Castillo’s focus is the College’s students. He has reshaped processes and procedures to be student centric and student informed. He understands you cannot be what you cannot see, and therefore ensures he meets students where they are at. Castillo provides numerous student scholarship and internship opportunities and regularly meets with students to offer career advice. He prioritizes student speaking engagements and student outreach. Prior to joining the College, Castillo served as a Partner at Monty & Ramirez, LLP practicing Labor and Employment Law, earning Board Certification in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. During this time, he represented the College as outside counsel in various matters. His legal experience includes litigation on cases in state and federal courts, various appellate courts and the Texas Supreme Court. He also served as a briefing attorney for the Honorable Felix Recio of the Southern District of Texas and was an adjunct professor. Mario’s peer-reviewed articles have been published by the Baylor School of Law and the University of Houston Law Center. Castillo received his Juris Doctorate from the Maurer School of Law at Indiana University in Bloomington and received his Bachelor of Arts in Government from The University of Texas at Austin. Castillo is a first-generation high school (on his mother’s side), college, and law school student as well as a firstgeneration American. Workforce Centers of Excellence System Offices These locations have specialized equipment to offer hands-on learning unique to the program. LSC-Kingwood is the second campus of the North Harris Montgomery Community College District, now Lone Star College. The "East Campus," as it was known at the beginning, opened in 1984 with approximately 1,000 students. Today LSC-Kingwood is the educational institution of choice for more than 11,000 students. LSC-Montgomery Opened in 1995, LSC-Montgomery is a 365,000-square-foot comprehensive college on 210 acres of pine forest between The Woodlands and Conroe. LSC-Tomball 23 LSC-Tomball, conveniently located off Highway 249, is the third college in the Lone Star College System. VETERAN SERVICES Prior Military Experience = College Credit LSC will evaluate and transfer your military experience into college credit through a process called prior-learning assessment (PLA). This PLA process awards college credit, certification or advanced standing for a student’s non-academic experiences and training. Special programs are in place to instantly approve credit hours for a select number of degrees in certificates when you choose Lone Star College. Employee Assistance Program (EAP) LSC offers an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). The EAP is a confidential counseling service provided to all part-time and full-time employees and benefits-eligible dependents for personal and work concerns which may be interfering with work performance and/or quality of life. The EAP serves as an excellent resource for addressing difficult employee relations issues such as substance and alcohol abuse and workplace conflicts. Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Program (DAAPP) LSC is committed to providing its students and employees a drug and alcohol-free workplace and learning environment.
