Preface

I chose Selena Gomez as the main topic
because she’s quite well known for her songs. So it
would be nice to know about their religious beliefs
about their religion.

Introduction

As you know that people, each have their own
different thoughts about their religion. But what if
we take a look at celebrities on their beliefs. It would
be great and interesting.

So in this, we will be looking specifically at
Selena Gomez and her thoughts on her own religion
on what she’s thinking about it and if the religions
make any inspiration on her songs. Including her
biography.

Biography

Selena Marie Gomez is an American singer,
actress, and producer. Born and raised in Texas, she
started her acting career as a kid and she has been in
many shows. Gomez released three albums with her
former band, Selena Gomez & The Scene, all of which
reached the top ten of the US Billboard US 200.

As of 2017, Selena

Gomez has sold over

seven million albums

and 22 million singles

worldwide according to

Billboard. She has

received various

accolades and was

named Billboard's

Woman of the Year in

2017. She has a large

following on social media and is the most followed

musician on Instagram. Gomez's other ventures

include a makeup line, a clothing line, a handbag line,

and a fragrance line. She has worked with many

charitable organizations and served as a UNICEF

ambassador since age 17.

Early Life
Selena Marie Gomez was born on July 22,

1992, in Grand Prairie, Texas to Ricardo Joel Gomez
and Texas-born former stage actress Mandy Teefey.
Her father is of Mexican descent, while her mother,
who was adopted, has some Italian ancestry.

Selena Gomez was born when her mother was
16 years old. The family had financial troubles
throughout Gomez's childhood, her mother
struggling to provide for the pair. At one point,
Gomez recalls that they had to search for quarters
just to get gas for their car. Her mother later recalled

that the two would frequently walk to their local
dollar store to buy spaghetti for dinner.

Selena Gomez had a close relationship with
her grandparents as a child and appeared in various
pageants. Her grandparents often took care of her
while her parents finished their schooling, and she
has said they "raised her" until she found success in
show business.

Religion and her beliefs

Selena Gomez was raised Catholic by her
parents and the singer/actress is still a practicing
Christian, though now of the Pentecostal persuasion.

The pop star, 24, appeared on the Zach Sang
Show, an internet radio program in Los Angeles
where she discussed faith, her latest song, "Bad Liar,"
the role therapy plays in her life, and her boyfriend,
rapper The Weeknd.

Selena Gomez doesn't like her religion, but is still
cool with God, she revealed in a recent radio
interview.

"That word (religion) freaks me out sometimes,
you know?"

Gomez has stated she was raised Catholic, but has
been seen attending the Pentecostal Hillsong
Church. Hillsong, while traditionally against
homosexuality, which Gomez supports, says they are
"gay welcoming."

"I don't know if it's necessarily that I believe in
religion, as much as I believe in faith and a
relationship with God,"

"I've just experienced things in my life where there are
holes in things that nothing else can fill and I know
that if I didn't have the faith that I had it wouldn't have
gotten me through some of the hardest times in my
life," the singer said in the radio interview.

This shows about her thoughts on religious beliefs.
In conclusion, she doesn’t agree with her religious
beliefs. Mainly because of the belief of traditional
Christianity on LGBTQ+ community. However she
still practices and maintains her beliefs in god.

Here’s one of her quotes about her beliefs.
"Sometimes we think we aren’t good enough.
But then I realize when I think I’m alone. I have god."
