5.1 TRIAL BALANCE ⮚ Trial balance is a statement prepared based on account balances in the ledgers at the end of an accounting period. ⮚ All account with debit balances will be listed in the debit side, while accounts with credit balances will be listed in the credit side ⮚ The total debit amount must be equal to the total credit amount. If the amounts are not balanced or not equal, this means that errors or mistakes occurred.


5.1 PURPOSE OF TRIAL BALANCE To prepare financial statement Preparing of trial balance helps to detect errors within a given time period To verify the accuracy of postings from the book of original entry to ledger To verify the accuracy of double entries To check the accuracy of calculation
