attracted hundreds of women from across
the province of Mpumalanga, the Mrs.
Mpumalanga pageant aims to support
the ideals and attribute of today’s married
woman – a woman who has inner beauty,
outer beauty and a beauty she takes out
into her everyday life as a wife that is smart,
sensual and sassy!
Every aspect of the pageant supports the
ideals and attribute of today’s woman – a
woman who has her own goals and views
of her role within society. The idea that a
“Beauty Queen” is just for show and only

relevant in the search for our ambassador.
We always refer to the “full package”
which includes among other attributes, the
inner strength and maturity to take on the
role and ability to be able to interact with
people on all levels and social standing.
A key focus of the pageant is to empower
women from the moment they are chosen
as finalist to the possibility of eventually
being crowned the winner.
Our vision as Mrs. Mpumalanga
management team is to provide each
and every finalist with an opportunity to
discover their best selves and live to their
full potential, so that they can also inspire
other woman in Mpumalanga. To start this
ripple effect we need to support of the

Financial Risk Planing
by T i m e l e ss f i n a n c i al co n su lta n ts
South Africa has experienced two consecutive quarters of
negative economic growth.
When the country is experiencing unprecedented levels of
uncertainty, social and political unrest, as well as economic
hardship, you need to make sure that you are financially
stable and protected to “weather the storm”.
The average South African income earner has cover for
less than 40% of their financial needs in the event of their
death, with their group risk cover only covering about 15%
of this need on average. Self-employed people often have no

Too often too many risk policies lapse due to unforeseen

Reinstatement of a lapsed policy is not easy as proof of
health is required and age often leads to a much higher

Keen about the girl?
who is marcia Keen?
To first meet Marcia Keen, is to meet a whirlwind of energy
moving from one project to the next, barely touching
ground. It makes it difficult to reconcile this fast talking
lady with the calm, collected co-host of Mrs Mpumalanga.
Marcia describes the transition as her stage calm. “You
know like a duck swimming on a pond, on the surface there
is barely a ripple, but if you look below, Oh boy, all you see
are those little feet paddling a mile a minute”.
Marcia is a native of the beautiful Mpumalanga province,
making her permanent home in Emalahleni. She works
in the field of Occupational Medicine as an office
administrator in the family business founded by her mother.
“ I have always had a very strong female role model in
my mother, who taught me very early in life not only the
importance of hard work but more importantly family.
I think I am also very lucky as my father has also always
been a very strong supporter of all my mother’s endeavours
and projects. And this mutually supportive culture in their
relationship has always featured very prominently in their
support of me.”

intimidated by Jacques, he has accomplished a great deal
professionally and has done so much for the upliftment of

In 2014 Marcia co-hosted the Mrs Mpumalanga-final for

Macadamia's
In South Africa, macadamia nuts are mainly grown in three provinces: Limpopo (Tzaneen and Levubu), Mpumalanga
(Barberton, Nelspruit and Hazyview), and on the north and south coast of KwaZulu Natal. In the neighboring countries
macadamias are produced in Swaziland, Malawi and Zimbabwe.
he price of the world's most expensive nut may be attributed to the fact that not only must a Macadamia tree be 7-10 years
old in order to produce nuts, but also the incredibly hard shell of the nut must be broken prior to sale. The shell is so hard
that it can actually break nutcrackers sold for home use.
Planting Macadamia Seeds.
Growing macadamia nuts from seed is not difficult but you will find the resulting trees to be variable. They may not
produce fruit or they may produce a slightly inferior nut to the parent tree. However, you might get lucky and get a
fruiting tree in 5 to 10 years
A macadamia tree is an investment, as are many fruit and nut trees, taking 5 years after planting a grafted specimen before
the tree produces a significant crop. It is considered “mature” only after 10 to 15 years.
Earning you almost R375,000 per hectare, this must be SA's most profitable crop.
