Marinda PieterseProvincial Mpumalanga MS Charity 2021

I’m going through my photo’s, and the fondest memories come to mind. It is true a photo paints a thousand words, and you
remembered how that specific moment in time made you feel. When you touched a beautiful soul’s heart, but most of the times
your own heart was the one being touched. And spontaneously all the emotion will gather in a tear and run down your cheek.

A year ago I was crowned Provincial Mpumalanga MS Charity 2021 and I had the privilege to serve my beautiful Province
Mpumalanga and its humble and warm hearted people and communities that I love so much. This was a difficult year with the
pandemic, and my heart goes out to each and every person losing a friend or a family member, going through challenges and
financial hardships. Still I was blessed abundantly and I am grateful for having everything I need and being loved and I’m alive.
So much to be thankful for and all the glory to God!

My story begun a few years back when I was still in the beauty industry and a substantial amount of my clients were victims of
abuse and they entrusted me with their secrets. Many women never got to leave their abusers as they simply could not afford it
and they had loved ones to support. They needed a voice, and it will be worth it even if I only changed one life in this process.
I entered Provincial Mpumalanga MS because the Mrs Mpumalanga Brand stood for exactly what I believed in: to educate, em-
power and uplift women. This is also how my Inspired by Women Foundation, which is in its baby shoes, were born. A Foun-
dation all about women supporting women and being an inspiration to the next generation. Providing mentoring programs,
empowering women and girls. Our goal is to equip women with the necessary skills to enable them to be self-sufficient and
reassert a sense of hope in the future. We hope to personify the term Ubuntu as we will all grow when one woman is growing.
We like to fix each others crowns in private, without questioning your own worth.

I will cherish my journey from finalist to reigning queen. I met the most extraordinary, strong women, warriors, I made new
friends, I was challenged to get out of my comfort zone and fight for what I wanted in life, to grow as a person and make my
dreams come true, I was given opportunities that would never have crossed my path if I hadn’t entered.

I want to thank you my God, for equipping me for the journey You had planned for me and giving me the tools to achieve those
goals.

To my love, Johan, my children, my parents, family and friends, thank you for your love and support. Without you it wouldn’t
be possible. You gave me wings, you believed in me.

To the entire Mrs Mpumalanga team thank you for giving me the opportunity to be part of this amazing Brand and being an
ambassador for our Province and for the Brand, it is a privilege. Jacques and Zane, you give a world class production that takes
dedication and a love for what you do. This is a family and a sisterhood that will always be part of my life.

To my sponsors, thank you is such a small word, but words is not enough to express my gratitude. Wood’s Creations (Paula),
Eagle Inn Sportsbar (Regina), Xpress Newspapers and Printers (Sifiso), Mazola Productions (Mduduzi), Redz Productions
(Annelien), Property.Co.Za (Hannelie en Sonnet), Chef CJ (CJ), Legacy Wealth (Juandre), Palazzo Jewelers (Tahla), Susca Watts
Academy (Susca) and Hough Friesian Stud (Johan).

To all the finalists embarking on this journey, remember you don’t need a crown to make a difference, you need a heart filled
with love. Invest in people, It is how you make them feel that makes them remember you.

Love xxx

Each post has an informative caption that goes with each look, to help
educate others on mental health. Going forward my primary goal is to
continue to destigmatise mental health through advocacy and education
and to create more openness and unashamed conversation.

I'm Jeanri Boshoff and I'm one of the Provincial Mpumalanga MS Finalist 2022. I'm @jeanri_boshoff
also a survivor of bulimia nervosa and major depression. And as a survivor of these
secret battles, it's very important for me to use this platform to share my story for
more mental health awareness and to spread the message that you are not alone, and
that there is hope.

In my first year at varsity I started struggling with an eating disorder and severe
depression. Ofcourse at first I didn't realize how serious it was and I remember I kept
on thinking "It's not that bad, I'm not that sick". But, it took over my whole life.
Almost even took my life. After four years I finally had the courage to tell my parents
through a letter and got help. Still today my depression stays a constant battle, but I've
learnt to prioritize selfcare and found a creative outlet - Makeup.

About two years ago I started experimenting with make up, mostly on myself at first
and now as a side hustle. Makeup has become my form of art and I always say
"Makeup is my therapy", in a way it saved me. Instead of obsessing over my weight,
dieting or excessively exercising... makeup gives me something new to focus on.
When I do makeup, all the overwhelming negative thoughts goes away and in that
moment, it's all about the creative process, executing the look and creating something
beautiful. Recently, I've been focusing on combining my two passions - mental health
& makeup and have started a 'Mental Health Makeup' series. With this initiative my
goal is to raise mental health awareness through different themed makeup looks that I
do on myself and share on my social media.

JadoraHair Couture

Starting a business comes with various challenges, some expected and others
not so much. The global pandemic was one of them, Covid-19 has shaken the
world and businesses have taken a hit from it, and starting a business during
a pandemic? Well, that was not an easy decision. We chat to the founders of
our favorite wig salon, Jadora situated in the heart of Witbank. Nonhlanhla
Mlotshwa and Nonzaliseko Siga, about their glamorous business.
· How did the idea for your business come about?
Coming from a very small town in Mpumalanga, Witbank, we saw a gap in
the market. We always had to travel to Johannesburg to get good-quality hair
and treatments, we wanted to bring the quality to our doorstep and service
ladies who faced the same challenge of having to travel far to get their hair
done. And through our research, we found that there were no salons that
focused mainly on treating and maintaining human hair (Brazilian, Peruvian
and Indian hair) in Witbank. One of the unique offerings we introduced to
the market was "silk pressing" which makes our treatment very unique.
· What was your key driving force to becoming entrepreneurs?
More than anything we wanted to make life easy for ourselves, but important-
ly other women as well. We wanted to create a space that women would enjoy
and get great service without traveling too far. Another reason, was to inspire
other women and upcoming entrepreneurs around our town, that nothing is
impossible. As women we have power and we need to use it, solving societal
problems is something in our genes and we have to use it wisely.

· How did you come up with the name for your company?
We love all things French and Jadora is a french name that means "I Adore" and that's exactly how we feel about our hustle.
And the love we have for the beauty industry. We adore it, it’s our baby!
· How did you raise funding for your venture?
Our savings saved us, we both used our savings from our full-time jobs. This was not an easy decision, but it was something
we both wanted and believed in. So we decided to take a leap of faith and make this investment. We were lucky enough to
find an affordable place and we wanted to make it nice and intimate.
· How do you define success?
Success to us is the ability to achieve your goals, setting them out and ticking them off. Building the life you are proud to live,
and that has nothing to with having money but for peace.

· What is your favourite aspect of being entrepreneurs?
Being able to create opportunities for others, we believe in life our goals are
interlinked, our life purposes can help another person achieve their dream.
Also, being able to contribute to the economy and create job opportuni-
ties in our community and be part of the supply chain. Most importantly,
working on something we absolutely love! Did we mention being our own
bosses? Hahahaha.
· What has been your most satisfying moment in business?
That smile we get from our clients as soon we do the reveal, and seeing
them come back, means we doing something right. Also, the growth and
learning new skills.
· What makes your Jadora unique?
We offer the best quality hair and great service. We prioritize our clients,
and we offer free pick up and drop off for wig treatment around Witbank.
So you don’t have to move from our couch.
· Biggest challenge in opening a business during a pandemic?
Our business being a salon, we want people to physically come to us but
sometimes they are scared to leave their houses and they are extra cautious.
So it has been hard to get walk-ins and with lockdown regulations, people
were not going out, so with no special occasions, people are not as motivat-
ed to do their hair.
· What are some of the lessons you have learned from running Jadora that
you apply in your personal lives?
We have learned that opportunities show up when you show up, so it’s all
about being proactive and following up, and also building healthy relation-
ships with your clients. So invest in professional relationships like you do
with personal ones.
