Challenges The following challenges have been recurring and affecting our branch, especially as it relates to Membership Drive, which is the bedrock of our revered Institute. • Issues with the Microfinance Bank sub-sector in the State. Anambra State has over eighty (80) Microfinance Banks. Most of the employees are Certified Microfinance professionals and they are more in number, compared to the Deposit Money Bank employees. They always feel reluctant to identify with the branch because they have the feeling, they will never be allowed to participate in council elections. We have been trying to convince them, but if the National Headquarters can step in, their attendance will boost our membership profile. • Issues with the Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) in the State. It will be appreciated if the National Secretariat can assist to make it compulsory for all Deposit Money Bank employees in the State to identify with the Branch and the Institute in general. This is because, they always give excuses of not having the chance, due to workload. • Issues with Members who do not want to identify with the Branch. There is the need to threaten/sanction Members in the state who do not want to identify with the Branch/Institute. The regular payment of their yearly subscription should not be a parameter not to make it mandatory for them to identify with the branch. Sir (Dr) Ifeanyi Nwanna, HCIB Charles N. Ukoh, ACIB Chairman General Secretary
