2 About HCA Healthcare

Letter from Jim Brown, CEO

Thank you for taking time to complete the Spring ’22 Engagement Survey. Sixty-seven percent of our team participated which
was the second highest participation rate in HCA Gulf Coast Division.

I am very pleased to share that our overall engagement index increased to 83 from 79. This score represents the third highest
engagement in our division. I am very happy with the strides we have made in nursing culture. Our engagement index for
nursing improved to 79 from 69. Over the last three surveys, nursing engagement has increased by 19 points.

In analyzing the survey detail, none of the 12 categories that we measure declined. Seven of 12 categories improved and five remained constant.
The highest scoring categories were “care” and “meaningful conversations”. The areas with greatest opportunity were “recognition” and
“involvement”.

In total, 49 departments had high enough participation to yield departmental results. Twenty-eight of 49 departments saw their engagement
increase, 11 remained the same from fall of 2021, and 10 experienced a decline. The highest scoring departments were as follows.

Nursing: 4th Floor (94)

Ancillary: PT (95)

Support: Transport (95)

Administrative: Quality/Performance Improvement (98)

Outpatient: Retail Pharmacy and Sports Medicine (100) 3

Letter from Jim Brown, CEO

Other areas having engagement scores of 90 or greater included Infusion, Nursing Administration, Financial Services, Food and
Nutrition Services, Case Management, Nuclear Medicine, Environmental Services, and IMCU. Our biggest gainers for this survey
cycle included Pre-Op, PACU, Transport, 5th Floor, and Histology.
I will be hosting Town Hall meetings this summer to review these results and our hospital action plan. Elements of our broad-
based action plan include a “Commit to Culture” campaign focused on departmental accountability for staff meetings,
communication boards, and rounding, expansion and revitalization of our Employee Activity Group to include representatives from our colleague
networks and shared governance councils, and on-boarding check-ins by senior leadership at 90 days and one year.
Your feedback is critical in our ongoing pursuit of making this an enjoyable and fulfilling environment that you’d recommend as a great place to
work. Thank you again for taking a few moments to provide us your feedback.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR

Lilly Escobedo Estrada

Financial Counselor

“Lilly is a financial counselor in patient access. Although she is a long-term HCA
employee, she has only been in this role since September 2021. During her tenure
in this role, she has become the number 1 front collector in the region. Collections
is a difficult position, but Lilly is successful not only at collecting, but also ensuring
that patients feel that they are cared for like family. She is also consistently willing
to train other registrars to improve their collecting skills.”

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR

Doeland Dilbert

ER, Patient Care Tech

“Doeland is an enthusiastic worker. Always wears a joyful spirit and wide smile. He
goes above and beyond to extend help when needed. I asked him to bring a
stretcher to MS6 so we can take an expired patient to the angel room. He not only
brought the stretcher, but took the patient to the angel room and already called
security to have them waiting by the time we got there – he made the process so
smooth. His “ready to help attitude” is commendable!”

Hospital Parking Process – Employees

Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of
human life.

Due to the current limited amount of parking spaces, we ask that
all employees please park in their designated parking spot. We
want to offer our community the best possible experience by
ensuring that there are enough parking spaces for our patients
and their visitors.

As of June 2022 our process is as follows,

• Security will be parked in front of the hospital and will ask the
employee/vendor/contract employee/student to move their vehicle.

• If the employee does not move their vehicle, security will take a picture
of the employee and their vehicle’s license plate.

• Security will then turn over their license plate number to HR.
• Security will then put a violation sticker on the driver side window.
