The Wild Adventure
Written by: Jillian Magnuson
Have you ever met and befriended a wild
animal while in the midst of a fight? I have, and it
was a fun adventure. My name is Lily. I am the
oldest in a family of thirteen. I have seven sisters
and three brothers. My sisters' names are Lydia,
Brielle, Carrie, Madalyn, Jessica, Gretta, and
Leslie. My brothers’ names are Carson, Max, and
Mason(twins).
It is hard to get along with everyone. I just had an
argument with my parents about who was going to do
what chores since I was going off to college in four
months, and I needed some time away from the house. It
is difficult to get along and not fight with so many people
in one household. Our house isn’t very big, so it is
usually cramped inside.
I stomped off muttering, “Just because I am
leaving doesn’t mean that you pile all the chores on
Lydia because she is the second oldest.”

I was taking a walk in the forest to calm down a bit. It
was a very pretty day out. The sun was shining and the birds
were singing and everything was green from the moss on
the ground to the tops of the trees. It was called Greenway
Forest. Not everything was green. Some leaves are brown
from winter and there was brown moss here and there but
most things in the forest were green.
I was sitting against a mossy tree when I heard
something in the bushes. It sounded like a large porcupine
because it made a lot of noise and then I thought it was a
large lion because it had orange on it. Not a porcupine! I was
close, so very close and I wish I wasn’t.
It was a massive tiger. I swallowed hard. I
backed up and nearly tripped on a gnarled root from
the tree I was sitting against before. I hid and I
watched. The tiger had seen me and clearly was
hungry and was looking for something to eat. It
started to growl.
Then it turned around and it started to walk off. I
followed it to where in the forest it had lived. I had
never been to this part of the forest before. I
watched it as it got some meat and went to its cubs
and fed them. Their food looked limited. I knew I
should help, but I didn’t know how.
The tiger seemed very distressed. I
went out and looked for food. I found a
dead deer and a dead bear.
“Jackpot,” I whispered.
It took a while but I eventually brought them back and I
threw the deer out. The mom and the cubs gobbled it all up!
I was very surprised at how fast they did that. It wasn’t even
five minutes.
Then I gave them the bear. They gobbled the bear up in
less than three! I didn’t have any more food. They started to
growl at me and move very slowly towards me. I started to
back up very slowly. They pounced.
I screamed, “Help!”. But they didn’t hurt me. They
knocked me over and started licking my face. It wasn’t
pleasant but at least they didn’t hurt me.
From then on, I continued to bring them food. I soon
earned their trust for survival, but they still hunted
themselves for food all over the forest, and they protected
themselves as well but they let me give them food every
now and then.
They showed me loyalty and
they protected me. I liked them.
They were good to me. I would
never let any of them come to
any harm.
