Places of Attraction
Phong Nha-Ke Bang
Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park boasts many
attractions, but none is so popular as its caves. The
Phong Nha Caves are made up of hundreds of cave
systems, many of which are large enough to hold entire
city blocks. The biggest, and most notable, is Hang Son
Doong. A gateway to the caves is Son Trach, a growing
village that is home to several transport links
throughout Vietnam, local restaurants and meeting
points for guided tours to the caves.
PENANG HILL
The top of Penang Hill can be
reached via the Penang Hill
Railway, an air-conditioned
funicular that makes the 2,007-
meter-long climb up in five to 10
minutes. Although there are mid-
stops between the base station
and the highest point, these are
done only on request and mostly
used by residents who live at those

National Costumes
AO BA BA (The Shirt of Madam Ba)
Although Ao Dai is chosen as Vietnamese national costume, the
people in the Mekong Delta (southern Vietnam) has their own
traditional clothing – the Ao Ba Ba. This costume is so popular in
the southwestern countryside that you can see most of the local
people wearing this shirt during their daily activities. While you
visit Mekong Delta, you can be impressed by the images of the Ao
Ba Ba glimmering under the green coconut groves, in the rowing
boats down the rivers, on the monkey bamboo bridges, or
between the crowded floating markets.

Festival Celebration
TET TRUNG THU (MID-AUTUMN
FESTIVAL)
Tet Trung Thu means the weather in the
middle of the fall. The ceremony is on the
lunar fifteenth of the eighth month. On
occasion, children are given gifts such as
lanterns, moon cakes, candy…They bring
lantern, going throughout towns, villages and
dance, sing. They also are seen lion dance.
Adults offer ancestor fruit, moon cake… and
see the moon. This is the ceremony of
children.
HARI RAYA
AIDILFITRI/EID
The Muslim community in
Malaysia celebrate Hari
Raya Aidilfitri, or also known
as Hari Raya Puasa. Every
year, after the fasting
month of Ramadhan,
Muslims celebrate Hari Raya
Puasa which falls in the
month of Syawal.

Childhood Games
Gasing
'Gasing' or tops spinning, is a traditional games popular among Malay. It is
usually made of wood or hard fruit, iron and lead. Both adults and children
can play the game. Adults use much bigger gasing in size and can spin for
a period of time, but children play much smaller gasing.
Cat and Mouse game (Meo duoi chuot)
As usual, this game includes in more than seven members in a team. They stand in a
circle, hold and raise their hands above their heads. After that, they will choose one person
as a cat and another as a mouse. Both will stand in the middle of the circle and lean
against each other. When someone shouts from 1 to 3, the mouse starts running, the cat
must run after it to chase. The cat will win the game when he catches the mouse.

Wedding Ceremonies

in even numbers. The parents of the
groom will pray in front of the altar
of the bride’s ancestors, then ask her
parents for permission to allow their
children to date. And yes, this is just
a formal ceremony to ask for the
