The LDS 9.0 encompassed a diverse set of sessions focused on
leadership throughout the span of the event. There were a total of 6
sessions conducted by the Executive Board Members of the Local
Committee, with a delegation of more than participants.

The day kicked off with a session named ““TThhee CCaalllliinngg”” which was

conducted by the Local committee President, Sandeshi Banadaranayake.
The session had a focus on explaining the AISEC way and highlighted how
leadership has to be driven by the core values. The session was delivered
tying together these points in relation to Colombo Central.

The second session for the day was conducted by the local committee vice
president of peoples management and the local committee vice president of
oGT. The session which took the name “M“MIINDD''SS EYE” paid a special focus
to the AIESE culture. Begininng with an explanation to what our culture is
and leading on to why culture is so important to our life, the session
demonstrated how we can incorporate Colocmbo Central values into our life.

Leadership Development Seminar is the most outstanding event in the
AIESEC in University of Colombo calendar. Once again, in the year 2021, it
was able to add a wealth of knowledge, a lot of experiences and a lot of
wistful memories for the membership by holding LDS 9.0 successfully and
excellently. The main driving force behind the success of this event is its
Organizing Committee. Therefore, this time, ZONE CC's experience sharing
space opens to Dilen, a member of the organizing committee of LDS 9.0 to

What is LDS?
From my perspective, it is the biggest opportunity for all the AIESECers in University of
Colombo to improve their leadership skills. Also, LDS is one of the most outstanding
events held in AIESEC in University of Colombo. If the membership does engage actively, I
believe LDS is a foreseeable place of enjoyment and leadership development for the
membership. On the other hand, LDS is an opportunity for a member of the organizing
committee to work closely with the members of the executive board, as opposed to other
organizing committees. Because of that, members of the organizing committee will be
able to gain an understanding of how the executive board members prepare for different
situations and how they resolve issues.

Tell me about the challenges or conflicts that you have faced?

The biggest challenge for me was having the first semester examinations and the event
preparation work at the same time. Some days I had to focus more on my exams. In
addition, not personally, but as the organizing committee, we had to face some challenges
in partnership development due to the current situation in the whole world. Since financial
sustainability depends on financial capacity, at the beginning we were somewhat doubtful
as to whether this event would be financially sustainable. But I am happy to say that there
were no conflicts in the organizing committee.

How did you overcome those difficulties?

My examination was not a huge problem as everyone helped me with that. The main
reason for being able to easily overcome the difficulties for us was that we were always
updated and we always worked according to a plan. When it comes to financing we didn't
forget to take meetings once a week and we discussed every point with our local
committee vice president, our organizing committee president, and finance manager for
special projects in AIESEC in University of Colombo. We planned and prepared financial
strategies for each situation. When it comes to partnership development also, the
organizing committee presidents for partnership development worked hard without
getting discouraged and sacrificing their best and they were also able to reach a
favourable situation. Moreover, the dedication of every member of the organizing
committee, event managers and executive board members was the secret behind
overcoming the difficulties and the success of LDS 9.0.

What was your greatest achievement by being on the Organizing
Committee?

I feel and I believe that I got some exposure to the whole membership in AIESEC in
University of Colombo. In the beginning, it was one of my expectations when I decided to
apply for LDS 9.0, and I hope it will help me a lot in my future AIESEC journey. And more
importantly, I had the opportunity to overcome some of my weaknesses, such as the
anxiety of speaking in front of a large audience, and the lack of technical knowledge. In
addition, I was able to develop my leadership skills.

Sri Lanka Starting just three years after the launch of the BBC, Colombo Radio was the
Broadcasting first radio station in Asia and the second oldest radio station in the world. The
Cooperation organization acquired its current name, Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation
(SLBC) - Sinhala (SLBC), with the transition state statute of "Republic of Sri Lanka". Currently,
National Service - SLBC's island-wide FM network broadcasts six regular program channels
Swadeshiya nationally and these six national channels account for the majority of its national
programs.
