Military & First Responder Booklet 2024

In 1933, Dawson Trotman was training U.S. Navy sailor Les Spencer in the Christian life. Les brought another young sailor to Trotman and asked Trotman to teach him the same things. Trotman challenged Spencer, “You teach him.” Since that day, Navigators have sought to know Christ, make Him known, and help others do the same®. We share the love of Jesus Christ with the uniformed men and women of our nation’s military, members of first responder communities, and their families. Then we equip them to do the same for the people they encounter in their daily lives. ABOUT THE NAVIGATORS 2 WHY GIVAND WILSOM

You want to be equipped to follow Christ in your everyday life and pass that on to others. With that same objective, we invest in you to help you make disciples at home, in your agency, in your community, or wherever God deploys you. We help you carry out Jesus’ mission to His disciples: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” TACTICAL OBJECTIVES 5 [ Matthew 28:19-20, NIV ]

HOW WE DO IT “[A fellow officer] was willing to take time out of his day and his schedule to meet with me, asking, ‘Matt, what can I help you with? How can I serve you?’ I want to have that same kind of intentionality.” 6 Navigators Military & First Responder is devoted to our uniformed military members, first responders, and their families. Through God’s power, Navigators Military & First Responder helps them to strengthen their faith and equips them to make Christ known to others through Life-to-Life® discipleship. NAVIGATORS INTENTIONALLY INVEST IN PEOPLE, MENTORING THEM IN THE WORD, PRAYER, AND EVERYDAY LIFE. Matt U.S. Army ] ]

GOD’S WORD AND THE NAVIGATORS 10 BIBLE-BASED INTENTIONAL All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 2 Timothy 3:16 1 Corinthians 15:58 Matthew 4:19 Joshua 1:8

RELATIONAL TRANSFORMATIONAL “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. 11 John 13:34-35 Philippians 2:3-4 Revelation 3:20 Matthew 5:16
