High School Batch of 1974 of the Generosa de Leon Memorial College(GDLMC - CEU Paranaque) is celebrating its 50th - Golden this year. It allstarted in August 2000 when 26 batchmates attended the get together. Asexpected chaos broke in as everyone was very happy, excited, catchingup and taking photos. Plans laid out for the Grand Alumni Homecomingin 2001. Batch representatives attended the January 2001 Grand AlumniHomecoming and showed their dancing prowess. We celebrated our 25years in 2001 in Binangonan. We were graced with the presence of Ms.Giron, Mrs. Tiongco and other classmates from overseas. After which wehad a series of meetings, get together, Christmas parties and Skye withUSA batchmates.After 10 years, a big event culminated. Celebrating the 38th year. Thecore team were busy making preparations to make this event a success.Preparations and assignments, dance practices, many meetings overluncheons, coffee and locating other batchmates. The team meticulouslyprepared the program, finances, sponsorships and souvenirs. Finally,February 18, 2012 at the Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park in Kawit,Cavite was held. Registration started in the afternoon and chika time. Theprogram started with a Thanksgiving Mass - gratitude to the Lord for theso many blessings & graces granted to all of us. 73 batchmates (6 comingfrom abroad/overseas) and 10 faculty members attended the big event.Pictures, pictures, more pictures in different forms, sizes, and shapes.Remembering the faces during high school days that we have not seenfor 38 years. Beautiful interpretative dance of Elaine Palpal-latoc Matano,a graceful Hawaiian dance from Cheryl Francisco Rafael and dances byParanaque and Bacoor groups were presented. Sumptuous dinner withlechon was served. Stomach full, laughter and fun, like the good old HighSchool days. Adding to the fun were raffles and prizes for batchmates. Wewere all happy to see each other.After two years, despite the core team’s busyness in their respective jobs,career and family life, preparations for 40th Ruby Jubilee ofBatch 1974 wasplanned. To raise funds for the reunion, a Ruby Jubilee Souvenir Programwas designed and substantial sponsorships from fellow batchmates,suppliers, colleagues were received.. The Souvenir program highlightedthe messages from Dr. Paz Lucido, Dr. Rosita Lozano Navarro, the thennow photos of batchmates, different events/gatherings of the batch andacknowledgment of sponsors.The 40th Ruby Jubilee was held on February 22, 2014 at the Acacia Hotel.40 Escolarinas attended the 40th Reunion. The program started with a HolyMass, thanksgiving for gathering us again to celebrate this momentousevent. Rendering/remembering our “Himno del Centro Escolar”. In 2017, a group of 12 (4 coming from the Philippines) met in San Franciscoand Napa Valley, California for a reunion. It was a short but memorable one.We gathered once more to enjoy and meet classmates, batchmates thatbecame friends and family. Our 45th year High School Reunion at VikingsEvent Hall on March 16, 2019. Attended by 53 batchmates. Short but fun, linedup with various selections of food from the buffet table, dance presentations from the “Hot Mommas” and Core Team. Election of Committee for the 50thAnniversary headed by our Chairman - Liwi Elizares was created.Off to our 50th Year. 2024. We had our summer outing in November 2023in Triple L Resort courtesy of our good host Ana Mangalino Ling. As thegroup enjoyed the place and the camaraderie, we decided to have the 50thReunion at the Triple L Resort on February 24-25, 2024. Before proceeding tothe venue, batchmates passed by the National Shrine of Our Lady of Peaceand Good Voyage - paying homage to our Lady and praying for a successfulreunion. Arriving at 10 AM morning snacks awaits the group. An informal gatheringfollows, games, raffles, karaoke and dancing. Buffet dinner, video showing,Rosette photos - now & then and more dancing.Next day, February 25, the Seniors at 66’s/67’s did the Zumba with flyingcolors - Seniors together. To our surprise, a group of Liwi Malabanan Elizareswith some Paranaque and Bacoor batchmates came. So happy to see themall.Kudos to our hostAna Mangalino Ling who is always gracious to accommodatethe batch and to Cherry Pecson Pineda & Precy Asuncion Billedo who joinedin this 2-day reunion. Thanks also to all our sponsors.Before leaving the venue, we had a short meeting to discuss the GrandHomecoming. We are looking forward and excited for this momentous eventbut will have to wait till 2026!Nevertheless, we have begun the journeys and are continuously traversing.Our celebrations marked and showed our camaraderie. As Chairman LiwiMalabanan Elizares wrote “the celebration is a testament of those innerqualities that were inculcated by our beloved Alma Mater. Among theseis practicality and foresight, two values that brought together the manycommittees who labored to make the joyful gatherings a reality.” “As we delightfully embrace our fellow alumni, let us bring to mind ourONENESS with them. This UNITY in spirit has always been a part of CLASS‘74.”A tribute to Cynthia Montenegro (RIP), our Corp Commander.Her tireless effort to unite the group and her presence in everymeeting despite her condition.
