly taxied vehicles and are therefore able to cross
state lines. Water taxis generally travel from point A to point B. Water bus
tours has become very popular in Europe. These tours usually stop at
designated places and allow travelers to enjoy a scenic ride along a river or
sea path while enjoying the scenery along the way. In fact, many water
taxis and water buses will make several stops along a well-trodden path so
that you can take in the scenery at each town you pass.
Taxis and water buses are similar in many ways. Both use electric motors
with onboard charging stations and both provide door to door service. The
main difference between a taxicab and a water taxi is that the latter does
not run on inland waterways and is not allowed to travel on any body of
water (besides lakes).
Taxis, also known as taxicabs, are privately owned vehicles driven by
drivers. Taxis are available in different sizes, often based upon the
distances between points A and B. Taxis are either diesel powered or
gasoline powered and can cruise at up to speeds of 50 mph. A taxicab,
unlike a water taxi, cannot carry more than nine people. They are only
allowed to carry passengers for trips within the European Union. Taxis are
not allowed to pick up passengers from land routes.
Water taxis, which are most often non-passenger vans, are extremely
popular among day trippers. These vans are available in numerous colors,
many with neon lights, and have interior televisions, mini bars, and full size
bathrooms. Generally they are smaller in size than regular taxicabs,
sometimes having just one seating capacity. Most water taxis have plush
seating, making for an extremely relaxing and enjoyable trip. Many
companies offer discounts to day trippers and some water taxis even
provide complimentary coffee.
Water taxis services are relatively new on the market and they are quickly
becoming popular in cities all over the world. Water-bus tours are becoming
quite popular throughout Europe. Tours of various water bodies like canals
and rivers are becoming a very popular sight for travelers. Sightseeing and
experiencing water along with a water-taxi ride is a unique experience. This
could be just what you're looking for to add a little thrill and excitement to
your trip.
