IF Clause 1. ZERO Conditional Sentences

Conditional sentences หรอื ท่ีหลายคนรูจ้ กั ใน วธิ ีใช:้ ใช้กบั เหตุการณ์ทเี่ ป็ นความจริง
นาม if-clause คือ ประโยคเง่ือนไข ประกอบดว้ ยประโยคยอ่ ย Zero conditional sentences ใชส้ าหรบั พดู ถงึ ความจรงิ
สองประโยค ประโยคหน่ึงขนึ้ ตน้ ดว้ ยคาว่า If กบั อีกประโยคหน่งึ มี ท่วั ไป โดยใช้ present simple ในประโยคทง้ั สองประโยค (ประโยค
หนา้ ตาเหมอื นประโยคสมบรู ณท์ ่วั ไป สงั เกตวา่ ประโยคสอง หนง่ึ จะอยใู่ นรูปของ if-clause ส่วนอีกประโยคจะอย่ใู นรูปของ main-
ประโยคนีส้ ลบั ท่ีกนั ได้ จะยกประโยคไหนขนึ้ ตน้ ก็ได้ แลว้ แต่การ clause )

If clause คือ ประโยคเง่ือนไข ซง่ึ จะมี 2 ประโยคยอ่ ย ไดแ้ ก่ เขียนวา่ If + subject + V1, subject + V1)
•ประโยคหลกั หรอื Main Clause
•ประโยคท่ีขนึ้ ตน้ ดว้ ย If หรอื If Cluase For example

If Cluase แบง่ ได้เป็ น 5 ประเภท ได้แก่ •If people eat too much, they get fat. ถา้ กินมากจะอว้ น
•If you touch a fire, you get burned. ถา้ แตะไฟก็จะโดนลวก
-ZERO Conditional Sentences •People die if they don’t eat. คนเราจะตายถา้ ไม่กินอาหาร
•You get water if you mix hydrogen and oxygen.
-FIRST Conditional Sentences •ถา้ รวมไฮโดรเจนกบั อ๊อกซเิ จนจะไดน้ า้
•Snakes bite if they are scared. งจู ะกดั เวลารูส้ กึ กลวั
-SECOND Conditional Sentences •If babies are hungry, they cry. ทารกจะรอ้ งไหถ้ า้ รูส้ กึ หวิ

วธิ ีใช้ ใชก้ บั เหตกุ ารณท์ ่ีเป็นเหตเุ ป็นผลซง่ึ กนั และกนั วธิ ีใช้ ใชก้ บั เหตกุ ารณท์ ่ีตรงขา้ มความจรงิ ในปัจจบุ นั หรือ อนาคต
First conditional sentences ใชส้ าหรบั พดู วา่ ถา้ ส่งิ หนง่ึ เกิดขนึ้ อีกส่งิ หน่ึงจะเกิดขนึ้ หรอื First conditional ใชพ้ ดู ถึงส่ิงท่ีผพู้ ดู คาดคะเนวา่ จะเกิดขนึ้
อาจจะเกิดขนึ้ โดยใช้ If + present simple แลว้ ตามดว้ ย future simple แต่ Second conditional จะใชพ้ ดู ถึงส่ิงท่ีผพู้ ดู คิดวา่ ไม่
•if + present simple, … will + infinitive นา่ จะเกิดขนึ้ เชน่
(คนไทยมกั จะเขียนวา่ If + subject + V1, subject + will/be going to + V1) First conditional: If she studies harder,
ใชพ้ ดู ถงึ เหตกุ ารณเ์ ฉพาะซง่ึ อาจเป็นไปได้ หรือผพู้ ดู คดิ วา่ จะเกิดขนึ้ she’ll pass the exam. ถา้ เธอตงั้ ใจเรียนมากขนึ้ เธอจะ
สอบผา่ น (คดิ วา่ เป็นไปได)้
For example Second conditional: If she studied
harder, she would pass the exam. ถา้ เธอตงั้ ใจ
-If I study today, I‘ll go to the party tonight. เรยี นมากขนึ้ เธอคงสอบผา่ น (แตผ่ พู้ ดู ไมค่ ดิ วา่ จะเป็นไปได้ คอื คดิ วา่ เธอ
-If it rains, I won’t go to the park. คงไมต่ งั้ ใจมากขนึ้ และเธอคงสอบไมผ่ า่ น)

-You would get wet if it rained. ประโยคแบบ second conditional นีใ้ ช้ If + past
simple ค่กู บั would + infinitive
-If you went to bed earlier you wouldn't
be so tired. •if + past simple, …would + infinitive
(สงั เกต วา่ อนปุ ระโยคท่ีต่อหลงั if ถา้ คากิรยิ าเป็น verb to be
-If she fell, she would จะใช้ were ไดก้ บั ประธานทกุ ตวั เชน่ If I were you…
hurt herself ถา้ ฉนั เป็นเธอ… แต่จะใช้ was ตรงตามประธานก็ได้

– ใชพ้ ดู ถึงความใฝ่ฝันว่าอยากใหเ้ กิดขนึ้ ในอนาคตแต่อาจไม่ 4. THIRD Conditional Sentences
เกิดขนึ้ ก็ได้ เช่น
•If I won the lottery, I would buy a big วธิ ีใช้ ใชก้ บั เหตกุ ารณท์ ่ีตรงขา้ มความจรงิ ในอดีต
