“Open plan” was the brief for the kitchen and the home in general. Designed
to suit a number of interior styles and appeal to a wide demographic of potential
renters, the kitchen is a home cook’s heaven. As the central hub for entertaining and
domestic life, the breakfast bar is a hotspot of activity where kids can do homework
in the afternoons while the adults make dinner and prep for wine and cheese nights.

The neutral colour palette oozes easy vibes and lends itself to be personalised
with pops of colour to suit the occupants’ tastes, while hard-wearing and easy-clean
surfaces promise a lifetime of durability.

Principal designer Rosanna Pappalardo has been a KBDi member for 10 years. In
2019, she became a Queensland KBDi committee member to continue supporting
the membership body and the greater decoration and design industry. “Living and
dreaming design is a big part of my everyday,” muses Rosanna. “Accessibility, clean
lines, functionality and personality are what I aim to achieve in every design, and I
work with each client to achieve this within varying budgets and styles.”

This showstopping kitchen is the perfect fusion of modern and
vintage aesthetics with impressive functionality. The renovation
was part of a complex project that was completed as a joint venture
between All Bathroom Gear and PTF Constructions, led by husband-
and-wife team Paul and Tobi Farthing. The kitchen was designed
and built as part of a broader home renovation involving the same
talented, experienced team.

Elements of Hamptons-style design were sprinkled through the
space to pay homage to the home’s heritage. The timber floors and
textured white tiles on the splashbacks set the stage for the custom-
made cabinetry, which was designed for maximum storage. The
easy-clean satin-finish Shaker-style doors featured throughout were
integrated into this area to create a sense of cohesion.

The Quartz Venatino Statuario benchtops are this kitchen’s hero
features. The stunning oven with soft curves completes the look
and is complemented by an integrated rangehood. The over-bench
lighting makes a statement, yet doesn’t steal the show, and provides
the ideal amount of direct light to the benchtop without drowning
the rest of the space in harsh light. The end result is a gorgeous
kitchen that is the crown jewel of this beautiful home.
