The following prayer was composed by Ribbi Eliezer Papo, author of Pele
Yo'es, and is printed in his work Bet Tefillah, wherein are collected prayers
that he composed for various needs. In this prayer, the ill person acknowledges
that it is due to his sins and wrongdoings that Hashem righteously brought this
illness upon him, and that it is from Hashem's kindnesses to punish one for his
sins, leading him to repentance. Then, recognizing that there is no one else to
turn to, he beseeches Hashem to guide him to a complete repentance and to

grant him a complete recovery to be able to serve Hashem properly.

Following the recitation of the mizmorim and verses, the following prayer
is said on behalf of the ill person. The prayer begins with the Thirteen
Attributes of Mercy. In the ensuing prayer, we recognize that it is Hashem
Who heals the sick; we, therefore, beseech Hashem to grant a complete
recovery to this ill person—among all the other Jewish people who are
ill—and grant him/her renewed strength, a complete forgiveness for his/her
sins, and a long, productive life. After reciting verses of good tidings, we
conclude by again praying for Hashem to grant to the ill person a complete

recovery and a long, healthy life.

Sometimes, a decree to be ill is pronounced upon a person specifically with
his current name. Accordingly, if his name is changed, his mazal can change,
and he can have a complete recovery. In this prayer, we beseech Hashem to

The following prayer was composed by Ribbi Eliezer Papo, and is printed
in his work Bet Tefillah, wherein are collected prayers that he composed
for various needs. In this prayer, we beseech Hashem for a complete
recovery for all Jewish people who are ill, and specifically for this person.
We ask Hashem to invoke the Thirteen Attributes of Mercy to temper the
strict judgment and have compassion upon them. The prayer ‘reminds’
Hashem that only those who are alive are able to praise Him and it would,
therefore, be counterproductive to take away the lives of the ill people. We
conclude by asking Hashem to act favorably in the merit of Abraham,
Yisḥak, Yaakob, Moshe, Aharon, Yosef, David Hamelech and all of the

righteous and pious ones.

It is a tradition from our early Sages that the reading of Mizmor 67 (the
Mizmor of the Menorah) from the arrangement of the menorah is a segullah
for success. Accordingly, one should recite the mizmor with proper
concentration. Following its recitation, one should say the following prayer
composed by the Ben Ish Ḥai (found in Leshon Ḥachamim, vol. II, chapter
7, in the Salem edition). In the prayer, we ask Hashem to bless us with
success in all areas in merit of our recitation of Mizmor 67 and all of its

inherent Kabbalistic intentions.

(based on Kaf Aḥat, chapter 3) in his work Bet Tefillah. On the day on

which a woman is scheduled to immerse in the mikveh, her husband should

donate oil to bring about spiritual uplifting for the soul of Ribbi Me’ir Ba’al
Hannes. He then says a prayer in which he asks Hashem—in the merit of

Ribbi Me’ir Ba’al Hannes—that his wife should become pregnant that night,

Bet Tefillah, wherein are collected prayers that he composed for various needs.
In the prayer, a man whose wife is expectant beseeches Hashem to have mercy
upon all pregnant Jewish women—his wife among them—granting them a safe
and easy pregnancy, and allowing them to give birth to viable, healthy children.
He prays further that he and his wife live a long life in the service of Hashem

and they merit seeing their children serve Hashem properly.

various needs. In it, a man whose wife is in her third month of pregnancy
beseeches Hashem to have mercy on all pregnant Jewish women, and to grant
his wife an easy pregnancy. He then prays that his wife carry the child to full

term, and that the baby be born viable and healthy in all aspects.
