Background The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria started in 1963 as the Lagos Local Centre, Institute of Bankers, London. It was incorporated in 1976 as the Nigerian Institute of Bankers, a Company Limited by Guarantee. The Institute attained Chartered status and became The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria through Act 12 of 1990 which was repealed and re-enacted as CIBN Act No 5 of 2007. Mandates The Institute's major responsibilities are to: Ÿ Determine the standards of knowledge and skills to be attained by persons seeking to become members of the banking profession. Ÿ Secure in accordance with the provision of the Act, the establishment and maintenance of a register of members of the banking profession in the categories of ordinary members, student members, graduate members, honorary senior members, honorary fellows and fellows of the Institute and a register of corporate members. Ÿ Conduct professional examinations leading to the awards of certificates as may be prescribed by the Institute; and Ÿ Ensure the furtherance, maintenance and obser van ce of et h ical standards and professionalism among practitioners of the banking profession in Nigeria. Membership The Institute has two broad categories of membership, i.e. Corporate and Individual members. Corporate Members Ÿ The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Ÿ The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) Ÿ All Deposit Money Banks (Commercial & Merchant) Ÿ Development Banks Ÿ Microfinance Banks Ÿ Mortgage Banks Ÿ Mobile Money Banks Ÿ Payment Service Banks Individual Members The Institute has a total individual membership of 163,321 as at April 30, 2023 in the following categories: Ÿ Fellows, Honorary Fellows, Associates, Honorary Senior Members, Microfinance Certified Members Ÿ Student Members Ÿ Ordinary Member. Examinations The Institute conducts examinations leading to award of the flagship qualification as Chartered Banker. It also conducts examinations for the award of Microfinance Certified Banker (MCIB) and several other certification programmes in Specialised areas of Banking either severally or jointly in Collaboration with leading Local and International Professional Bodies, Associations and notable Institutions such as Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Risk Management Association of Nigeria (RIMAN), Financial Markets Dealers Association (FMDA), The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI), The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) and Chartered Banker Institute(CBI)/Bangor University. Iyin Aboyeji Founding Partner, Future Africa yinoluwa Aboyeji was born in Lagos on March 28, 1991, to Reverend (Mr) and Reverend (Mrs) I Aboyeji. He is a Nigerian native of Isin LGA in Kwara State. He attended Primary School at St Saviour's Primary School Ebute-Metta, Lagos. After earning his secondary school certificate from the Loyola Jesuit College in Abuja in 2007, he continued to the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies. Iyinoluwa is currently the CEO and General Partner of Fund for Africa's Future (popularly known as Future Africa), Africa's largest seed stage investor which has invested millions of dollars into over hundred startups across Africa. Prior to that he co-founded Flutterwave, a billion-dollar global payments platform connecting African businesses and individuals to the global economy and served as its Founding CEO from May 2, 2016, to October 5, 2018. In those years, he led the company to become one of the fastest growing payments technology businesses of all time, processing over $2 billion across over 50 million transactions. In May 2014, Iyinoluwa co-founded Andela, Africa's largest engineering organization that provides training for African software engineers which has provided training and jobs for over 100,000 African software and tech professionals. The company has received investments from Mark Zuckerberg and Google Ventures, amongst others. Iyinoluwa has also served his country as the youngest member of Nigeria’s Presidential Council on Industrial Policy and Competitiveness and as the Deputy Director General for Madam Obiageli Ezekwesili Campaign for President in 2019. He has been recognized as a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader and a Forbes 30 under 30 honoree amongst other awards and fellowships.


Nefe Etomi Expansion Strategy & Operation Lead, Paystack efé has over 10 years of experience in Financial Services, Consulting and Business NStrategy. She qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ACA) during her time at Deutsche Bank in London where she first worked after graduating BSc (Hons) in Accounting & Finance from Warwick Business School, Warwick University, UK. Nefé completed her MBA at HEC Paris and graduated in 2020 on the Dean's List and with a leadership award. During this time she crafted part of Orange Middle East and Africa Anglophone Expansion Plan. This was where she gained exposure to mobile money and started to play closer attention to the Fintech space. She went on to work at the newly formed Seedstars Africa Ventures (Paris HQ). Prior to joining Seedstars Africa Ventures, Nefe and her co-founder were part of the Rockefeller-Acumen Social Enterprise Accelerator for a company they founded to help grow small businesses and give them access to capital. She went to Nigeria to 'wait out the pandemic in warm weather' for what she thought would be 1 month and very quickly realised she wanted to be an active player in the Startup and Fintech scene and joined Paystack in March 2021 focusing mainly on Expansion into new markets as well as growing existing products. She now leads Expansion Strategy & Operations in Ghana for Paystack.


Eizu Uwaoma Founder & CEO, Hexavian Group izu Uwaoma is a strategy, innovation, corporate restructuring & management consulting Eexpert. He is the founder of Hexavia. He sits on multiple boards on co-founding and advisory capacities. He is a graduate of mathematics and holds three master's degree, a PMP, a PHD -In-View and over a decade experience in strategy and corporate structuring. He is also a contributing writer on Business Day, a regular thought leader guest on Arise News and an author and a weekly radio show host. Mrs. Funke Ladimeji, HCIB ED, Coronation Bank & Chairperson, APWB unke is an Executive Director at Coronation Merchant Bank. She is a uniquely skilled and F experienced Investment Banking Executive, with a global career spanning Banking businesses, across Markets and Corporate Finance, across multiple jurisdictions in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), North America and Asia, across multiple asset classes (including debt, equity and the range of assets between debt and equity, as well as derivatives) and across multiple functional areas, including Financial Control, Complex Product Accounting, Technology, Business Operations and Human Capital. She has an unparalleled track record in driving wallet share and revenue growth, as well as restructuring and leading businesses to new levels of success. Funke spent 14 years at JP Morgan Chase where she was an Executive Director with global responsibilities, managing businesses across multiple jurisdictions. Prior to joining Coronation Merchant Bank, she was a Director and Chief Operating Officer at FBNQuest Merchant Bank Group where she oversaw a period of radical revolution that grew the balance sheet and massively increased revenues with two key acquisitions and evolution in technology and business culture. Mitchell Elegbe Founder & GMD/CEO, Interswitch itchell Elegbe is Founder/ Group Managing Director and a member of the board of Mdirectors at Interswitch, a business he conceptualized and has led since 2002, when the company went into operation. Ade Bajomo President, FintechNGR. de Bajomo is a financial services technology and business leader with global experience Ain Banking, Insurance and Capital Markets, and a track record of delivery in complex digital transformation programmes, strategic leadership, cybersecurity, innovation, advanced data analytics and global payments technology. He is passionate about the FinTech ecosystem and leveraging technology securely for exponential business growth, economic development and operational excellence. He is currently the President of FinTechNGR, the leading FinTech ecosystem orchestrator for Nigeria and Africa FinTechs with over 400 members. He served on the Board of Access Bank PLC from 2017 to 2022 as the Group Executive Director for Technology and Operations, repositioning the bank’s digital competitiveness to deliver exponential growth and an increased customer base from 7m to 52m.
