READING LABELS

ฉลาก (Labels) หมายถึง ขอ้ ความที่บอกรายละเอียดเฉพาะของสินคา้ ซ่ึงพิมพต์ ิดอยกู่ บั สินคา้
ในลกั ษณะของป้าย หรือฉลาก เช่น ฉลากยา โดยการติดฉลากน้ันอาจจะติดอยู่กบั ตวั สินคา้ หรือ
ภาชนะบรรจุกไ็ ด้

สาหรับบทน้ี จะศึกษาฉลากดงั ตอ่ ไปน้ี
1. Medicine Labels (ฉลากยา)
2. Labels on prescription medicines (ฉลากยาตามใบส่งั แพทย)์

1. Medicine Labels (ฉลากยา)

จากฉลากท่ีเราไดพ้ บ จะเห็นไดว้ า่ มีรายละเอียดตา่ งๆ มาก ซ่ึงผใู้ ชย้ าควรทราบ อาทิ เช่น
- ส่วนประกอบของยา (Active ingredients)
- ช่ือของยา (Name of product)
- อาการของโรคที่จะช่วยบรรเทาหรือรักษา (Symptoms the product will relieve)
- ช่ือและท่ีอยขู่ องผผู้ ลิต (Name and address of the company making the product)
- วนั ที่ผลิต (Manufactured date)
- ปริมาณของยา (Volume of product)
- ราคาของยา (Price of product)
- เลขที่จดทะเบียน (Registration number)
- ขนาดและวธิ ีการใชย้ า (The amount of each dose and how frequently it may be taken)

นอกจากรายละเอียดข้างต้น ฉลากยาท่ีผู้ซ้ือยาสามารถหาซ้ือได้เองยงั ให้รายละเอียด
วธิ ีการใชย้ าท่ีเฉพาะเจาะจงลงไป เช่น ขนาดของยาที่ใช้ในแต่ละคร้ัง ความถี่ในการใชย้ า และควร
ใชย้ าอยา่ งไรในแตล่ ะคร้ัง ดงั ตวั อยา่ งตอ่ ไปน้ี

ฉลากยายงั ให้รายละเอียดเกี่ยวกบั ขอ้ ควรระวงั (cautions or warnings) และอาการขา้ งเคียง
(side effects) เพ่อื ความปลอดภยั ของผใู้ ช้ ดงั ตวั อยา่ งตอ่ ไปน้ี

Labels on prescription medicines
(ฉลากยาตามใบส่งั แพทย)์

ในส่วนของใบส่ังแพทยน์ ้นั จะมีเพียงแพทยเ์ ทา่ น้นั ที่สามารถจะเขียนใบสง่ั ยาได้ โดยแพทย์
จะสั่งเภสัชกรวา่ จะให้คนไขใ้ ชย้ าอยา่ งไร เม่ือแพทยส์ ั่งยาแลว้ เภสัชกรจะพิมพค์ าสั่งของแพทยล์ ง
บนฉลากยา ในฉลากยาจะบอกปริมาณยาที่คนไขต้ อ้ งกินในแตล่ ะคร้ังและจานวนคร้ังในแต่ละวนั

ใบสั่งของแพทยจ์ ะแตกต่างจากฉลากยาที่ผซู้ ้ือหาซ้ือไดท้ วั่ ไปตรงที่ฉลากจะไม่บอกวา่ ยาท่ี
คนไขก้ ินน้นั รักษาโรคอะไร ไม่มีแมผ้ ลขา้ งเคียงที่จะเกิดจากการใช้ยา รวมท้งั ไม่มีการเตือนใดๆ
แมแ้ ตช่ ่ือยาบางคร้ังก็ไม่ไดม้ ีการระบุไวบ้ นฉลากยา ถา้ คนไขอ้ ยากทราบรายละเอียด ตอ้ งถามแพทย์

A. Symptoms of Illness (อาการเจบ็ ป่วย)

1. ache แปลว่า ปวด ใชก้ บั ส่วนต่าง ๆ ของร่างกาย 5 ส่วน ไดแ้ ก่

- Earache = ปวดหู - Headache = ปวดศีรษะ

- Toothache = ปวดฟัน - Stomachache = ปวดทอ้ ง

- Backache = ปวดหลงั

2. sore แปลว่า เจ็บ ปวด หรือ แสบ ใช้เติมหน้าคาและหลังคาท่ีเป็ นส่วนต่าง ๆ ของ

ร่างกาย

- Sore throat = เจบ็ คอ - Soar knee = ปวดเขา่

- Soar finger = ปวดนิ้ว - Footsore = ปวดเทา้

- Bedsore = อาการเจบ็ ที่ผวิ หนงั เนื่องจากนอนมาก

3. pain เป็ นคานามแปลว่า เจ็บป่ วย ปวดร้าว ใชใ้ นรูปของประโยค เช่น I’ve got a pain in

my chest.

4. hurt เป็ นคากริยา แปลว่า เจ็บป่ วย บาดเจ็บ เจ็บ ใชใ้ นรูปของประโยค เช่น

My leg hurts. = บาดเจบ็ ท่ีขา

B : Telling illness symptoms to other (การบอกอาการเจ็บปว่ ยแกผ้ ้อู ่นื )

1. การบอกอาการเจ็บป่ วยให้ผู้อื่นทราบ พูดดังนี้

a cold = เป็นหวดั diarrhea = โรคทอ้ งร่วง

a cough = ไอ insomnia = โรคนอนไม่หลบั

a sore throat = เจบ็ คอ sunburn = ผวิ หนงั อกั เสบ

a temperature = มีไข้ an earache = ปวดหู

I have... a stomachache = ปวดทอ้ ง a black eye = ตาฟกช้า
a headache = ปวดศีรษะ a pain in my side = ปวดสีขา้ ง

chest pains = เจบ็ หนา้ อก a rash on my chest = มีผนื่ ที่หนา้ อก

hives = โรคลมพษิ a bruise on my leg = ขาฟกช้า

indigesting = อาหารไม่ยอ่ ย a lump on my arm = มีนูนท่ีแขน

I am... depressed = หดหูใจ tense = เครียด
constipate = ทอ้ งผกู tired all the time = เหน่ือยอ่อนตลอดเวลา

nauseous = คลื่นเหียน shivery = หนาวสั่น

I feel... breathless = หอบ weak = อ่อนเพลีย

dizzy = วงิ เวยี นศีรษะ stuffed up = คดั จมูก

C : Drug labels. (ฉลากยา)

1. การอ่านฉลากยา (Drug labels)
3.1 ขอ้ มูลในสลากยาแบ่งออกเป็น 3 ส่วน คือ
- Direction (ขอ้ บง่ ใชย้ า) บอกขนาดยาท่ีใช้ และจานวนคร้ังที่ใชย้ าน้นั ๆ คาศพั ทท์ ่ี

ใชจ้ ะเป็นคาศพั ทเ์ ฉพาะ เช่น
Usually once daily = ใชว้ นั ละ 1 คร้ังเท่าน้นั
For external use only = ยาใชท้ าภายนอกยาเฉพาะที่
Apply topically 3 or 4 times a day = ใชว้ นั ละ3 หรือ 4 คร้ัง
Apply directly to the wounds. Cuts and burns = ใส่แผลสด

- Indication (สรรพคุณยา) บอกใหท้ ราบวา่ ยาชนิดน้ีใชร้ ักษาบาบดั อาการชนิดใด เช่น
relieve pain / cough /headache/ fever = บรรเทาอาการเจ็บป่ วย/อาการไอ/อาการ
เจบ็ ปวดศีรษะ/อาการไข้
skin protector = ปกป้องผวิ
anti-inflammatory = รักษาอาการอกั เสบจากไฟไหมห้ รือน้าร้อนลวก
- Instruction (ขอ้ ปฏิบตั ิ) เป็นขอ้ กาหนดใหผ้ ใู้ ชย้ าปฏิบตั ิตาม เช่น
Keep in cool place = เกบ็ ไวใ้ นที่เยน็
Don’t take by mouth = หา้ มรับประทาน
Shake well before use = เขยา่ ขวดก่อนใชย้ า
Use according to direction of physician or pharmacist = ใช้ภายใตค้ าแนะนาของ
แพทยห์ รือเภสัชกร

3.2 อกั ษรยอ่ บนฉลากยาที่ควรทราบ Mf. D (manufactured data) = วนั ผลิต
Exp.(expired) = หมดอายุ Ml. (milliliter) = มิลลิลิตร
Mg. (milligram) = มิลลิกรัม
