The Object of Rotary

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a
basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

 FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

 SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions, the

recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the
dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve
society;

 THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's

personal, business, and community life;

 FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill,

and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional
persons united in the ideal of service.

Rotary International President 2018-2019

Barry Rassin
Rotary Club of East Nassau
New Providence, Bahamas

Barry Rassin earned an MBA in health and hospital administration from
the University of Florida, and is the first fellow of the American College of
Healthcare Executives in the Bahamas. He recently retired after 37 years
as president of Doctors Hospital Health System and continues as an
adviser. He is a lifetime member of the American Hospital Association and
has served on several boards, including the Quality Council of the Bahamas,
Health Education Council, and Employer’s Confederation.
A Rotarian since 1980, Rassin has served Rotary as director and is vice
chair of The Rotary Foundation Board of Trustees. He was an RI training
leader and the aide to 2015-16 RI President K.R. Ravindran.
Rassin received Rotary's highest honor, the Service Above Self Award, as
well as other humanitarian awards for his work leading Rotary’s relief
efforts in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake there. He and his wife, Esther,
are Major Donors and Benefactors of The Rotary Foundation.

David retired from commercial banking in 2011, after a 32 year career,
22 years of which were served as President and CEO of a national
market NASD bank holding company. He then launched a new career
as a commercial real estate broker. Kim, is a career residential real
estate broker in Northeast Georgia.

David has held a vast array of responsibilities in his district and in
Zones 33 & 34 over the past two decades, and is currently the Rotary
International Director Elect for 2018-2020 in Zones 33 & 34. Kim is the
immediate Past District Governor of Rotary International District 6910
in North Georgia.

David and Kim enjoy much commonality in their marriage. Aside from
their mutual passion for both Rotary and real estate brokerage, they are
both instrument rated pilots in both land and sea categories, and enjoy
cooking, hiking, tennis, and boating together.

As humanitarians who enjoy putting back into their endeavors, David
and Kim are Level Three Major Donors of The Rotary Foundation, as
well as Level Three Bequest Society Members of The Rotary Foundation.

David has received the Four Avenues of Service Award for Individual
Rotarians, and has received both the Citation for Meritorious Service
and the Distinguished Service Award of The Rotary Foundation, its two
highest awards to individual Rotarians.

Court joined the Rotary Club of Harris County in the fall of 2000 and served
in almost every club position before becoming President for the 2007-2008
Rotary year. He was presented the Sheffield Award for Leadership as
Club President. He is also a Paul Harris Fellow, a Paul Harris Society
member, a Benefactor and a level 3 Bequest Society member. His proudest
accomplishment to date is a continuing service project building handicap
ramps for those in need.

His service doesn’t stop at the club level. Court has gone on to serve his
district as an Assistant Governor (3 years), District Vocational Chair
(2 years), PETS facilitator (4 years), Foundation Annual Giving co-Chair and
as a member of the District Training committee. Currently he serves on the
District Finance Committee and is the Chair for the House of Friendship at
District Conference in Hilton Head.

Court is more than just a Rotarian. He has served his community as the
Chairman of the Harris County Chamber of Commerce, the Chairman of
FOCUS, he is a Boy Scout Aviation Eagle instructor and a SCCA competition
driving instructor.

Court and his wife Annette live on site at their family owned resort, Pine
Mountain Club Chalets located near Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain,
GA. The 65 acre Family friendly Resort Destination has over 100 Chalets/
cabins for vacationers. Court is the second generation to serve as President,
following his parents, Courson and Gussie Dowis, who started the develop-
ment 45 years ago.

While growing up, Court and his family lived in Roswell, he then attended
Southern Tech in Marietta, GA, studying Architecture and Construction
Management. After college he worked for H.H. Robertson and M.M. Systems
until he started his own construction company in 1984 in Pine Mountain.
Ten years later he took the full time duties of the Resort as President.

Annette and Court have four grown children, Michael, Joe, Amanda and
Magen and five grandchildren that all live in the surrounding area. When he
isn’t volunteering, handling vacationers or spending time with his family,
he enjoys flying airplanes and racing formula sports cars.

Jim’s Rotary service and recognitions include Assistant Governor and the

member. He is Past President of the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs and
recipient of the District 6900 Sheffield Leadership Award, Club Rotarian
of the Year, two Service Above Self Awards, and sponsor of twelve Rotary
Club members.

A Certified Franchise Executive, Jim is Executive Vice President and Chief
Development Officer at Firestorm, overseeing franchise development and
alternative channel expansion for the brand. Firestorm is a national franchise
company specializing in crisis management, vulnerability analysis/threat
assessment, and business continuity. Jim is founding chairman of the
International Franchise Association’s Institute of Certified Franchise
Executives, and a former member of the IFA Board of Directors and the
Board of Trustees of the IFA Franchise Research and Education Foundation,
where he received the Foundation’s highest honor, the William Rosenberg
Leadership Award. On the local level he serves as Chairman Emeritus of the
Southeast Franchise Forum, and a member of the Georgia State University
Franchise Entrepreneurship Advisory Board.

Jim also maintains a high profile in the foodservice industry as Chairman
Emeritus of the Georgia Restaurant Association, and a member of Georgia
State University’s School of Hospitality Industry Advisory Board. He is past
president of the restaurant division of the Georgia Hospitality and Travel
Association, which presented him with the Chairman’s Award in 2003 and
designated him Food Service Industry Leader of the Year in 1990.

Jim lives in Sandy Springs, Georgia, and is a member of the City of Sandy
Springs Development Authority and American Legion Post 201. He and his
wife Donna are active members of Dunwoody United Methodist Church, and
they have a son and a daughter who have blessed them with three grandsons
and two granddaughters.

Kirk joined the Alpharetta Rotary Club, following in the footsteps of his
father, Ken Driskell, who was a charter member and past president of the
club. Kirk served as his Club’s President in 2015-2016. Prior to serving as
Club President, he served in multiple club leadership roles and was honored
to receive both, “Rookie of the Year” and “Rotarian of the Year” awards.
He has served on multiple International service trips and local community
service projects.

Kirk served as District 6900 Service Chair in 2016/17, is presently serving as
an Assistant Governor and will serve as the Public Image Chair in 2018/19.
He became a Major Donor in 2016/17 and continues to sup-
port the Foundation. During Kirk’s year as President, the club won numerous
awards, including Club of the Year and Best Membership Growth. Kirk was
also awarded the Sheffield Award, which recognizes the top President in each
of the four club categories for that year. Rotary International recognized
Kirk by presenting him with the Rotary Choice Award for a personal video he
uses to describe what being a Rotarian means to him. Link to Video

A native to the Alpharetta/Milton area, Kirk continues to live there
with his wife, Deena, and their three children, Cambri (15), Knox (13)
and Kolton (10). Kirk graduated from Reinhardt University, where
he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business. Continuing the family
tradition, his daughter Cambri recently launched an Interact Club at
King’s Ridge Christian School with close to 50 of her peers.

Kirk is a serial entrepreneur and outdoor enthusiast that builds,
buys, or creates companies that provide opportunities for individuals
to align their passions with their purpose. Beyond his family and
his faith, his true passion in life is helping men struggling with
addiction. Kirk founded Vision Warriors, a sober living environment
that focuses on community, accountability, and transparency.
Vision Warriors provides support for men who are ready to fight their
drug and alcohol addictions.

Alec is the principle at Team Forte, a strategy and marketing consulting
firm based in Atlanta.

After graduating from Harvard College in 1973 with a degree in economics,
Alec joined Citibank, spending 19 years there in New York, Minneapolis and
Chicago and rising to Senior Vice President for Product Management in the
U.S. Consumer Bank. He relocated to Atlanta and joined Prudential Bank
as Executive Vice President from 1992 to 1997. From 1997 to 1999, he
was Senior Vice President of Marketing for Equifax. In 2000, he founded
CollectionsX, an Internet startup dedicated to creating an online auction
market for charged off consumer debt. In 2002, he established Team Forte,
where he advises a broad range of clients on business strategy, marketing
strategy, product development and campaign development.

Alec is an experienced business executive with broad line and staff manage-
ment experience in financial and information services and a track record of
improving revenue and profits.
 40 years of experience in both line and staff positions in diverse

corporate roles and settings

 Strong, balanced skill base encompassing entrepreneurial vision and
energy, strategic analysis and development; product and sales
management; people management; marketing; finance; and information
technology, coupled with strengths in personal leadership, matrix
teamwork, creativity, and intellectual horsepower.

Alec joined the Rotary Club of Buckhead in December, 2002. He has served
his club variously as Program Chair, Communications Chair, Webmaster,
Photography Chair, GRSP Host Family, Board Member, Buckhead Rotary
Foundation Trustee, Treasurer, Secretary, President Elect, and President.
For District 6900 he has served as Technology Chair and Strategic Planning
Chair. He is a Paul Harris Fellow +5 with the Rotary Foundation, a Will
Watt Fellow with the GRSP Foundation and a Tom Slaughter Fellow and
an Otis Jackson Fellow with the Buckhead Rotary Foundation.

He and his wife Donna, a Rotarian in the Roswell Club, have three grown
daughters and one grandson.

RLI Overview: To maintain and enhance the strength of
our clubs, our future leaders and newer Rotarians are
encouraged to attend the Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI),
a series of courses offered in three one-day parts taken in

sequence, all on Saturdays.
The purpose of RLI is to enhance the participants’ knowledge
of Rotary and to provide them with leadership skills for use in
Rotary and other volunteer-based organizations.
The cost of each part is $100. Check course schedule, register
and pay online at www.rlitraining.org. Registration closes

10 days prior to the event.

Georgia Rotary Student Program 2018-2019

Since the inception of GRSP thousands of young men and women
from 82 countries have come to the campuses of Georgia institutions
of higher learning on scholarships which cover the cost of tuition,
books, meals and a small cash allowance for personal expenses.
The purpose is to promote international understanding. The
duration of the scholarship is limited to one year to provide the
opportunity to benefit a maximum number of students.

GRSP is distinct and separate from scholarships funded by the
Rotary Foundation of Rotary International. While both reflect
“Rotary in Action” GRSP is unique to the Rotary Clubs in the state
of Georgia. It has a proud tradition and is the only program of its
kind in the Rotary world.
