52 Cardmaking, Stamping Accent die-cut butterfl ies with small paper fl owers for a pretty botanical fi nish. What we like METHOD To create the easel base card: Score grape card 150mm x 300mm straight down the middle, then score the left-hand panel from the top left-hand corner to the lower right-hand corner and make both lines valley folds. Cut enchanting paper to 140mm square using scallop-edged scissors then swipe the edges with orchid ink. Run two 140mm lengths of purple lace across this – 15mm in from the top and bottom. Close the card front and secure this panel to the lower right-hand triangle only with double-sided tape. Fussy-cut the ‘Happier by Your Side’ panel out of happiness paper and secure it to the work with mounting tape. Cut a 150mm x 150mm x 210mm triangle out of regency paper, run double-sided tape along the bottom and right-hand edges and secure it to the inside back cover to create a pocket. Decorate the diagonal line with mauve lace and an inked strip of enchanting paper, raising it with mounting tape to make a stopper for the easel. Fussy-cut a pair of orange roses, a pair of grape roses and a single orange rose out of euphoria paper and ink their edges. Affi x the orange pair to the pocket with mounting tape and tuck the others behind the top left-hand corner of the sentiment using double-sided tape. Tie two bows using mauve lace and affi x them over the roses as shown. Die-cut three garden delight butterfl ies out of white card, ink their edges then add mini purple flowers to their centres and secure them using double-sided tape along the bodies as shown. Embellish further with pearls, a gardenia, cherry blossoms and mini purple flowers. Outline the fussy-cut roses with glitter glue to fi nish.

Swipe the edges with orchid ink then use a craft knife to cut around the top of the roses and leaves and carefully ink their edges too – refer to the photograph. Affi x this to the front of folded grape card 150mm x 300mm, ensuring there is no adhesive behind the cut section. Cut the ‘Life is what you make it’ panel out of happiness paper with scallop-edged scissors then trim the two small roses off the bottom and put them aside. Ink the edges, slide the panel under the large grape roses and secure it with mounting tape. Fussy-cut the two small roses, ink the edges and affi x them over the large ones using mounting tape. Run a 150mm length of wide purple lace down the right-hand side of the sentiment panel, then tie a bow in mauve lace and secure it towards the top using glue. Print ‘Make it’ on euphoria paper with your computer, then cut it out with a tag die, ink the edges and secure it with mounting tape as shown. Die-cut a Les Papillions two butterfl y out of ivory card, ink the edges and stick it below the tag, the top left-hand corner, then outline the fussy-cut roses with thin lines of glitter glue. Design idea Use a craft knife to cut around patterned paper elements like these fl owers, then tuck your sentiment panel behind it e body. in

58 Cardmaking, Stamping BACK TO BASICS $PSSFDUQSFTTVSF GPSTUBNQJOH .PVOUJOH BDSZMJDTUBNQT Hold small/medium sized stamps on either side and gently place on card. Place a couple of fi ngers on top and press gently all over the surface. Gently peel the acrylic image from the plastic sheet, this ensures no tears or distorted image. Large stamps need more pressure, place card on foam mat and place stamp on top, press quite fi rmly for at least 30 seconds. Lay the acrylic image gently on an acrylic block in proportion to the stamp and press over it to ensure contact. Stamps with skinny sections like stems can be tricky, apply more pressure where there is more detail and use only one fi nger along the fi ne lines. If you don’t have a suitable sized block for tiny images use a larger stamp to balance and prevent it wobbling. (FUUJOH&WFO #PSEFST Run double-sided tape around the card edges, peel off half of the protective strips and fold them as shown. Gently lay the panel on the next layer and line it up; since only half the adhesive is exposed it will be easier to lift and reposition the piece if needed. Once you are happy with the spacing, start pulling away the folded backing strips, pressing the piece down as you go to keep it in place.

& Papercrafts 59 .PVOUJOHTUBNQT PO&;.PVOU $PMPVSJOH XJUI#MFBDI Lay the unmounted rubber on top of the EZ mount for size and cut a piece out using non-stick scissors. Test scrap pieces of card before you begin. The bleached outcome will vary depending on the dyes used in the card. Coated card (like Core’dinations won’t work for this technique. Use a ruler and pencil to mark dots where you would like the faux stitching. Peel away the protection layer from the sticky side. Stamp and black-emboss your image on your card, or stamp with StazOn ink. Place the card on a foam mat and use a paper piercer to make the holes. Place the fl at part of the rubber on the sticky side gently so no air bubbles are formed. Fill a water brush with bleach and paint the areas where you wish to remove the colour. You can also purchase a ruler with holes in it – so all you need to do is pierce straight through them. Trim away the surplus from around the rubber using sharp non-stick scissors. Be careful not to cut under the rubber. Ensure the piece is dry then colour over the bleached areas with watercolour pencils or markers. $SFBUJOH'BVY 4UJUDIJOH Use a pen in your desired colour and draw lines between the holes. You can leave little gaps between them or fi ll them all as desired.
