Freemason Ramon Llull Lodge No.9, Ladies’ Dinner Dance Charity

Report and photography
by Ken & Angela Ross

Once again it was with both delight and great respect that Ken and Angela Ross (Celebrity Magazine) attended the
very private and glamorous event of the Ladies Charity Dinner Dance, hosted by the Freemason Lodge Ramon Llull
No.9.
This year, the formal Black-Tie occasion was headed by The Worshipful Master Ron De Graeve, with the Director
of Ceremonies, W. Bro. Bernard Smith, overseeing the formalities. Traditionally this is an annual event, held at the
Santa Ponsa Golf Hotel that is organised by the Lodge Brethren in honour (and gratitude) to the ladies for allowing
their husbands to attend the regular Lodge meetings during the year.
The evening commenced with glasses of chilled cava served on the terraces, followed with a three-course dinner
complimented with selected wines, being served in the function hall of the hotel.
Whilst the evening started with a more formal atmosphere and included several welcoming speeches, toasts and
presentations, it was after all a celebration for all the hard work done by the brothers for charities during the year plus
a show of gratitude towards their ladies – so a little of ‘letting the hair down’ was in order, certainly a most joyous
(and at times hilarious) evening was had by all.
Of course the meetings and functions of the Lodge do usually have a more serious side, This year the Ramon Llul
Lodge No.9 has completed several charity projects and has given donations to the Red Cross of Alcudia (donation
of one thousand euro), the English Speaking Cancer Support Group, situated at the Son Espases (donation of five
hundred euro), and the Spanish Cancer Charity the AECC, cancer support group for the Balearic Islands, (donation
of five hundred euro).
Each of these donations was gratefully received by all three associations.
Freemasonry is this year celebrating 300 years of existence. The Ramon Llull Lodge No.9 will continue to work to
raise money for charity over next year. Anyone who would like to help in raising money for charity or who may have
interest can contact the Lodge secretary via email: [email protected] or through the website: www.rl9.org

There always is the standard (if even
possibly boring) formal group photograph
to bear witness to some social affair or
other - but no formal stuffy photo in the

case of these fun guys - following the
trend of the ‘Mannequin Challenge’
(freeze-framing) in which television

and sports stars from all around the
world are daily competing for the very
best freeze-photograph -
well, this is our first entry -
Freemason Ramon Llull Lodge No.9.
