Snake-blade Specialist There are a few Artificers who have decided to create a wondrous blade full of both fluidity and physicality. They are amazing fighters and able to deftly wield their blade with deadly skill. While not the typical Artificer, they still are great comrades to have in battle. Snake Sword 3rd-level Snake-blade feature Your tinkering has borne you a beautiful blade that reacts to your magic. You also gain proficiency with your snake-blade weapon, which you can create over the course of an hour and can be during a Short Rest, if you have Smith’s Tools. It can be made in the basic shape of a Shortsword, Longsword, Rapier, or Greatsword and has the properties of the chosen form. If you already have a snake-blade from this feature, the first one is immediately destroyed. The snake-blade ceases to function if you die. This weapon counts as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to non-magical attacks and damage. Additionally, you can use your spellcasting ability modifier instead of strength for the attack and damage rolls. You also gain Control Points equal to your level in this class. You can use these Control Points to use different Manipulations that your snake-blade can do in battle. You know 3 Manipulations at 3rd level. You learn additional Manipulations at later level; 1 at 8t level, 1 at 13th level, and 1 at 18th level. You can only use one control point per turn. You regain all expended Control Points when you finish a long rest.
Manipulations By using magic, you can manipulate your blade to perform certain actions to get the edge in battle. Grinding Blades - When you hit a creature with your snake-blade, you can use your Bonus Action and spend 1 Control Point to make your sword grind, doubling the slashing damage you do for that attack. Coiling Blades - As a Bonus Action, you can spend 1 Control Point to take the Dodge action. Slithering Blade - As a Bonus Action, you can spend 1 Control Point to take the Disengage action. Grappling Blade - When you hit a creature with your snake-blade, you can use your Bonus Action and spend 1 Control Point to attempt to Restrain the creature. The target must succeed on a Dexterity Saving Throw against your spell save DC or be Restrained. You cannot attack while your snake-blade is restraining a creature. While you have a creature Restrained, you can use your Action to deal weapon damage to the target automatically. The creature can use their Action to attempt to break free from the snake-blade. If the creature breaks free of the snake-blade, they receive slashing damage equal to your spellcasting modifier. Stunning Stab - When you hit a creature with your snake-blade, you can use your Bonus Action and spend 1 Control Point to attempt to Stun the creature. The target must succeed on a Constitution Saving Throw or be stunned until the end of your next turn. Extended Strike - As a Bonus Action, you can spend 1 Control Point and extend your snake-blade to have a Reach of 15 ft. for the rest of your turn. Until the end of your next turn, that target has disadvantage on attack rolls against creatures other than you. Tornado Slice - As an Action, you can spend 1 Control Point and cause your whip to whirl around you. Each creature within 5 ft. of you must succeed on a Dexterity Saving Throw or take your weapon’s damage, you can add the force damage from your Improved Arcane Strike (if at a level to do so).
