รงั ไขท ี่เปลย่ี นแปลงไปหลังเกิดการปฏสิ นธิ (fertilization) มีสวนประกอบท่ีสําคัญ 2 สวน
ไดแ ก ผนังผล (pericarp) และเมลด็ (seed)

ผนังผล คอื สวนท่ีเจรญิ มาจากผนังรงั ไข (ovary wall) แบงออกเปน 3 ชั้น

ผนงั ผลชน้ั นอก (exocarp) มักจะบางและเหนียว ทาํ หนา ทเี่ ปน เปลอื กของผล เชน เปลือกพทุ รา มะมวง

ผนังผลชน้ั กลาง (mesocarp) มกั จะมีลักษณะเปน เนอื้ นมุ exocarp Forest Herbarium
เชน เนอื้ ของพุทรา มะปราง มะมวง หรือมลี ักษณะ mesocarp
เปนเสนใย เชน มะพราว endocarp

ผนังผลชั้นใน (endocarp) เปนชนั้ ในสดุ ท่ตี ิดกบั เมลด็
อาจมลี ักษณะเปน เนื้อนมุ เชน มะเขือเทศ
มีลกั ษณะบาง เหนียว เชน เงาะ มลี ักษณะ
หนาและแขง็ เชน กะลามะพราว หรือหนา
เหนียว และแขง็ เชน มะมวง

1. ผลเดี่ยว (simple fruit) : ผลท่เี จริญมาจากรังไขของดอก 1 ดอก ท่ีมีเกสรเพศเมยี

เพียง 1 อัน ซึง่ อาจเปนเกสรเพศเมยี เด่ยี วหรอื เกสรเพศเมียประกอบก็ได จาํ นวนเมลด็
มีไดต งั้ แต 1 ถึงหลายเมลด็

2. ผลกลุม (aggregate fruit) : ผลท่ีเจริญมาจากรงั ไขห ลายอนั ของดอก 1 ดอก หรือ

ดอกเดี่ยวท่มี เี กสรเพศเมียแบบคารเพลแยก รังไขแตล ะอันเจริญไปเปนผลยอยหนึ่งผล
ตดิ บนฐานดอกเดยี วกนั ซงึ่ อาจเช่อื มหรอื ไมเ ช่ือมตดิ เปน เน้อื เดยี วกันก็ได
