Pandemic: Auspicious time to practice Acceptance
A good friend once said,” if you want to be happy, accept life as it is and
let go what you cannot control’. This covid-19 crisis reality feels unacceptable
to many of us and some of us feel like hitting the pandemic wall because
we are not able to practice what the above saying demands us to.
Facing the current reality is not the easiest thing to do but accepting it
can make us happier in the present and lead to a better future. Acknowledging
the reality, will help us choose our dreams wisely and then help us achieve
them. Let us not shy away from challenges but wade into the struggle and
get comfortable with living there. Struggles are a way of life and we have
to learn to confront them. And we never know: something the most challenging
can hold the greatest opportunity for success… as is always the case:
Fight with reality, reality wins. So my dear readers, the situation will
change or you will change but change will happen. Let’s practice
acceptance.

Mother’s Day - a sweet and charming occasion that any son or daughter can’t afford
to miss is a commemorative event which is cherished and loved by all. This is the
day we all get to celebrate with our best friend and the person to whom we always
turn to when we need advice. This day celebrates the bond of love and affection
that is everlasting and is something everyone can relate to. Keeping this bonding
emotion in mind, Smart Indian School made this quarantine Mother’s Day the most
memorable and unforgettable for their students by involving them in preparing
something special and unique for their mothers.
When the tiny toddlers of the Primary Wing surprised their mothers with unique
and amazing cards, the middle and the senior grade students made their mothers
feel special by their sweet and emotional speeches.

The sole community that deserves the most laudable notice was honoured at
Bhavans Smart Indian School on the prestigious International Nurses Day. The day
was observed by remembering the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale who
had also been the propagator of modern nursing. The day which is dedicated to the
people whose value of service remains beyond measure and expectation was rightly
given a huge respect and applause by the student community.
The students of all the grades, who were in perfect apprehension to the challenges
taken by the rescuers, had read out the words of thanks in honour of the day. The
pledge taken to assure the safety of each nurse and to offer thanks for their
unfathomable service created huge impact on the children who realized the greatness of
the profession in the moments like this. The students along with the teachers
poured the hearty thanks and remembered the riskiness of the job along with the
determination that pulls them towards their work of great humane quality.

It is said that family is where life begins and love never ends. International Family
day is celebrated every year on May 15. This day was proclaimed by the UN General
Assembly in 1993 with the aim to highlight the importance attached to families by
the international community. It’s an occasion to celebrate the importance
of families, people, societies and cultures around the world.
Since the world is maintaining social distancing in the current situation, classes have
taken the virtual route and so has the celebrations. The Kindergartners of Bhavans
Smart Indian school were given an opportunity to express their love and affection
for their families on the occasion of ‘The International Day of Families 2020’ which
was celebrated during our online classes. Teachers explained the importance of a
family and the love and care a family provides us.The session inculcated a feeling of
love and respect for the family in their young minds.

Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the month
of Ramadan and the beginning of the tenth month in the Islamic calendar
The KG Wing of Bhavans Smart Indian School celebrated Eid al-Fitr on 21St May,
2020, during its online classes. A presentation and videos were shown to the
children that enlightened them about the festival by highlighting its history, significance
and the celebrations.
Lively and fun-filled activities were also seen in Primary and Senior Wing where the
children prepared beautiful patterns of glossy and attractive lanterns that reflected the
astounding creation and a keen sense of devotion to these auspicious days. The card
making and poster making activities carried out by the Middle wing broadcasted a
thorough making of the awe-striking creation that liberated their unique talents of
scattering catchy lines about the festival as well as the works of art which let
several hues speak stories.

Music; the mesmerizing arrangement of sound hypnotizes anyone to move unconsciously in
response to it. It is the most soothing and healing expression of humanity. It is the
soul of nature, the gesture of love. Music in itself is healing, emotionally soothing
our brain and heart. No matter what culture we are, we wholeheartedly accept the
universal bonding and unity generated by the rhythm and beat of music. It was this
universal bonding and love for music brought the Bhavans Middle East Parivar on a
virtual platform with its most enthralling musical extravaganza ‘Swarasandhya –
Season 8’.
This joy of music was inaugurated by the honourable chairman of Bhavans Middle
East- Mr.N.K. Ramachandran Menon and Mrs. Sudha Ramachandran by virtually lighting the
lamp. After this ceremonious event the concerto opened up with the melodious devotional
recitals by various musical maestros of the Bhavans family.
The dignified audience; Principals, Vice Principals, Academic coordinators, KG Supervisors
and the heads of various departments logged in along with more than two hundred
teachers from various schools of Bhavans Middle East and enjoyed the experience
of hearing the most beautiful melo- dies
from the old to the most popular

Ceremony at Bhavans Smart Indian School. The first virtual power investing ceremony took a
turn of experiencing deep beauty through the eyes that witnessed it and the privilege to
drench in the celestial aura of the dignitary’s speech. Though the occasion turned
bitterly distant to cherish the ceremony in conventional way but the moments like
these in virtual mode where the children understanding the need of the hour coupled with

As an initiative taken by the Science Department, Bhavans Smart Indian School conducted
a virtual session for the students of grades 8 – 11 to commemorate ‘World No
Tobacco Day’. The renowned oncologist and the motivational speaker from Kuwait
Cancer Control Center (KCCC), Ms. Susovana Nair presided and provided an eye-opening session
for the students on the precariousness of the venomous usage of tobacco and
nicotine. The speaker pointed out the high risk that the children cultivate by
normalizing the use of these perilous products. World Health Organization (WHO)
along with the sectors that prioritize public health have taken these efforts to
bring this commemoration as a global observation and on this day the school was
really keen to disseminate the message, which the health organizations are striving
for, to its own students. The session went on for an hour where the students were
enlightened not only on the negative effects of tobacco but also to fight against it
by saying a big ‘NO’ to its glossy and embellishing advertisements and practice.

“May there be well-being in all
May there be peace in all
May there be fulfilment in all
May there be auspiciousness in all”
It is extremely important to have good immunity in
order to stay away from all types of diseases and yoga
is one way in which you can.
The aim of yoga is to create a balance between the
mind and body. Due to its health benefits and positive
effects on overall well-being the United Nations has
st
recognised 21 June as International Yoga Day.
There are various yoga asans that everyone can perform at their homes and safeguard themselves
from several infectious diseases like coronavirus. A good immune system is the biggest shield for
everyone at this time.
The recent situation may prove daunting on our physiological and psychological well-being, due to
lack of social mingling, outdoor and office routine. This is when the ancient old wisdom of yoga
comes to rescue. Yoga can be used to effectively improve well-being at this time. The best thing
about yoga is that it is for every age group. We learnt yoga through online classes. My son learnt
Sun Salutation as a beginner. Surya Namaskar or Sun Salutation is a great warm up for all the family
members irrespective of their age. It’s a combination of twelve yoga poses. It stretches the
entire body and helps to move every joint. It can be done in the morning or evening.
Daily practice of sun salutation has plenty of benefits for kids as it calms the mind and helps them
to get rid of restless energy. It inculcates a sense of discipline; makes their bones and joints
stronger. It exercises almost every muscle from top to bottom and also the organs internally. It
has a great effect on the blood circulation, as increased blood flow to all the organs make them
more efficient.
Among the many benefits of sun salutation, below are a few prominent advantages:
Improved concentration
Enhanced memory power
Increased energy levels
Physical strength
Calm and focused mind
Happy state of being
Better immune system
Higher efficiency
Increased learning capacity
Optimised metabolism
As we encourage our child for yoga, it would be beneficial if we also roll out a yoga mat. While
teaching them to navigate through the outer world of skills, competencies and adventures of life,
we will also be teaching them to explore their inner space with some help of yoga and meditation.

Is our Mother Earth happy? No, she isn’t. Why? Well, obviously due to numerous reasons,
few of which have been mentioned below.
We humans are not treating our Mother Earth with the respect she deserves. We keep our
homes clean, yet litter everywhere. We pollute the forests, rivers, seas and the entire
earth in the process. How much will she keep taking with all the things that we throw at
her? No, she isn’t happy.
The factories where some of us work and the vehicles we use churn out pollution like none
other. We consume only the pure oxygen that is given by the Mother Earth yet release all
kinds of toxic gases polluting our atmosphere and damaging our Mother Earth. No, she isn’t
happy.
We cut trees in the name of urbanisation, destroy our agricultural lands, yet we humans
depend on our Mother Earth for food. It is like we take so much from our Mother earth by
destroying her, but do not take care of her. We do not plant trees; take care of agricultural
lands, etc. No, our Mother is not happy.
We melt our Mother Earth’s icecaps, melt her icebergs, and yet take no actions to control
Global Warming. We sit in our air conditioned living spaces and complain about the heat
outside. What about the heat that our Mother Earth feels? No, she isn’t happy.
We kill and consume the endangered animals, consume unnatural processed foods instead of
the natural foods that our Mother Earth provides and yet don’t take blame for all the diseases
that prevail in this world. No, our Mother Earth isn’t happy.
Instead of enjoying nature by going to beaches and parks, we go to shopping malls (which
consume lots of energy), buy processed foods, pack them in plastic bags, eat junk food and
pollute the earth. No, our Mother Earth is not happy.
The forests are getting destroyed due to wildfires. Last year alone there were major wildfires
in the Amazon forests and in Australia. Millions of acres of land were destroyed. One billion
animals were killed. The fires also drastically reduced air quality due to smoke. Though
bushfires are common in Australia every year, this time however the fires have been
unprecedented. These fires have been linked to climate change and global warming. How
will our Mother Earth be happy? No, she isn’t happy.
We destroy the natural resources of our dear Mother Earth and due to this we face
severe consequences in the form of climate change and diseases. We also turn a blind eye
to the fact that this will affect the next generation. No, our Mother Earth is not happy.
You want to make her happy? Well, start by not throwing garbage everywhere, by not
polluting our atmosphere, by planting more trees and increasing our agricultural lands by
supporting our farmers, by eating natural foods and thereby enjoying and respecting our
Mother Earth.

AEROPLANES
I want to fly a plane some day. I want to become a pilot when I grow up. I
learn about planes from Google, games and YouTube. There are many
kinds of airplanes like Boeing, Airbus and fighter planes. Soldiers use
fighter planes to shoot enemies. I know many parts of the plane- cockpit,
cabin, wings, rudder, fuselage, wings, engine, flaps and the tail. To fly a
plane, turn on both engines, disable the brakes, open the flaps, push the
throttle on the runway and use the steering to turn. If something goes
wrong, I will make an emergency landing in the nearest airport. In water
landing, passengers will put on their life vest and inflate it and try to
swim in the water. When there is a crash landing, passengers should go to
emergency exits with lights and slide down. When engines fail, a rejected
takeoff happens and passengers have to wear oxygen masks because of
smoke. I want to fly safely on Kuwait Airways, Emirates and Etihad
airways. I will tell everybody to fasten seatbelts before take off and
landing. I will be a good pilot when I am an adult. I want my family and all
my friends to fly with me in my aeroplane.
