General Notes

The worksheets in this book may be used as a
supplemental resource, specifically for KSSR Year 1
pupils who have difficulty forming and writing the
letters of the English and Bahasa Melayu alphabets.

However, all the worksheets in this book may be
used for all pupils, Years 1 to 6, who need to
improve their letter-writing abilities.

There are two sections:

Section 1:
One 4-Lined Writing Paper Reproducible Sheet
One 7-Keystrokes Writing Reproducible Worksheet

Section 2:
Three Reproducible Letter-Writing Practice
Worksheets with increasing difficulty for each of the
26 letters of the English and Bahasa Melayu
alphabets.

Section 1

This section contains the reproducible 4-lined-paper
sheet that may be photocopied and distributed to
each pupil for all letter-writing exercises.

This section also contains the reproducible 7-
keystrokes worksheet that may be photocopied and
distributed to each pupil for all letter-writing
exercises.

Instructions

The teacher is encouraged to teach the 7 keystrokes
for at least the first week, before teaching actual
letter writing.

Important Note

This worksheet can be used as a diagnostic tool to
discover which pupils have difficulty in writing the 7
keystrokes according to the directions given. It is
recommended that the teacher have his/her
students master this worksheet before continuing

with the worksheets in Section 2 of this book.

Section 2

This section contains the three reproducible letter-
writing practice worksheets, with increasing
difficulty, for each of the 26 letters of the English
and Bahasa Melayu alphabets that may be
photocopied and distributed to each pupil for all
supplemental letter-writing exercises.

Instructions

After the pupils have mastered writing the 7
keystrokes, the teacher may begin teaching pupils
to write each letter of the alphabet as it appears in
the KSSR Year 1 English Student Textbook and
Workbook.

Important Note

Please do not rush the pupils or get discouraged.
Some will need more time to master their writing
skills, and you can always send worksheets home
for them to practice under their parents’
supervision. Encourage all their efforts, even the
smallest ones, and you will see great results!

The teacher is encouraged to start each pupil with

After pupils have mastered the first worksheet, the
teacher may proceed to the next worksheet:
Step 2: Moderate – Trace and Write Each Letter

Finally, when pupils have mastered the second
worksheet, the teacher may proceed to final one:
Step 3: Difficult – Write Each Letter

Important Notes

These worksheets may also be used as a filler
exercise at the end of class if the pupils need extra
work to keep them focussed and occupied.

Encourage the pupils to have fun when doing these
worksheets and reward good work with stickers or
stamps. Create a place on the classroom wall to
display the “Best” and “Most Improved” work.
Pupils will appreciate having their best work
displayed for all to see!
