INTRODUCTION

wHAT IS EARTH?

The Earth is our home, the only place in the universe where we know for
certain that life exists. Earth formed a bit over 4.5 billion years ago from a
swirling cloud of gas and dust that gave rise to our entire solar system,
including our star, the sun. According to scientists' best theories, this gas and
dust with different parts of the disk coalescing into each of the planets in our
solar system.

The earth circumference is 24,901 miles (40,075 kilometers), making it
the largest rocky planet in the solar system. Our planet orbits (150,000 km)
away from the sun, giving it the right temperature for persistent liquid water on
the surface, the only known body to do so.

What is the importance of planet Earth?
Our home planet provides us with life and protects us from space. Earth, our
home planet, is a world unlike any other. The third planet from the
sun, Earth is the only place in the known universe confirmed to host life

wHAT IS SUN?

The Sun is a yellow dwarf star, a hot ball of glowing gases at the heart of
our solar system. Its gravity holds the solar system together, keeping
everything – from the biggest planets to the smallest particles of debris – in its
orbit.

The Sun warms our seas, stirs our atmosphere, generates our weather
patterns, and gives energy to the growing green plants that provide the food
and oxygen for life on Earth. ... We know the Sun through its heat and light, but
other, less obvious aspects of the Sun affect Earth and society.

1

Without the Sun's rays, all photosynthesis on Earth would stop. ... While
some inventive humans might be able to survive on a Sun-less Earth for
several days, months, or even years, life without the Sun would eventually
prove to be impossible to maintain on Earth.

THE CIRCUlATION Of THE EARTH
AROUND THE SUN

Earth orbits the Sun at an average distance of 149.60 million km (92.96
million mi), and one complete orbit takes 365.256 days (1 sidereal year), during
which time Earth has traveled 940 million km (584 million mi).

First of all, the speed of the Earth's orbit around the Sun is 108,000
km/h, which means that our planet travels 940 million km during a single orbit.
The Earth completes one orbit every 365.242199 mean solar days, a fact which
goes a long way towards explaining why need an extra calendar day every four
years (aka. during a leap year).

wHAT I lEARNED fROm DOINg
THIS pROjECT?

In doing this project, I learned the importance of the Sun in our lives. I
also learned how the earth moves around the Sun. Other than that, I also
learned the importance of planning a project before implementing it and also
time is gold. This project showed all the elements in each subjects involved. I
also used recycled materials in this project which can cut the cost in making
this model.

wHy I CHOSE TO DO THIS
pROjECT?

I chose to do this project because it is interesting and I am curious to know more
about the topic. I learned about the topic ‘ Peredaran Bumi’ or the circulation of the earth
in my Science subject and I learned that it is amazing on how the solar system works
specifically the Earth and the importance of the Sun. From the introduction, the Sun
plays an important roles in human, animals and plants. Overall, it gives life to the living
things on earth.

On the other hand, I also learned on the designing skill (kemahiran Rekabentuk)
in doing this project. Thanks to my teachers and parents also my siblings in helping me
building this model. In this project, there are 6 subjects involved and they are Sains,
Rekabentuk Teknologi, Pendidikan Seni Visual, Bahasa Melayu, Bahasa Inggeris and
Matematik.

In terms of Science, obviously the topic itself is about science, as for Rekabentuk
Teknologi, it is applied to building the Earth and Sun model using all the materials and
tools. As for PSV, this model involved making a diorama and as for the the two languages
BM and BI, they are used in my presentation and scrap book respectively. As for Math
subject, it is applied in the measurement part.

wHERE DID I mAkE THE
pROjECT?

I made this project at two places. One was at school. During this time, my
teachers will guide me on how to do and what to do. While at home, my family
will help me on the process of making the project.

wHEN DID I START THE
pROjECT?

I started physically building the project on the 16th of November 2020. I also
started planning the project on the same date. This project took 15 days to complete
this project with the paperwork and scrapbook. I completed building the project itself
on 29 November 2020.

wHO INvOlvED IN THIS
pROjECT?

While making this project, other than my teachers, the persons involved in
helping me completing this project was my family members. Both my parents had
helped me a lot in guiding me throughout the process. Not forgetting my siblings as
well.

wHERE DID I START?

STEP 1 (introduction/briefing/brainstorming)

 A briefing by the teachers about the project that I am going to do. My
teachers were discussing on how to design the model based on the topic
of ‘Peredaran Bumi’

 I also involved in giving ideas to my teachers on how I would design it
and we also discussed on the material needed in building the model.

STEP 2 (making the box frame)

 I started by making the outer box and cut out the upper part of the box

6

 I sprayed the box with black spray paint and then sprinkle using brush
with some white colour to make the galaxy or stars effect.

STEP 3 (making the globe replica)

 I used the plastic ball which is the Earth and painted it in blue as the
ocean effect and then draw some patterns on it just like on the globe.

 Then, I painted it with green colour as the land.
 To make the Earth replica stand, I glued it on a small PVC pipe onto the

box.

7

STEP 4 (assemble the bulb - the Sun)

 On making the sun, I used the lightbulb which I hanged at the side of the
Earth model and connected it using the wire which I put around the box. I
connected the wire with batteries.

 I made sure that it was functioning well.
