Congratulations
to the Avila College
Class of 2019!

Avila College is delighted to congratulate
the Class of 2019 on their outstanding
results in their VCE and VCAL studies.

19% of the class achieved an ATAR score over 90
and 44% achieved a score over 80, placing them
in the top 10% and 20% of the state respectively.

COLLEGE DUX 2019 Perfect Study Scores

The Avila College DUX We also congratulate Year 11 students

Chloe Luk A genuine scholar, Chloe always seeks to deepen
her understanding, engage with complex issues

English, Mathematical Chloe has excelled in her VCE studies, garnering awards in
Methods, History: Revolutions, History: Revolutions, Health & Human Development and General
Chemistry, Health and Human Academic Excellence (2019), as well as Visual Communication and
Development, Psychology (2018) Design and Psychology Units 3/4 (2018).

Chloe’s outstanding academic achievements have been
mirrored throughout her time at Avila by her participation and
assistance in many aspects of College life including music,
sport and ambassador roles. A quiet and humble student,
Chloe consistently demonstrated the Presentation values which
underpin the Avila ethos.

Chloe hopes to study Physiotherapy at Melbourne University.

Grace Munro An academically motivated and hard working
student, Grace has applied herself to both her
96.55 studies and extra-curricula endeavours at Avila.

Literature, Further Maths, Awarded the academic excellence award for Classical Studies
Classical Studies, in 2019, and General Excellence in 2018, Grace has sought to
Legal Studies, improve her skills through focus and diligence.
Music Performance,
Psychology (2018) Grace has participated across a wide range of areas in the life of
the College, including DAV debating, Student Uniform Committee,
sport, Public Speaking and ICAS science competitions.

An accomplished musician, Grace has been a member of the
College Orchestra, String Orchestra, Choir, Musical Theatre Choir,
Ukelele Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble and Rock Band.

Grace hopes to study Law/Arts at Monash University.

Emma Gare Emma completed a vibrant and
accomplished final year academically
96.45 and in service to the College.

Literature, Further Mathematics, Emma balanced her rigorous academic load with her
Theatre Studies, Italian, Music: role as College Music Vice-Captain. She enthusiastically
Solo Performance, Global embraced this challenge and worked tirelessly to
Politics (2018) enhance the profile and quality of music, and her
encouragement of younger students epitomised her
servant leadership.

A lead in the College musical “Seussical”, Emma
continued to play a pivotal role in many other music
events and has just been selected to audition for Top
Class Theatre Studies, part of the prestigious VCAA
Season of Excellence program. A diligent and thoughtful
student, Emma always approached her studies with an
inquiring mind and drive to improve.

An accomplished public speaker, Emma was actively
involved in the College Orchestra, Reconciliation Group
and ambassador program. Emma plans to study Arts at
the University of Melbourne.

Sinead Kelly A thoughtful and dedicated student,
Sinead has sought not only to excel in
96.15 her own fields of endeavour, but to be of
assistance and encouragement to others.
English, Mathematical Methods,
Legal Studies, Chemistry, Academically, Sinead’s strive for excellence has
Environmental Science, seen her awarded for Environmental Science,
Biology (2018) Legal Studies and English (2019), as well as Biology
Unit 3/4 in 2018. Sinead was the worthy recipient
of the Patricia Ryan Love of Learning Award at our
recent Celebration of Excellence.

Sinead could always be relied on to be heavily
involved in College events and supportive of
other’s endeavours. She has sought to show her
prowess in the area of Public Speaking. Sinead’s
positive attitude and inquisitive nature will stand
her in good stead in her further studies.

Sinead hopes to study Law/Arts at Monash University.

Hayley Cameron Hayley’s studies throughout VCE have been
95.8 characterised by a strong work ethic and a
strive for perfection in all that she does.
English, Further Maths,
Business Management, Her academic prowess has been balanced by Hayley’s
Legal Studies, Studio Arts involvement in extra-curricula activities. Hayley
served the College as Art Vice Captain in 2019, and
enthusiastically ran the Art Club for Junior students.

Hayley has been a valuable contributor in other areas
of the College, as a Peer Helper, DAV debating and
photographer. Hayley was recognised for her academic
achievements at the recent Celebration of Excellence for
both general excellence and in Business Management.

Hayley hopes to study Visual Arts and Business at
Monash University.

Nimrit Kakkar Nimrit has excelled as a mature and scholarly
95.1 student throughout her time at Avila.

English, Maths Methods, Legal An accomplished musician, she has been a committed member
Studies, Physics, French, of a number of College groups, including the College Orchestra,
Visual Communications (2018) Percussion Ensemble and Stage Band. She was recognised for
her outstanding musical endeavours by being awarded the Susan
Puohotaua Orchestra Award for 2019.

Nimrit also received an academic excellence award in Physics
in 2018. Nimrit has sought to balance her academic studies with
not just music, but public speaking and debating also, as a DAV
debater over many years, a former Public Speaking/Debating
captain and in her stellar performance in the United Nations
Youth Association Public Speaking competition in 2017. A modest
and hard working student, Nimrit is generous with her talents
and encouragement of others.

Nimrit intends to study Design/Architecture at the University of
Melbourne.

Chiara Smith As College Co-Captain in 2019, Chiara
has been an active contributor to student
95.05 life and leadership at Avila College.

English, Further Mathematics, With a passion for social justice, a keen aptitude for sport
Mathematical Methods, and a talent for music, Chiara’s community focus has
Chemistry, Psychology, French seen her be an enthusiastic team player, a leader who

witness to her Catholic faith.

Awarded the Australian Defence Force Long Tan award in
both Year 10 and Year 12 in recognition of her community
leadership, Chiara is also an accomplished public speaker
and debater and was awarded the Lions Youth of the Year in
2019 and public speaker award for both district and zone.

Throughout her time at Avila, Chiara has continued to
inspire, encourage and empower students from all year
levels and is a powerful role model within our community.

Chiara plans to study Applied Science Physiotherapy at
Latrobe University.

Charlotte Boylan A quiet achiever with grace and poise,
94.65 Charlotte has shown a dedication to
pursuing excellence in a humble and
English, Literature, Maths unassuming manner.
Methods, Biology, Chemistry,
Classical Studies A talented musician, gifted writer and voracious learner,
Charlotte is a keen and dedicated student and active
collaborator with a strong work ethic.

Her scholarly approach has seen her contribute both
within and beyond the classroom, and she has been
a member of Young Vinnies, the Quill and Ink Writers
Group, the Creative Arts Spectacular and the College
music program.

Charlotte hopes to study medicine at Monash University.
