Mother Katharine—We should “Love not in word, but in work.” We can interest others in learning about God by living God first – doing what God asks each one of us to do. If others can see God in us, they might become interested in knowing more about God.

Question: Why is St. Katharine wearing a Franciscan cord?
Answer: Many groups along with SBS adopted the convention of wearing a knotted cord in recognition of the ropes that bound Jesus and as a reminder of their commitment. The white cord worn by dedicated Franciscans has from one to five knots that are tied in a bullion style. Three knots on the cord represents the vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience.

Mission Statement:
Guided by the spirit of Katharine Drexel,
the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament are called to share the Gospel message with the poor, especially among the Black and Native American peoples, and to challenge all forms of racism as well as the other deeply rooted injustices in the world today.
