Weekly Safety Tip: Hydroplaing
During Hurricane season, we’d like to remind everyone to use
threepoints of contact when getting in and out of your vehicles. The goal
is to prevent slips, trips, and falls. Please also remember to give yourself
plenty of space and increase your following distance.
Please, follow these guidelines from your Safety Team:
• Turn on those
headlights
• Beware of
hydroplaning
• Turn off cruise
control
• Slow down
• Be extra cautious
with merging lanes.
Choferes,

Wide Turns
When making wide turns, trucks must swing wide to make
a 90-degree right turn. Trucks need to start a turn from the
second lane to the left, instead of the right turn lane. Wide
turns place trucks in the additional lane of traffic, which may be
opposing traffic. These factors increase the risk of right turn
accidents.
Be safe, take your time and be aware of your surroundings!!
Cutting turns short can result in cut tires and damaged rims on
equipment. Please use caution to avoid damaging equipment.

FMCSEAquInipsmpeecntitons on
Please remember to verify the FMCSA inspection on equipment
you dray is current and DOT legal. There are two indicators on a chas-
sis to inspect for during your pre trip inspection.
The FMCSA sticker is your 1st indicator to inspect during your
pre-trip inspection. The FMCSA is valid for 1 year. This FMCSA sticker
shows the inspection was completed in August of 2021. This lets us know
the FMCSA inspection is valid until August of 2022.
The FMCSA paperwork is your 2nd indicator to inspect during
your pre-trip and the most important. The paper work validates if the
chassis is in compliance or not. The FMCSA sticker can be incorrect or
missing and the chassis can still be in compliance pending FMCSA pa-
perwork. You will want to confirm the date of inspection on the FMCSA
paperwork located at the bottom left of the paperwork. The FMCSA
inspection is valid for 1 year of the date of inspection.
Please make this a top priority when conducting your pre trip inspec-
tions. Do not pull equipment that has an expired FMCSA inspection.
An expired FMCSA inspection is a DOT violation and will result in a
citation. If you are at the port or rail the FMCSA inspection can be com-
pleted at the road ability repair area. In some cases the port will swing
your container if the chassis inspection cannot be repaired at road abili-
ty. Do not proceed and report to dispatch if you find any chassis with an
expired FMCSA.
When in doubt, take the safe route!
Call Nelson at 832-409-8622 and he will help
confirm if you are in compliance.
