Assalamualaikum wbt dan salam sejahtera.
Setinggi-tinggi kesyukuran kehadrat Ilahi dengan limpah dan
kurniaNYA Festival Projek Pelajar PKS Sesi Disember 2020 dapat
dilaksanakan dengan jayanya pada kali ini. Tahniah dan syabas kepada
semua Ahli Jawatankuasa Kerja Festival Projek Pelajar PKS Sesi Disember
2020 kerana berjaya merancang dan menganjurkan program pada sesi ini.
Festival Projek Pelajar PKS Sesi Disember 2020 merupakan satu
platform untuk memberi peluang kepada semua pelajar semester akhir
Politeknik Kuching Sarawak mengetengahkan hasil kreativiti dan inovasi
masing-masing melalui penghasilan projek akhir pelajar yang mempunyai
nilai tambah serta boleh dikomersialkan. Kerjasama yang diberikan oleh
semua pensyarah yang terlibat didalam penghasilan projek akhir pelajar
dapat membantu dan melonjakkan kualiti graduan TVET, sekaligus
memperkasakan generasi masa depan dengan budaya kreatif dan inovatif
dalam menyahut cabaran Revolusi Perindustrian ke-4 (IR 4.0).
Akhir kata, sekali lagi saya merakamkan setinggi-tinggi penghargaan
dan terima kasih kepada semua Ahli Jawatankuasa Kerja, para pensyarah,
Panel Penilai Dalaman, Panel Penilai Industri, para pelajar serta semua
pihak yang terlibat secara langsung mahupun tidak langsung atas inisiatif
dan kesungguhan dalam menjayakan Festival Projek Pelajar PKS Sesi

Latarbelakang
program
Festival Projek Pelajar Sesi Disember 2020 Politeknik Kuching Sarawak
merupakan sebuah program anjuran Unit Penyelidikan, Inovasi dan
Komersilan (UPIK) dengan kerjasama Jabatan Kejuruteraan Awam, Jabatan
Kejuruteraan Elektrik, Jabatan Kejuruteraan Mekanikal, Jabatan Kejuruteraan
Petrokimia dan Jabatan Teknologi Maklumat dan Komunikasi.
Program ini dilaksanakan khas kepada pelajar-pelajar semester lima
untuk mempamerkan hasil projek akhir mereka serta berkongsi pengalaman
sepanjang tempoh projek akhir dihasilkan. Selain itu, program ini juga
merupakan pentas terbaik untuk mempromosikan pelajar Politeknik Kuching
Sarawak kepada pihak industri melalui hasil projek mereka agar pihak industri
lebih peka dengan kebolehan dan kemahiran yang dimiliki oleh pelajar
Politeknik Kuching Sarawak.
Selain itu, program ini juga merupakan platform untuk pelajar dan staf
memaparkan hasil kerja projek dan inovasi mereka dan berkongsi ilmu serta
pengalaman bersama. Ia juga membolehkan hasil inovasi staf dan pelajar
dipatenkan bagi tujuan pengkomersilan serta membolehkan agensi luar lebih
memahami apa yang dipelajari oleh pelajar dan secara khasnya dalam bidang
kejuruteraan dan ICT. Dengan adanya program seperti ini diharap ia dapat
mempromosikan kebolehan dan kemahiran yang diperolehi oleh graduan
Politeknik Kuching Sarawak.

AUTOMATIC ENTRANCSEELSFY-RSTISEINMGBFYLADGEMTEACCTHIINNGE BODY TEMPERATURE
One of the problems we are facing with the COVID-19 pandemic is that we lack on how
to control whether an individual is allowed to enter or not based on the reading. The
purpose of this project is to develop a system that can detect body temperature which
will automatically open the door only if the reading is normal but remains closed and
send alert if temperature is high. One of the COVID-19 symptoms is fever while social
distancing is one of the prevention. The scope of this
project will be at the gate entrance of Politeknik Kuching
Sarawak.
EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT AND LOGISTIC SYSTEM FOR JTMK DNS PROJECT
The Equipment Management and Logistic System for DNS Project Room (EMS) is
specifically designed for JTMK DNS Project Room Supervisor. Currently, JTMK did not
have any system or proper method to manage equipment in the DNS Project room.
Manual system still implemented to manage the data that can cause a greater risk of
theft and obsolete equipment. This system has been developed to improve the
equipment management and booking method. This system also will able to display
data information for JTMK DNS Project Room Supervisor and JTMK lecturers.

System Dashboard is a method of displaying data in the form of graphics, diagrams,
and also pay attention to the ease of reading the data. In a dynamic view, the system
dashboard can provide a new experience in observing values. The dashboard system is
also a method that can facilitate lecturers in terms of managing the value of each data. By
applying this method, it is hoped to provide a better experience to readers in value
reading, and to lecturers in value management. The goal of this project is to develop a
visualization of popular web -based food restaurants in kuching and to display a useful
website dashboard visualization for hunters and online food sellers to help users view
menu data easily, at the right time for them to go and place Restaurants in Kuching.
This project is made using the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method and the
expected results from this project will be received by users in Kuching Sarawak in
accordance with the project objectives after the project is completed.
PKS VISITOR MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
The security department in Politeknik Kuching Sarawak still using manual log book to
manage the visitor record. This method is time-consuming and inconvenient, at the same
time difficult to comply with the pandemic SOP. PKS Visitor Management System is
developed to improve this situation by keeping track on visitor record through a
contactless digital platform. This platform is built by integrating mobile application and
web-based application with a centralized database. The system is efficient and
cost-effective. It digitalizes the visitor record management and reduces paper-based log
book. It also improves the security procedures according to the new norm of pandemic.

A user device that is connected to a wireless network is limited by the distance to an
access point. This project aims to develop a Wi-Fi extender using Raspberry Pi to
extend the distance for the connection for any user device within its network
coverage. The project follows a step-by-step methodology to address the problems
during development. The usage of Raspberry Pi in this project is due to its small size and
portability as well as its low cost. It can be repurposed as a Wi-Fi extender where
previous studies into this configuration has been documented in the past.
FABRICATION OF SHIPING AND BENDING TOOL
Bar bending or shaping any iron material is a long before the
existed of the machines era in the modern year. Before the use
of machine, worker mostly use the V-die table and punch to
bend or shaping any metal or material to get the final product
to the customer or build a building. We build a small frame
bend tools compare to the machine that using motor or
electricity. In fact, it is also easy to use because it is not hard to
bend or shape any shape into heart or star with any material.
In addition, the weight is not as heavy as it already existed bend machine or tool and it
can easily to carry around to anywhere when needed by worker. This machine has also
been tasted in how stable and comfortable this tool can be when bending or shaping
metal at home or factory. In conclusion, this product we created can be used to bend or
shape any iron material to worker or home craftsman at anytime and anyplace.

In most libraries, there are large and tall bookshelves which is quite challeng-
ing for a librarian to stack the books on the bookshelves properly. Librarians
need ladder, chair or stool to reach the highest height of the bookshelves
when need to take or arrange books. It is found that some of the books are
heavy so the risk of getting injured is high. By using this ladder carrier, it is
time consuming when need to arrange or take the books one by one. The ob-
jective of this project is to design and build a device that can help
librarians to stack the books at high bookshelves as this device helps to
increase productivity and lessen their workload. For the material selection,
square hollow mild steel, mild steel metal plate and u - channel rails (mild
steel) is chosen because it is cheap and is able to withstand the load of the
books and the weight of user. For the fabrication technique, welding is used to
connect or join these parts together. Welding is mostly used in this project as
compared to riveting because welding method is a lot stronger compared to
rivet, and it need to be strong and sturdy in order to hold the weight of a
human body and the weight of the books. Another technique used in the
production of this ladder carrier is drilling and grinding. Drilling would be used
to create holes for the screw and grinding process will be use to cut the metal
in specific length that is needed. From the analysis balancing of ladder carrier, it is proven that this
ladder carrier is completely stable and safe for the users. This is because the ladder carrier gain the
stability from the base itself. The base of double sided ladder must be extend correctly to the
maximum spread of length in order to achieve the maximum stability when using the ladder carrier.
In short, the wider the base, the more stable the structure. This ladder carrier can help user to
reach the top of the bookshelf and it can saves time thus it can increase work productivity. Besides
that, this ladder carrier is a multipurpose device where it can be use to carry things especially to
transport things at high end position.
FABRICATION OF UNIVERSAL LOWER CONTROL ARM TOOL
This project is about control lower arm upward and downwards. Most of the time
mechanics use a hollow pipe to control it. By using
that method, it cause a lot of injuries to the
mechanics, damage the lower arm and damaging the
vehicle it selves. This tool is compatible with k-car
and SUV.

This study was conducted to produce plastic ribbon splitting tools used to produce the same size of
the rope (plastic ribbon). The pervious era they used the old knife to forming the size. They need
more time to split the ribbon, because the ribbon is too hard and knife only can split one ribbon in
one time. When using the knife, sometime the size is unequal. Besides that, the very important thing
is the safety. Our objective is to fabricate a device to help handicraft maker to speed up the process
of splitting. Second objective is to design a device that can split/divide ribbon with equal size. And the
third will be, to produce a device that can be more safe to be use by the handicraft maker. This tool
will be generated using a 3D printer. Through our research results, this Plastic ribbon splitter tool, is
easier and faster than usual. The design and the dimension was creates using the inventor. Done
finishing design, the 3D printer will process the tool. The material is PLA filament. As a result, not only
being easy to carry, the device is also very safe and the splitting time is very fast. Next, the author did
an experiment on their device and the author also compared it with older devices. Furthermore, the
author was able to prove that their devices are faster, safer and easier to carry anywhere compared
to older devices. From the methodology that the author had conduct based on the objectives, the
author had made the result regarding on their project.
Besides that, pricing also been studied to survey the
price of every parts or components on their project. In
conclusion, the objectives of this project has been
achieved as stated in Chapter 1.3 which is to fabricate a
device to help handicraft maker to speed up the process
of splitting, to design a device that can split/divide
ribbon with equal size and to produce a device that can
be more safe to be use by the handicraft maker.
SELF-RISING FLAG MACHINE
A motorized flag raising and lowering device which comprises a flag pole being hollow
and having a storage compartment therein with a side exit port. A pulley is on an upper
end of the flag pole and a drive wheel is in a lower end of the flag pole. A continuous
halyard extends about the pulley and the drive wheel through the flag pole and out of
the side exit port. A flag is connected to the halyard. A
reversible motor assembly is mounted to the flag pole and
connected to the drive wheel. A mechanism is for operating
the reversible motor assembly, whereby when the reversible
motor assembly is activated by the operating mechanism the
flag can be lowered into the storage compartment within the
flag pole, while the flag can also be raised from the storage
compartment and out of the exit port for display.

Nowadays, the safety of homes, buildings, factories and even offices is very important
and should be taken seriously in people's daily lives. In this project, we have developed a
fire extinguishing robot, which plays an important role in the safety system and can help
the members on duty to extinguish fires especially in high-risk and dangerous places. We
also know that when it is quite difficult to extinguish a fire, it takes time to extinguish a
fire, not to mention the parts that are difficult to reach and see during the fire. In
addition, it is also difficult for some people to spot a fire in a relatively small area. There-
fore, the designed "fire extinguishing robot" is a fire extinguisher, operated by Arduino
UNO and supported by additional circuits. The robot also uses three types of sensors,
including infrared sensors, flame sensors, and ultrasonic sensors, which play an
important role in this fire extinguishing robot. Each sensor used on this fire extinguisher
has its own function. For example, the dht22 sensor will monitor the humidity and tem-
perature in the area, while the flame sensor will be used
to detect and respond to fire or flame incidents. Finally,
an ultrasonic sensor is an electronic device that measures
the distance of an object by emitting ultrasonic waves
and converting the reflected sound into electrical energy.
Finally, an improved prototype fire extinguishing robot is
used to extinguish fires using two methods: water fire
extinguishing and liquid fire extinguishing.

With the advancement 0f technology nowadays, robot are getting more attention from
research to make human life easier, robot have become an integral part of daily life
easier because of their effectiveness in helping human in a variety of situation. this
project presents about the design and fabrication of a prototype floor cleaning robot.
the project is used for domestic and industrial purposes to clean the floor surfaces.

The increasing in the number of cars in the urban area causes a traffic jam especially at

driver will be busy focusing driving on the traffic jam for them to reach the destination
more quickly. They will do not have a time to contacting the hospital about their
arriving in a minute. Nowadays, the technology development with many types to
easier and to save a time for society. In an emergency cases, technology will be used
for certain used. This paper aims are to help the ambulance driver to make ambulance
sign at the traffic light. The transceiver module with distant 1km is used to transmit
signal to the other transceiver at traffic light for make an ambulance sign for the
roadways user can alert the ambulance will cross the traffic light controlled by a
microcontroller, Arduino UNO.
MASK DISINFECTION DEVICE
This project can help to reduce the overuse of the medical mask by disinfect the used
medical mask to be use again. It also help people not to waste their money for the
medical mask. This project entitled Mask Disinfection Device using Node MCU as
microcontroller. The main part of this project is the UVC Lamp and ZVS coil which is act
as disinfector. Inside of this device, the aluminium foil was installed to get the UVC
lamp's light and ZVS coil's heat can spread all over in the device's box. This device
controlled by using smartphone and website. The website is called Adafruit. To control
it, we just open the website and switch ON the button of UVC Lamp and ZVS coil. All the
button are 4 in total which is UVC lamp ON, OFF and ZVS coil ON, OFF. The disinfection
takes about 30minutes to complete.

SMART DOOR ANTI COVID-19
Currently, the world has experienced a catastrophic infectious disease called
"COVID19". The existence of this disease is due to a very serious coronavirus respirato-
ry syndrome and can cause death. The epidemic first came into force in China in
December 2019 and was confirmed as an outbreak by the World Health Organization
on March 11, 2020. So far, studies have shown that many deaths are due to
"COVID19" . Malaysia registered its first case of "COVID19" on January 25, 2020, which
involved tourists from China arriving in Johor via Singapore. This infectious disease is
spreading in Malaysia, increasing the infection rate. Therefore, the Malaysian
government has taken many measures to detect and eradicate this disease. One of the
measures taken by the government is to measure body temperature when entering all
commercial premises or shopping malls. For high temperatures above 37.5°C, visitors
will take relevant measures to receive treatment and isolation. In order to measure the
temperature of the place, an employee will be entrusted to verify the temperature of
each customer who wants to enter the place or shopping center, which will increase
the time for customers to enter the place compared to the normal time before the
disease occurs. . Therefore, our idea as a team is to create a more sophisticated
temperature verification tool that can directly detect temperature and be sensitive
when the visitor has the characteristics of a "COVID19" patient. The project reduces the
time people want to enter places or shopping centers and does not require employees
to measure the body temperature of visitors. If a human covid19 feature is detected,
the door will lock and prevent visitors from entering the building. Our recommended

In line with the development of the world leading to the era of information technology,
the glowing rays in the dark serve as an important invention of new materials in the
construction of emergency lines in buildings in the event of fire and malfunctioning
emergency systems. This is due to some of the accident case problems that arose on
dark times that result in frequent accidents. In addition, this emergency line have a
glow concept in the dark also has been designed to further save construction costs as
well as affort redecing the death rate inside the building during a fire since it is difficult
for the occupant to find way out. The product is intended to be used as a new building
product, as well as to study its effectiveness in reducing the
number of death. From the questionnaire result, 97.3%
respondents agreed that glowing emergency lines can help them
to pass through the dark areas in the building. In conclusion, this
product is more practical as it can provide better vision in
darkness.
FINGERPRINT RECOGNITION WITH GSM BASED SECURITY SYSTEM FOR LOCKER
In this project, the researchers do the inovation on the security system for locker lock
by using biometric system with GSM based security system. This paper represents a
Fingerprint recognition with GSM based security system for locker to controlling of
locker lock by short message service. The GSM system is used for sending the alert
message on mobile if unauthorised person try to open the locker. A fingerprint sensor
is used for scan the fingerprint to insert the image of fingerprint for authentication.
Once the fingerprint mismatch as it does not
same as the data has been enrolled, the
unsuccesful message will be displayed on the
LCD screen. GSM module gets triggered and
the registered user gets a message and at the
same time, the buzzer will be sound as it is a
alert alarm.

'Physical Distancing Detector System' atau PDDS adalah se-
jenis alat inovasi untuk memantau dan mengesan jarak so-
sial di tapak bina. PDDS dihasilkan dengan tetapan jarak
fizikal 1 meter dan ditempatkan di tapak bina dimana
kawasan tersebut adalah kawasan yang perlu kepekaan dan
keprihatian untuk berhati-hati yang tinggi. Kajian yang
dijalankan bertujuan untuk mendapatkan persepsi pekerja
tapak bina terhadap produk yang dihasilkan. PDDS
merupakan produk yang penting dan sangat diperlukan oleh
pekerja untuk lebih meningkatkan tahap kepekaan mereka terhadap keselamatan mereka apabila
berada di tapak bina. PDDS dapat dikaitkan dengan pelbagai elemen yang diperlukan pada zaman
teknologi ini, iaitu meliputi kemahiran berkomunikasi, kemahiran sains dan teknologi, kemahiran
berfikir, kemahiran interpersonal, kemahiran intrapersonal dan sebagainya. Sampel kajian dipilih
secara rawak mudah. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis deskriptif, iaitu mendapatkan nilai min
untuk melihat persepsi pekerja terhadap produk yang dihasilkan. Analisis kajian ini juga dibuat
berdasarkan kepada pentaksiran yang merangkumi kemahiran berfikir, kognitif, praktikal,
komunikasi, berkerja didalam kumpulan, kepimpinan, kebertanggungjawaban, nilai etika dan
professional. Keseluruhan kemahiran ini adalah kemahiran yang dinilai di dalam peperiksaan akhir
semester pelajar. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa PDDS banyak memberi kesan positif kepada
sikap, kepekaan, terhadap pekerja tapak bina.
ROUTER PANTOGRAPH
Router pantograph is a mechanical linkage connected in a manner based on parallelograms
so that the movement of one pen, in tracing an image, produces identical movements in a
second pen. If a line drawing is traced by the first point, an identical, enlarged, or
miniaturized copy will be drawn by a pen fixed to the other. Using the same principle,
different kinds of pantographs are used for other forms of duplication in areas such as
sculpture, minting, engraving and milling. The objective of the project is to design and
fabricate a milling machine, which could traverse on any contour. It will help people to
easy handling the machine (router). The materials that we use are router machine, screw
and wood. Router pantograph were given to users to test the work ability and the
questionnaire form was then distribute among the
users of the router From the analysis, it shows the
router pantograph works well and good
acceptance by the respondent about the
Satisfaction of The Router Pantograph Function
and further improvement would be done to
improve the router pantograph so that it can be
used to facilitate the affairs of users of the machine
in making engraving work in the future.

PRODUCTION OF CONCRETE DISINTEGRATOR MACHINE (CDM) FOR THE USE OF CONCRETE LABS
AT POLYTECHNIC OF KUCHING SARAWAK
Concrete is one of the most widely used materials in the world for structural purposes
such as foundations, columns, beams and floors. The cube test measures the compressi-
ble strength of the concrete and relates directly to the required design strength. Concrete
Laboratory at Kuching Sarawak Polytechnic always has problems with the disposal of
concrete cubes. Unsystematic and non-effective disposal makes concrete cubes becomes
more and more. The study will be conducted at the concrete laboratory of Polytechnic
Kuching Sarawak to get the accurate measurement of concrete cube, to design the
suitable machine that can be used to disintegrate concrete cube. Common users of
laboratory concrete are students from semester 2 and lecturers who teach concrete
laboratory subjects. To test the effectiveness of the CDM machine, the brick will used
instead of concrete cubes in the first attempt. The machine was able to smash the bricks,
but fine aggregates rather than coarse aggregates were produced. Worst of all, the
machine overheated due to a heavy round bar load caused by multiple chains, leading the
grinder to lose power. In less than ten seconds, the machine had overheated. After
modify the metal rode by removing four of the six chain steel rings around it, making it
lighter, more efficient, and more stable. Based on observations of the crushing process in
both tests, the CDM machine's power needs to be increased in order to maintain its
workability in crushing concrete cubes or other concrete waste. The design is appropriate
since it is compact, portable, and easy to transport. To be successful in bearing the strong
pressure from the metal rode crusher in the crushing process, the CDM must have a
highly powerful motor rather than a grinder's power. In the testing phase, the CDM
machine smashed the concrete cube, but it still needs to be improved. The crushed
concrete will be put to good use again.

GEL FORM HAND SANITIZER WITH PANDANUS AMARYLLIFOLIUS FOR COVID-19 PANDEMIC
The study was conducted to determine the use of Pandan essential oil as perfume to
mask off the unpleasant smell of alcohol in hand sanitizer and to evaluate the gelling
agents Carbomer 980, Xanthan gum and Aristoflex AVC in order to form alcohol-based
hand sanitizer in gel form to reduce the risk of spilling which can leads to stains on
things such as clothing as liquid form hand sanitizers tends to. The study of Pandan
essential oil in hand sanitizer are carried out by preparing 5 samples of 80% ethanol
alcohol-based hand sanitizer with different Pandan essential oil volume, 0.05, 0.10,
0.15, 0.20 and 0.25ml. The samples were tested through survey on 50 respondents in
Politeknik Kuching Sarawak students dormitory and the results are obtained where
majority of the respondents agreed that the addition of Pandan essential oil do prevent
the smell of alcohol while providing sweet Pandan fragrance. Next, the study for effects
of gelling agents Carbomer 980, Xanthan gum and Aristoflex AVC are evaluated through
gel forming time and appearances and prepared by adding the gelling agent in 80%
ethanol hand sanitizer with 3 different weight for all 3 gelling agents. The samples of
Aristoflex AVC form gel in a short time while Carbomer 980 samples takes a longer time
to form gel. However, Xanthan gum samples does not produce gel. The pH level and
durability for all samples are analyzed for 6 weeks and no changes in terms of
appearances for all gel hand sanitizer samples are observed whereas the pH level for
Pandan essential oil alcohol-based hand sanitizers were at pH 6. As for
recommendations, the period of study should be extended to at least 6 months in
order to obtain a better results in customer satisfactions factor. Keywords:Hand

INFLUENCE OF DIFFERENT TYPE OF ESSENTIAL OIL IN HAND SANITIZER
Usually, hand sanitizer is mainly produced using 60% of alcohol as an
active product substance. Therefore, many hand sanitizer product
are highly dominant with alcohol smell especially in commercial
product. Many studies shown that the excessive application of
alcohol-based hand sanitizer not only can lead to antimicrobial
resistance in bacteria, but it will also affect respiratory system that
may cause more health problem such as headache, nausea, and
migraine. This research aimed to reduce overpowering smell of alco-
hol hand sanitizer and evaluate customer contentment toward the best fragrant of
essential oil to be added in hand sanitizer by formulate a new aromatic scented
hand sanitizer using orange, lavender, and lemongrass essential oil as an addition of
fragrant substance. A survey method was used in this study that carried out 6
questionnaires throughout Google Form. As result, the most selected drops of EO
for S1, S2, S3 was 7 drops. The fresh scent of hand sanitizer product was clearly
shown, as much as 57% of respondent favored Lavender Essential Oil. Besides, this
study was carried out to examine the evaporation rate in hand sanitizer if glycerine
were among the compounds in hand sanitizer with varying the formulations which
would be documented from customer satisfaction and managed to record the
volatility data of hand sanitizer. In this study also, the different amount of Carbopol
940 is used with TEA to formulate a gel formulation for lavender essential oil hand
sanitizer where the stability of the hand sanitizer is being studied in terms of
changes in texture, odour, colour, viscosity and its thixotropic behaviour in the span
of 2 weeks with close observation. The growth of mould on bread with no hand
sanitizer with lavender hand sanitizer and commercial Dettol hand sanitizer in 14
days observed. The breads used for microbe test, in which to evaluate the
performances of hand sanitizers to killing the microorganism or bacteria insert of
bread of bread surface. Lastly, FTIR spectroscopy is used in this study to identify
chemical substances inside the hand sanitizer sample.

MOISTURIZING HAND SANITIZER WITH MELALEUCA ALTERNIFOLIA
Demand for hand sanitizers has surged since the corona virus broke out and spread
around the world. People with sensitive skin such as eczema have difficulty to buy
hand sanitizer that suitable for them as constant usage of alcohol based products can
be particularly drying. There's bounty individuals have endured from skin condition
that cannot utilize the standard hand sanitizer.This happen since a few of hand
sanitizer does not take after WHO’s rule such as allowed amount of alcohol (which is
at least 60%) that can badly affected consumer’s skin. The hand sanitizer in market
usually dry up the consumer’s skin caused by high alcohol percentage. Therefore, this
paper suggests the Melaleuca essential oil added in our hand sanitizer for soothing
the consumer’s skin. Other than that, it is also used to balance the strong alcohol
odor that disturbing consumer’s comfort. An online survey was distributed to 53
respondents in Politeknik Kuching Sarawak students through Google Form. Each
different hand sanitizer was given to each students with a different moisturizing agent
(coconut oil, castor oil, and marula oil), melaleuca oil and alcohol to form a effective
gel-based hand sanitizer. To determine the right amount of moisturizing agent in hand
sanitizer are carried out by preparing 3 samples of 80% ethanol alcohol-based hand
sanitizer which produce 3 differences of drops in 100 ml of hand sanitizer which 3,5,7
drops of (coconut oil, castor oil, and marula oil). By using of each hand sanitizer on
the hand, they can choose the hand sanitizer that most moisturize on the hand. The
results showed most of the respondents agree that coconut oil is the most
moisturizing agent than other moisturizing agent in the experiment. It is because
coconut oil can help with the cracks and water loss in the top layer of the skin by
