Preface
This story reects the sequences of love incidents in a person’s life
It’s a heartening tale of love, pain, lies and emotions.
This is my rst venture as an author. First of all I want to thank my love,
my family and friends without whose encouragement it wasn’t possible for me
to portray it beautifully. I also want to thank my critics without whose criticism,
it wouldn’t be possible to write that.
At last I want to thank Almighty for this wonderful experience.
Thanks
Civil Engineering
Every man has a story to tell but not everyone gets an
opportunity to tell it early in their life. I vinit J Shetty , a 50% civil
engineer year student at AIET,Mangalore express through this
medium my life between coming as an innocent kid from a small town
in Mumbai to leaving the college as a humble, curious and condent
person knowing my own road to success.AIET EntranceI came to
Mangalore as a 17 year old kid from Bhiwandi City, a small town in
Mumbai. After searching for the list of best engineering colleges in
Mumbai fr numerous times, my father and I decided upon aiet. I
entered the big acre campus with my father constantly asking me if I
would be able to live alone and me, constantly giving him a concerned
look.i was took engineering against my will. There were students all
around , some coming out from classes conversing with teachers, some
mingling with their friends , some sitting alone fallen deep into their
thoughts.
As I saw them I wondered, which of the three categories
would I fall into. When I entered the hostel and saw my room, I was
horried, a room where 3 beds would t with great difculty. A hospital
bed lookalike was allotted to me as well and there were two other
room mates , one from Karnataka and the other from Mumbai my
roomate .The rst question that came to my mind was how would I
mingle with two people from completely different cultures speaking
different languages, but then as destiny is, that was the beginning of a
never-ending friendship.I had earlier heard a lot of negativity about
mess food and was very worried about it as well, when I tasted hostel
Dosa for the rst time, I felt that mess food is not that bad. It is just that
when you get habituated to one kind of food , you get bored of it. My
father gave me a very important advice after tasting the food, he told
the food that does not taste nice is healthy food. It was a great day, got
an opportunity to meet lot of new mates, many from North India and
many from South. The next day was our rst class, all excited I went to
class, it didn’t take me long to understand that there was a diversity of
students, in terms of culture, in terms of nancial background, and
denitely in terms of interest towards engineering. We met few seniors,
gave introductions, got to understand how to make fun of each other

Introduction
I would start with saying a very common thing in quotes .
“Love is blind, and a deaf-mute too”.
Love isn't like any other relationship as we know. If you get to ask me, I
would just say its more of a feeling of attachment of two understanding
hearts than a kind of relationship. Many believe that love is the most
gifted asset of anyone's life. And many(including me) believe that love
does not have anything to do with the distance between two persons as
long as the two hearts know how close they are,When you really love
someone, age, distance, height, weight is just a damn number.
Maybe GOD writes a love story in everyone's chapter of LIFE. Its early
for some and later for some other. But its denitely written. So now, a
true heart says - "The Gift of Love". Why not travel in love for
sometime with his story!

Exams were always a special part, completing a syllabus taught
for 4 months in a single night was something we were proud of
doing.Earlier everyone used to be worried about the marks and GPA,
but later we understood that GPA was just an eligibility barrier for
placements and nothing more.I used to be a very sharp student but
believe me I failed 21 times in 2 sems and 6 internal exams in
mathematics. But I still had a hope because has a dream to become a
civil engineer and full my dad's dream
The most important part of college was the friends you make,
you won’t get to know when friends turn into family, you will meet
different kinds of people, people who will use you for their benet,
people who would show lot of arrogance in their behaviour, people who
would always be humble and respectful to you, in the end what will
matter will be the friends you choose, your decisions in life will highly be
affected by them, it is these friends who will make college a home away
from home. There are few things that I would like to tell people who
would be joining college soon, choose the college wisely and the course
even more wisely, use websites like Entranceplus to get a knowledge of
college rankings and what are the courses they offer, do not take up any
course just because your parents want you to, choose what interests
you.Once you join college, try and explore every possible activity, as
there are lot of things unexplored for you, which you consider that you
are not good at but that judgement comes to you as you have never
tried it before, never be afraid of experimenting, you do not know what
lies ahead, nd your passion, and keep exploring until you don’t nd it,

Some scraps of my college days
I screwed up my board exams and the engineering entrances too. I was
getting good at screwing the exams. But I secured a rank good enough to
get to AIET campus part, AIET Ranking wise it was the topmost
engineering college under VTU University. Though, I had not heard
about the college or the university earlier. I was not even interested in
engineering entrance exam but it was included in the bunch of exams I
appeared for.
Life at AIET was boring especially in the Civil engineering department.
There were no more than three-four girls in each class and those too
were not hot. The other departments of the main campus like the CS
ECE IS department had a bunch of hotter chicks. Every girl there was an
opportunity. Academics were a joke in our college. It was a college of
those who screwed up their JEE entrance exams. The campus too was a
huge one. It was situated in outskirts of Mangalore . The college was
mind-numbing. The professors were so boring that I once lost my
interest in engineering.
Hostel life was not that boring in the campus. Thanks to the free Wi-Fi
for the hostelers which kept the hostelers busy in movies and porn. In
the starting days of college, every night there were ban on android
phone yess really!!!
There was only one kind of people in the hostel - The ones who study
one night before the exam. 'Yaar! Paper kiska hai? Aur syllabus kya hai?'
two most common questions everyone ask in the hostel as soon as the
day of exam started, sharp 12:00 am. Being a hosteler was interesting.
You have somebody to shake you or bang at your door until you wake
up. Somebody to give you an idea about things to be studied for exam!

1st time failed so badly 1sem 8 subjects wrote 14 subjects non
stop in 4th sem. Last day last exam the moment teacher handed me
question paper I decided engineer was not for me I left the place writing
only name in the answer sheet and left the place losing all the hope. That
night called my dad and told him I can't do it, the only person who
supported me at my bad times my dad, I sometimes how can anyone be
so great he tributed everything fr me and I was unable to full his dream
later that day I made my resume with nothing in it the moment I decided
its time to start something new I decided I will be a designer... As I leave
college, I understand a lot of things I wouldn’t as a fresher , I take with
me a million moments lled with joy, sadness, happiness and especially
nostalgia, I believe in myself now, I know my strengths and weaknesses, I
know path and I do believe that one day I shall make a dent in the
universe

Hostel life develops exam-time yaar and great friendships. But when you
are a hosteler, you no longer have a life outside the four walls of the
college. And the most important concern was the tasteless hostel food.
It was horrible. Maggi was the main food supplement. For me, the best
part about being in a hostel was that I no longer had to hide from my
mom and I can spend time on the phone with the girl I dated. It felt
awesome.
When it was about my class, there were three categories of people in it.
The rst category was 'The Front Benchers'. It consisted of those who
attended all the classes, no matter how boring they were. They always
thought they were in school. They would show up to class ve minutes
early. They would attend the class even if they were the only one
present and would note down every single word the professor would
say. They probably ate their lunch in the library. But they were the ones
who topped the class.Luckily i was the bencher.
6
I was always the achiever in class. I often get left behind because I never
easily understood mathematics lessons taught and I never made the
effort to try harder. Sometimes, in order for me to catch up to our
lessons, I would beg for the smartest kid in class to help me with the
explanation of problems.I always tried hiding myself from maths teacher.
Classmates used to think i wa me the dumb one because I always
showed everyone a blank expression when asked about maths
problems. To them, I was just the classmate who got by because the
professors selected me. It hurts to be that one in class. It hurts to be
remembered as that one in class.
While I knew where my strengths are, I also knew that mathematics was
one of my weaknesses. You may ask me why I pursued it then. Well, to
answer that question, I took it because I had to full my dads dream. My
dream was to become a Dr. OR a chef. It’s not exactly the best answer I
could give but I knew I needed to take it. As expected, if I was having a
difcult time in my studies, chances of failing a lot in exams and subjects
were high. And yes, I did fail miserably. I failed in exams. I failed in major
subjects. Heck, I was the only one who failed in our class in the internal
exam. still I was every professor’s favourite student.
It took me years to realize the most important lesson of what was going
on in my life. For someone who has been ashamed of one’s self, it really
hurt my pride to keep seeing failing grades. But what I didn’t realize was
every time I get a failing grade in an exam, I studied more to improve my
score in the next exam. When I fail a subject, I try again and I eventually
failed. When I failed the semester exam – after crying my heart out for
disappointing my parents and everyone else, I studied really really hard
and I still failed on my last take. I realized that for every failure I got, I
was given the opportunity to try again. Second chances, third chances,
whatever chance you’re given, you should always open your doors to
trying again. It’s never going to be easy but trying again allows you to see
your mistakes and learn from them. Atlast i lost all my hope and quit
engineering.

The step of a love in my life
It was August'3rd 2015 when I joined my college. Finally I was in
'COLLEGE', where I could do whatever I had planned for myself the
whole life. I thought those 4 years will change me and my life, I could be
a lead artist or a chef but something different was written in my destiny
Anyways, I started off with the new life. I opted for civil engineering.
There were 5 departments of engineering in AIET. I was in one of them.
People were quite ordinary. I mean, I couldn't nd anyone very different
or interesting (which I always dreamt of BTW). I always wished to have
this "Mumabi group" in college, different friends gifted with different
talents. Everybody wishing to be my buddy. I made friends, but badluck
no one was from mumbai in my class i felt all alone, but hostel was great
had a bunch of 21 mumbai friends .
It was Maths class. She was sitting in the 1st bench and i was sitting in
2nd . She was damn cute her smile mashallah ,I guess that's why i looked
at her but no i was weak in maths i was peeping in her sheet, otherwise I
would have not even looked. She was wearing saffron color kurti and i
dont know it just attracted me. After few mins when the whole class was
silent, all of a sudden teachers calls me to solve a problem on black
board i was like 1st day i was going to be insulted very badly by her i was
unable to solve though friends were directing me from behind .. but i still
remember the question (p tan + q sec = y).
I would not like to continue due to personal reason. So this chapter “The
step of a love in my life” ends here
days passed by........
to be continued

Failure
There was a time when last 2 years back when i quit engineering my 4th
nal semester. I was in search of job from that moment itself I was
unable to nd any job of my type wiith a 12th pass qualication. Hence, I
decided to search job in BPO though i was not interested but in
pressure. First I randomly sent my resume to different companies via job
portal. I waited for some time but had no success. Then I decided to go
step by step. I listed down all relevant companies in mumbai thane
mulund and every day I shared my resume with 2 companies at least,
Again I hardly got any interview call from any of the company. I really
didn't know what was wrong I went with no interest for Bpo job they
told me to type something my goodluck and failed in it i was happy that
day had a tea cigarette and went back home that day .
My frustration level was also increasing day by day. Then I started calling
my friends and relatives if they know somebody in any company so that I
can get some opportunity but again no help.Ps."Relatives never gonna
help u" With all these struggling time,. then i decided decisigning he only
hope , took admission in 3ds max coaching classes Now the bigger
problem came as I had no job. Thus moths passed by nad i completed by
coarse.Theres still lots of struggle in nding a job i was unemplayed for
7months it was the toughest phase of my life answaering by relatives and
neighbours . My frustration level went on peak as still no success. After
that I started targeting even smaller companies. I used to go there to give
interview in order to make myself ready and competent enough for any
future opportunity.
Finally 1 month passed without any success. I also stopped talking to my
friends and relatives in those times not because I don’t want to talk but it
makes me feel so embarrassing whenever they ask about my job yet I
was connected with few of those people who understand my situation
and who has faith on me. . Still remember, especially with my attitude
while my wait for this success and how nally I achieved success. One day
i got a call from a friend of my dad and that was the moment which
changed everything in my life,i enetered into the world of events as 3d
visualizer as the youngest in the comapny.
Obstacles, problems and frustrations are meant to come in a way of
success and they only indicate that you are trying. So never give up and
have patience, you are no far with the success.
