主 席 博大佛学校友会的意义

的话

成为佛教徒是一生的承诺。即使一个人已经从大学毕业，一个人也很难休息，并认为
学习过程已经结束。作为佛教徒，我们不断地从事一种追求——证悟圆满智慧。

首先，我要感谢编辑委员会让我有机会在博大佛学校友会的这本创刊版杂志上撰稿。

对所有以前和现在的博大佛学校友会理事、博大佛学校友会购置会所计划的委员会、
博大佛学会的校友以及所有直接或间接参与使博大佛学校友会购置会所项目成功的
人， 善哉，善哉，善哉。

卑微的开始

虽然博大佛学校友会于 2006 年 6 月 15 日正式注册，但校友活动可以追溯到 1990 年
代初期。因此，博大佛学校友会已经走过了漫长的道路。在最初15年，直到2021年，
博大佛学校友会事务被设计成主要以围绕“无家可归”的模式运行。博大佛学校友会
的理事采用“无家可归”模式，依靠各种佛教组织的善意和支持来举办我们的会议、
活动、工作坊等。管理博大佛学校友会面临着许多挑战，其中之一是寻找举行讨论、
会议和活动的实体场所。在2020年2019年新型冠状病毒肺炎大流行席卷全球之前，
博大佛学校友会的事务是面对面进行的。各种博大佛学校友会的资产和文件通常理事
团成员家中临时分发和单独存储。除了博大佛学校友会自身的内部挑战，博大佛学校
友会还考虑能够提供一个实体场所来支持博大佛学会的活动。随着大学当局每年的政
策变化，在博特拉大学校园内申请举办博大佛学会活动的场地也有了一定程度的挑
战。因此，本着博大佛学校友会自成立以来的愿望，为博特拉大学的博大佛学会在籍
生提供一个场所，让博大佛学会更好地在博特拉大学校园内传播佛法，也成为博大佛
学校友会的一项重要使命。这些挑战促成了博大佛学校友会的购置会所议程，即 1) 作
为博大佛学校友会的行政办公处、官方通信地址和资产存储； 2) 博大佛学校友会活
动的永久场所，供校友们聚会； 3) 博大佛学会以及其他佛教组织的活动场所。

期待已久的里程碑

我真的很荣幸能参与这次旅程，帮助博大佛学校友会实现一个会所，一个我们可以称
之为家的地方。 博大佛学校友会已经走过了漫长的道路，达到了拥有一个会所的里
程碑。事实上，博大佛学校友会早在2006年在雪兰莪社团注册局注册以来，我们就设
想，在发展博大佛学校友会的努力中，它将包括拥有自己的中心。设立会所的的动议
在2012年的年度会员大会上获得通过，随后不久开始为该会所筹集资金。我们花了好
几年的时间，一路上面临着许多挑战。终于在2019年，因缘开始落实到位。 2019 年
8月25日召开了一次特别会员大会，讨论购买斯里沙登单位的提答，该单位最终成为
我们今天拥有的博大佛学校友会中心。但是，我们的装修资金短缺，所以进行了第二
轮的装修资金募集。它发生在2019年新型冠状病毒肺炎大流行的二年期间。挑战就在
那里，但我们做到了。最后，博大佛学校友会中心于2022年1月1日进行了启用仪式。
随着2019年新型冠状病毒肺相关限制的放宽，理事团决定配合博大佛学校友会的第16
周年纪念日，在2022年6月19日正举办博大佛学校友会会所的落成仪式。

过去塑造现在，现在塑造未来；我们从这里去哪里？

从“无家可归”到拥有一个可以称之为家的地方；预计该会所将成为博大佛学校友会的转捩
点，让博大佛学校友会继续努力耕耘，并达到前所未有的高度，和在条件更好的情况下为马来
西亚佛教的发展做出贡献。博大佛学校友会位于马来西亚佛教界的一个利基领域，其两个主要
利益相关者是博特拉大学佛教徒校友和博大佛学会的本科生，但不要忘记更大的社区：佛教界
以及整个马来西亚社会。博大佛学校友会可以而且应该在连接这三个领域中发挥作用。在每一
个社会中，大学都代表着最高的顶峰。这是每一代最聪明的人相遇和互动的地方。这是一个挑
战现有想法和知识，产生新想法和知识的地方。这是一个过去的智慧与现在的好奇心相遇的地
方。

博大佛学校友会的利益相关者属于这群人，无论是现在还是过去。如果期望大学毕业
生在一个国家的发展中发挥重要作用，那么在逻辑上也应该假设大学毕业生进入佛教
界也是如此。如果希望大学毕业生发挥领导作用并将社会塑造成一个更好的地方，那
么大学佛教毕业生也是如此。因此，在这方面，博大佛学校友会处于为这些使命提供
催化剂的最佳利基位置：1）继续在校友中进行法情培养，以继续学习和实践佛陀的教
义； 2) 提供支持和启发，专门（但不限于）在博大佛学会培养佛教本科生成为未来
的佛教领袖；最后但并非最不重要的 3) 倡导博大佛学会的佛教徒校友们努力为佛教界
和更广泛的马来西亚社会的发展做出贡献。因此，博大佛学校友会有很多崇高的事业
可以耕耘。所有这些，都是为了努力建立一个人人善良的和谐社会，无论是佛教徒或
其他人。因为，在一天结束的时候，人类会遭受不满足的条件，或者在巴利语中——
dukkha。培养慈悲和智慧，做功德是我们作为佛教徒需要采取的灭苦的道路。我将引
用阿姜卡利亚诺的话来结束我的著作：

“那你不修善，哪来善来照顾你，保护你一生？我们需要做功德的原因之一是，在到
达真正安全的彼岸之前，我们无法确定要穿越轮回之海多远。一个聪明的人会为那次
旅程准备一些资粮。 “

Being a Buddhist is a lifelong commitment. Even though one has graduated from a university, one can
hardly rest and think the learning process has ended. As Buddhist, we are continually engaged in one
pursuit -- the attainment of Perfect Wisdom.

First and foremost, I wish to thank the editorial board for giving me the opportunity to pen in this special
edition magazine of PBUPM-A.

Three big sadhus to all previous and current PBUPM-A EXCO, committees of PBUPM-A centre project,
fellow alumni of PBUPM, all those directly or indirectly involved in making this PBUPM-A centre project
a success.

The humble beginning

Although PBUPM-A was officially registered on the 15 June 2006, but the alumni activities could be
traced way back to the early 1990s. So, PBUPM-A has come a long way. In the first 15 years, up
until 2021, PBUPM-A affairs were designed and run primarily around a “homelessness” mode. With a
“homelessness” mode, the committees of PBUPM-A relied upon the goodwill and support of various
Buddhist organisation for venue to have our meetings, activities, workshop etc. Having to manage
PBUPM-A comes with many challenges, among them, getting a physical venue to hold discussion,
meetings and activities. Before the Covid-19 pandemic hit the world in 2020, PBUPM-A’s affairs are
conducted very much face to face. And various PBUPM-A assets and documents are often temporarily
distributed and stored separately among committee members’ home. Besides PBUPM-A’s own internal
challenges, there was also consideration by PBUPM-A to be able to provide a physical venue to support
the activities of PBUPM. With changing policies by the university authorities from year to year, applying
a venue in the UPM campus for PBUPM activities poses a degree of challenge too. Hence, in line with
the aspiration of PBUPM-A since its formation, it too becomes an important mission for PBUPM-A to
provide a venue to our fellow undergraduates in PBUPM so that PBUPM can better propagate the
Buddha’s teachings in UPM campus. All these challenges prompted PBUPM-A's centre agenda, which
are 1) As the administration office of PBUPM-A: official correspondence address and storage of asset;
2) A permanent venue for PBUPM-A’s activities, for fellow alumni to get together; 3) A activity venue for
PBUPM as well as other Buddhist organisation.

The long-awaited milestone

I am indeed honoured to be part of this journey to help PBUPM-A realised a centre, a place we can
call home. PBUPM-A has come a long way reaching this milestone of having a centre. In fact, since
PBUPM-A was registered with Registrar of Society Selangor back in 2006, we have envisioned that,
among the efforts to develop PBUPM-A, it would include having its own centre. The motion to have
a centre was passed during AGM in 2012, whereby fund raising for the centre followed soon after. It
took us quite a few years, with numerous challenges faced along the way. And finally in 2019, things
started to fall into place. An EGM was called on 25 Aug 2019 regarding the resolution to purchase a Sri
Serdang unit, which eventually becomes the PBUPM-A centre we have today. However, we were short
of funds for renovation, so a second round of fundraising for renovation funds was carried out. And it
took place during the 2 years of Covid pandemic. The challenge was there, but we managed it. And
finally, a soft launch of PBUPM-A Centre was carried out on 1 Jan 2022. With the easing of Covid related
restrictions, the committees decided have the official launch of PBUPM-A on 19 Jun 2022, in conjunction
with PBUPM-A’s 16th anniversary.

Past shaped present, present shaping future; where do we go from here?

From “homelessness” to having a place we can call home; it is envisioned that the centre will be a game
changer for PBUPM-A, for PBUPM-A to strive and achieve greater heights than never before and to
be equipped with better criteria to play a role in contributing towards the development of Buddhism in
Malaysia. PBUPM-A is in a niche area within the Buddhist community in Malaysia, whereby its 2 main
stakeholders are the UPM Buddhist alumni and the undergraduates of PBUPM, but not forgetting the
larger community: the Buddhist community as well as the Malaysian society in general. PBUPM-A can
and should play a role in connecting these 3 areas. In every society, the university represents the highest
pinnacle. It is a place where the most intelligent people in every generation meet and interact. It is a
place where existing ideas and knowledge are challenged, new ideas and knowledge are generated.
It is a place where the wisdom of the past meets with the curiosity of the present. The stakeholders
of PBUPM-A belong to this group of people, either present of in the past. If university graduates are
expected to play a major role in the development of a nation, one should also logically assume to be the
case for varsity Buddhist graduate to the Buddhist community. If university graduates are expected to
show leadership role and shape the society into a better place, so do varsity Buddhist graduates. Hence,
in this aspect, PBUPM-A is in the best niche position to provide the catalyst towards these missions: 1)
To continue the kalyana-mitra-ship among fellow alumni to continue learning and practising the Buddha’s
teaching; 2) Providing the support and inspiration to nurture Buddhist undergraduates specifically (but
not confined to) in PBUPM to be future Buddhist leaders; and last but not least 3) To advocate fellow
Buddhist alumni of PBUPM to strive to contribute towards the development of the Buddhist community
as well as a wider Malaysian society. Hence, there are plenty of noble cause for PBUPM-A to strive for.
All these, are for striving towards a harmonious society with goodness within all, regardless Buddhist or
otherwise. Because, at the end of the day, humanity suffers from the conditionings of unsatisfactoriness,
or in Pali – dukkha. Cultivating compassion and wisdom, making merits is the path we, as Buddhist need
to take to end dukkha. And I shall end my writings with a quote from Ajahn Kalyano:

“If you do not cultivate goodness then, where will you find the goodness to look after you and protect
you in your life?

One of the reasons we need to make merit is that we can’t be sure how far we will have to travel across
the ocean of samsara until we reach the true safety of the other shore. A wise person will prepare some
provisions for that journey. “

记录、通知和启发。这是刊物（无论是列印还是电子版）可以发挥的功能。

时间的流逝、记忆的衰退、口述的局限、时代的传承等现实情况都可能导致人事物的
记载无法被完整地还原，让后代对于早期的缘起、发展史和关键事件缺乏可靠的参
考，甚至可能因此产生错误的解读。回想起在学士第三年承担博特拉大学佛学会（博
大佛学会）内务秘书时，曾经在任期内发起资料重整计划，其中的一个心愿是希望通
过整理和汇集博大佛学会过去人事物的故事，以便能够让现在的人了解以前的因缘，
也能继续为未来的一代整合成为一个有公信力的参考。奈何，自身的精力有限，加上
缺乏对于博大佛学会的整体生态的了解导致改计划在完成实体整理和基本的简介就不
了了之了。在佛学会的承担时间有限，加上每个星期都有需要出席的会议、参与的活
动和应付的责任，不同的理事对于会务也有不同的优先次序，若要完成资料重整实属
一大挑战。

在学士第四年，在因缘巧合下我加入了马佛青对外关系委员会，有机会在对外场合看
过不同包括华团、各宗教组织等的刊物，开始感受到刊物对于一个组织的重要性。它
的角色堪比门户网页、字典甚至百科全书。在2018年成为马佛青雪隆州联副主席和全
国理事后，我有更多机会接触不同传承的佛教组织，包括会员团体、独立性的佛教组
织\寺院、全国性组织、区域性卒子和跨国性组织。部分组织在佛教或组织资料保存和
呈现的努力让我更深入地体悟到出版的价值。在2021年成为马佛青总秘书的前后，自
己在短时间内阅读了马佛青会务顾问梁国兴居士的《心航》和马佛青会务顾问吴德福
的《爱教心 护法行》，对于自己在适应承担这个全国性组织的要职起了显著的帮助。
前者弥补了我对于马佛青早期成立和逐步扩展的知识空缺，也让我认识了更多前辈的
无私奉献和前瞻视野。梁国兴居士的承担经验分享和其在个人和组织层面见识、态度
与格局的成长是促使我即使在没有承担过秘书处也敢于做出竞选总秘书的原因之一。
阅读后者则让我了解到情理兼容、领导应具备的思维和做决定的考量。即使我没有参
与那个时代的马佛青，读了里面的内容却是涌起一股使命感，感觉就像观看纪录片，
能够投入自身到各角色的心境。

综合上述的经验和感触，无可否认刊物对于博大佛学校友会这个组织是具有意义的。
因此，在2018-2022理事团构思蓝图时在系统的领域下我提出了需要有会刊和介绍短
片的提议。种种不同的因素，包括个人突如其来人生角色的巨大改变导致这次会刊并
不能以100%原有的安排出炉，但希望这第一期的会刊能够达到抛砖引玉的效果，之后
能吸引更多擅长不同领域（采访、排版、备稿、设计等）的校友一起加入编委会，为
博大佛学校友会和校友们在出版和记录方面奉献所能。会刊可以超越只是组织介绍和
活动计入，它也可以记载校友生活、职业、学佛服务等的故事，是属于校友们的共同
记忆体。这是一群人的任务，记载着一群人为了‘延续法情，同修法理’的目标前进
的故事。

Record, inform, and inspire. These are the functions that can be performed by publication (whether it is in
print or electronic version).

Various real-life situations including the passing of time, deterioration of memory, limitation of word by
mouth, and succession of generation could result in records on people, incidents, and things being
unable to be recovered completely, causing the new generations to be devoid of a credible reference on
origins at the early stage, development history, and key incidents. In some cases, it may even result in
inaccurate interpretations. Recalling the time when I was undertaking the role of Secretary (Internal Affairs)
of Persatuan Buddhist Universiti Putra Malaysia (PBUPM), I initiated data reformation project during my
tenure with one of the objectives being tidying and compiling the people, incidents, and things in the past,
so that the people in the present can understand the cause-effect relationship of what happened in the
past, compiling continuously a credible reference for the future generations. Unfortunately, due to the
limitation of own energy and lack of understanding on the whole ecosystem of PBUPM, the project came
to a halt after completing only the physical tidying and basic introduction. The duration of undertaking in
PBUPM was limited, coupled with the fact that there were meetings to attend, activities to participate in,
and responsibilities to carry out, and also different priority of different EXCO members. These factors make
completing data reformation a big challenge.

In the fourth year of Bachelor’s Degree, I joined by chance the External Relations Committee of Young
Buddhist Association of Malaysia (YBAM), having the opportunity to view the publication of non-Buddhist
organisations including Chinese organisations, religious organisations,etc, starting to realise the importance
of publication towards an organisation. Its role is comparable to a landing webpage, a dictionary or even an
encyclopedia. When I became the Vice Chairperson of KL/Selangor State Liaison Committee and National
Council of YBAM in 2018, I had more opportunities to engage with Buddhist organisations of different
schools, including member organisatons, individual Buddhist society/temple, national organisations,
regional organisations, and transnational organisations. The efforts of preserving and presenting data by
some organisations enable me to realise deeply the value of publication. Before and after becoming the
General Secretary of YBAM, I finished reading the ‘An Inward Journey’ written by YBAM Lay Advisor Bro.
Leong Kok Hing and ‘Ai Jiao Xin Hu Fa Xing’ by Bro. Goh Tay Hock in a short period of time, providing
significant help to my adaptation to the prominent role of this national organisation. The former made up for
the gap in my knowledge about the early establishment and gradual expansion of YBAM, and also allowed
me to know more of the selfless dedication and forward-looking horizon of my predecessors. Bro. Leong
Kok Hing's sharing of his experience of undertaking and the growth in insights, attitude, and altitude on the
personal and organizational levels was one of the reasons why I decided to run courageously for General
Secretary even if I had no prior experience in the secretariat. Reading the latter taught me about empathy,
mindset that should be possessed by a leader, and considerations when making decision. Even though I
did not participate in YBAM of that era, I felt a sense of mission when I read the content. It felt like watching
a documentary and I was able to immerse myself in the state of mind of each character.

Based on the aforementioned experiences and feelings, it is undeniable that publication is of significance
to the PBUPM-A. Therefore, when the 2018-2022 EXCO board conceived the blueprint, I put forward the
proposals to produce a PBUPM-A biannual magazine and an introduction video in the field of system. A
variety of different factors, including the sudden change of personal roles in life, led to the fact that this
biannual magazine could not be produced in 100% of the original arrangement. However, I hope that this
first issue of the biannual magazine can achieve the effect of planting seeds for better version in the future,
attracting more alumni competent in various field (interview, typesetting, report preparation, design, etc.) to
join the editorial board and contribute to the publication and recording PBUPM-A and alumni. The bulletin
can go beyond the introduction and events of PBUPM-A. It can also record the stories of alumni’ life, career,
Buddhist services, etc., and acts as a common memory for alumni. This is the task of a group of people,
and it records the story of a group of people moving forward towards the goal of ‘continuing the spiritual
companionship, together we practise the Buddha-Dharma’.

博大佛学校友会发展史

孕育期 (1988-1994) 成长期 (2006-2018)
成立博大佛学校友会的努力，早于1988年就开 2006年6月15日，校友会在雪州社团注册局注
始了。1987年，由于受到“茅草行动”的牵连，农 册成功。隔年，黄光裕师兄与同届毕业生出任校友会

Development History of PBUPM-A

Conception Phase (1988-1994) Growing Phase (2006-2018)
The efforts to initiate PBUPM-A was started as early as On 15th Mac 2006, Persatuan Upasama Paricaya Maha-

11.12.2019 The proposal on purchasing a center was officially approved during the AGM of PBUPM-A

博大佛学校友会理事议决召开特别会员大会进行是否购置会所的表决。

18-19.06.2022 在沙登佛教会召开的特别会员大会通过购置会所的提案。
The proposal to purchase the center was approved during the EGM held at Serdang
Buddhist Association.

购置会所的法律程序在颜志伟律师的协助下正式完成，由当届主席、秘书和财政在许颜廖张律师事
务所完成程序。
The legal procedures of purchasing the center were completed with the help of Gan Chee
Wei as a lawyer. The procedures were completed by the present President, Secretary, and
Treasurer at Koh Gan Lian & Teoh Advocates & Solicitors.

博大佛学校友会理事正式拿到会所的钥匙。
PBUPM-A EXCO obtained officially the key of the center.

2020年博大佛学校友会常年大会和会所洒净仪式在博大佛学校友会会所进行。仪式由博大佛学校
友会会所筹建基金会宗教顾问如洁法师主持。该常年大会也见证了20220-2022博大佛学校友会理
事团的诞生。
PBUPM-A AGM 2020 and Blessing Ceremony of PBUPM-A Center was held at the
PBUPM-A Center. The ceremony was hosted by the Religious Advisor of Building Fund
Committee. The AGM also witnessed the appointment of 2020-2022 PBUPM-A EXCO.
