HISTORY OF PHOTOGRAPHYEXISTENCE SINCE 1839 DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY NUR MAISARAH BINTI ZAILUDDIN DRG1B

1839 Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre invented the daguerreotype process in France. The invention was announced to the public on August 19, 1839 at a meeting of the French Academy of Sciences in Paris. 1840 A daguerreotype from 1843 which is thought to be the first photograph showing a photographer at work. The image depicts Jabez Hogg photographing W.S. Johnson in the studio of Richard Beard. 1880 The next photographic processes to look at overtook albumen in the mid-1880s, the collodion printing out and gelatin printing out print processes. It can sometimes be extremely difficult to distinguish between the two. Like the albumen print, they were contact printed under sunlight. 1850 1870 1860 The CDV was patented in Paris in 1854, and achieved popularity in the United States in 1860. It used the albumen found in egg whites to bind photographic chemicals to thin paper, which was then mounted on a thicker paper card. First, in the 1850s, the wet collodion process (also known as the "wet-plate process" or the "collodion process") superceded both the daguerreotype and the calotype. Wet collodion produced a negative that was endlessly reproducible, like the calotype, and produced an image with the clarity of the daguerreotype. Early cameras took photographs directly onto metal or glass plates. Every image was unique rather than being printed from a negative. Daguerreotypes were produced on a silvered copper plate.

1890 The first widely used method of color photography was the Autochrome plate, a process inventors and brothers Auguste and Louis Lumière began working on in the 1890s and commercially introduced in 1907. 1900 In 1900, Kodak introduced the popular Brownie, a classic box camera. Another aspect of the increased interest in and use of photographs was that mass produced pictures were now easy to publish in books, volumes of prints and magazines. 1940 During the 1940s, camera development stalled due to the financial impacts of World War II. However, stylistic changes were made to many models. A black-bodied camera was preferred for its sleek look, and 35mm cameras were becoming the most popular model. 1910 1930 1920 Echoing the perceived freedom of the times, photographers began taking far more creative and artistic approaches to their craft. Extreme close-up shots sat alongside montages, curios angles became the norm and the camera as a tool for artistic expression was cemented In the 1910s, photography was a relatively slow and labor-intensive process. Photographic film was sensitive to light and required a long exposure time to capture an image. The federal photos of the 1930s were often simple, stark, and powerful. Taken in black and white and by photographers with superb abilities to frame and compose images, the photographs spoke louder than words

1950 In the beginning these cameras were extremely large and heavy but were used to capture candid shots. Because of their size they needed to be used with a strap and the photographer had to wear a large, heavy coat to hold the equipment.22 Jul 2011 1960 In practice, artists began exploring conceptual photography as a means to stage an idea – rather than to shoot a subject and capture a moment. They first started exploring the motives of photography and its actual implementation in advertising. 2000 The Y2K aesthetic is a blend of pop culture and technological optimism that was prevalent in the early 2000s. It is mostly futuristic with a little vintage touch. The style incorporates metallics, glittering, pastel colors, dreamy post-processing, translucent, and blobby designs. 1970 1990 1980 Considered the apogee of Postmodernism, the 1980s is presented in this exhibit through photography and films that illustrate the contrasts and paradoxes of the decade. 1970s colour photography is the key period in the work of Stephen Shore. These classical, formal colour photographs capture “ mundane aspects of American popular culture in straightforward, unglamorous images.” They are what made him famous. In the '90s, documenting real life became increasingly en vogue, for better or for worse and photographers pointed their lenses to their realities and the fraught issues of the time

2010 As a quick refresher, a double exposure is a combination of two exposures in one image to produce evocative results. This trend made for an exceptionally spacey photography moment, and it still proves its relevance today. 2020 In short, 21st Century Photography is not the representation of the world, but the exploration of the labor practices that shape this world through mass-production, computation, self-replication and pattern recognition

Photography is one of the other ways to communicate with others. We also can use photography for study, for example we can take a picture of animals and flowers. Photography also can help us to capture every moment that we had with people around us. THE FUNCTION OF PHOTOGRAPHY

We can show visual communication from make our visuals colourful and simplify complicated information with visual visual communication in photography

Techology development means is scientific and technological knowledge to solve practical problems, espesially in industry. The examples of technological development are telephones, telephones have evolved into mobile phones and then into smartphones with fully functioning GPS data and seamless roaming. Technological progress allows for the more efficient production of more and better goods and services TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT
